Yes, String is right. So everyone please do check out the system first before buying it cause you're not exactly buying what the masses call a standard notebook for RM1299.

Anyway I guess I'll see you there on Friday String, hopefully I can slip out of work to secure my unit. And Kok Wei still hasn't confirmed receipt of my fax after I have send it to him twice, 5 days ago, and right just now. if i had a scanner on me right now I'd just scan and email him the darn forms! wink.gif

Kok Wei : I know having a line outside your shop is going to look nice but maybe you should think of giving people who arrive numbers or confirmation slips so they dont have to line up and cause all the problems that a line might have?

Yup, i will giving the confirmation to whoever send me the Pre-launch order form, but those who haven fill up the form for me will only count after that. I will make sure everything is under control. No worries  smile.gif
That's nice to know, I'm still trying to ensure that I can make it this Friday. Work schedule still not solidified yet.

Kok Wei : Any thoughts on allow us to add on an 8GB SDHC card so I don't need to go down to Low Yat after getting the eeePC to get one?

Cahili : I think you'd run out of space already if you tried to do that. If you want the 8gb then just wait for that, it's arriving next month... probably

somewhere on the net you can see that 4GB releases now, then 8GB next month.. so if you really prefer the 8gb, then do wait for it.

Sorry for my late reply,
I will try to search for u tmr,
Im off today, now only log into lowyat forum. smile.gif
After talking with some people it seems that cheap 8GB SDHC is class 4 which is slow and not very usable. I think I'm gonna have to do more research first. But anyway Kok Wei, I was just suggesting it to you maybe you might want to take the opportunity to sell some SDHC cards if you guys have any in stock.

I see a lot of people are still thinking of the eeePC as a regular notebok for everyday use, it is NOT! If you buy one with that kind of thougt, you're going to be very disappointed!

Yes, it got hot enough to be uncomfartable just now while I was surfing in Starbucks. So those of you who says it's not hot, do more wireless surfing, I think the heat should be coming out from the RAM modules.

Anyway I had an interesting problem just now, some of my USB drives weren't working, kept giving me an "Access denied" message, I thought it was something I did after trying out the various patches and hacks on the net.

Then I noticed something, on my friend's unit, his Internet tab has an eBook icon. Mine DIDN'T! I did a reinstall from the recovery disc and now the eBook icon is there, and I'm able to use all my USB drives again.

So, all you people who did get the eeePC.. do you have an eBook icon in the Internet tab? If not, before you rush to install from the DVD again just quickly goto the settings tab and check out Systems info and see what are your version numbers.

To play RMVB files.. well someone made an easy installer.

Go here :- http://rt.openfoundry.org/Foundry/Project/...load/?Queue=863

download the 0.0.3 version, then find where u downloaded it to, right click on the gz file and select extract all, it'll extract the files into a lazyeeepc folder, enter that folder and you'll see another folder, and a file as well, a python file, double click the python script file.

it's in chinese, ensure the first option with the word debian is checked, then ensure the last option with the word rmvb is checked.

It will now start to download files from the internet.. it WILL take some time, it'll pop up a mesasgebox with a lightbulb once it's done.

Added on November 17, 2007, 2:01 amthen you need to restart, but after that rmvb will be playable.

Well, the unit gets toasty, but not exactly searing hot thankfully.

Oh.. latest reports from my colleague, HuaWei E200 USB modem works without a hitch on the eeePC

Well I installed VLC on the eePC but... H.264 playback... not working yet.

Or rather... it works.. just that the processor just can't seem to be able to cope with the files (which have a rather high bitrate) that's being thrown at it.

But we don't want to use their overpriced RAM! I guess if we use our own RAM they gonna give us the warranty void pitch again, bloody hell, they're starting to piss me off!

Wah.. the BIOS upgrade is causing problems arr? Shit man... it's an official update on the eeePC's program list, coming from Asus themselves, and it's defective?

Oh my god!

Has anyone done the RAM installation by bringing your own RAM yet? Results? Did anyone give you a hard time?
