QUOTE(bzbody @ Nov 18 2007, 05:58 PM) i just install xp pro.. installed driver, office 2003, adobe acrobat reader, vlc player, norton internet security 2007. 1.4gb left.although some people said norton consume a lot of resource, but i notice the startup is much faster compare to computer, with same software installed. boot time.. 35 seconds from switching on button, until finish loading startup items (no hdd activity). |

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 18 2007, 06:05 PM) after trying so many times to enable webcam in bios but can't detect webcam after startup i remember marauderz mentioning Internet tab has an eBook icon. Mine earlier got but now its not there. So did a system recovery and went to Bios and webcam is already Enabled and eBook icon showed up again in Internet Tab. However webcam still can't work so went to Add/Remove Software and did Bios update and the eBook icon disappear again! Check Bios and Camera set to Disable and Enabled it save and exit. Webcam still can't work. before this i have problem with webcam.. found out that os installation setting cause the problem.Repeat many times pressing F9 for recovery and Enabling camera but keeping getting Failed in Testing Webcam.Getting pissed off. Going to Pavilion and ask KokWei for help. go to bios.. go to advanced.. go to os installation, set it to finished. |

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 18 2007, 10:03 PM) However, if your unit is working without any flaws and webcam working, better not to change bios. Read my earlier post, do the Bios thingy so many times but yet webcam still can't work. Anyway if you do go and do recovery, please take note of ilham87 comment on the advance...finnish setting. if you set os installation to start, no matter how you change the webcam to enabled, it will automaticly disabled after restart. |

QUOTE(selvenz @ Nov 19 2007, 06:19 PM) when will the Eee pc be widely available in all stores or do u have to buy it at MTCS pavillion only. at pc fair probably u can get it.. but i think is limited also due to worldwide shortage.but i think after this, more manufacturers will produce notebook like this.. small & cheap price. QUOTE(splua333 @ Nov 28 2007, 05:47 PM) What else tweak to do? i turn off pagefile completely since i have 1 gig ram.Mine is Regular Windows XP Pro SP2 with 1G RAM (0401 BIOS) Below Tweaks i had done: 1. Change the pagefile to 256mb, 256mb MAX 2. Compress Drive to save same space on SSD (Windows installed inside) 3. The tweak from Asus manual had done 4. AVG Antivirus Free Edition installed + updated 5. Windows updates full and the tweak to delete the hotfix + backup file had done. 6. Use CCleaner always. What else i miss out? Compress Drive to save same space on SSD <----- if i'm not mistaken, this will make it slower |

QUOTE(splua333 @ Nov 28 2007, 06:17 PM) oooo......mean i no need to compress it? (Since i has 1.9G free space) after u uncompress, sure take a lot of space.. eat a lot more space than the space before you did the compression part.. i dunno what cause it.... ended up reformatting whole thing again.and pagefile, turn it off will hav any effect? if turn off page file, performance not much difference. . however, hdd activity is much less than before. at startup also hdd led not much blinking. one more, you can save hdd space..
