Can anyone advise on this?
Using UHome 5G with NR5103e (three version), band locked to B28 N78.
Only getting 50Mbps average, previously can get 300Mbps.
Sometimes getting network disconnection randomly, already put the router to the side of window.

There had been some hit-and-miss connection speed and feedback on NR5103e 5G modem. Some users couldn't get good speed while few others reported to get 500-600mbps.

My question is, if you plug in the sim card to any other 5G phone at the same spot, do you get better speed ? If yes it should be modem issue.

Hi, currently staying in Rivercity Condo in Sentul area.

My rental does not provide Wifi so I plan to take this U Home 5G but still skeptical about it because i dont have a 5G router that can use SIM card.

1. Is U Home 5G good in Sentul area?

2. Any cheap 5G compatible Routers (that work with U Home 5G), preferably below RM200 (hard cap RM300) to recommend?
Need for casual gaming, Youtubing as well as partially working from home.
*

With your budget of RM300 maximum you can only get 4G modem (with 5Ghz) wifi speed. But you are likely to get 30-50mbps speed which is a waste for the U home 5G.

Yes 5G and U home 5G are using the same DNB signal tower, would you consider signing up for YES package of RM99 per month with free 5G modem ?

Try to put nearby window. As this moden dont have lock band function, sometimes the router tend to connect to 4g

Have you already locked the Band ?

4G => B28
5G => N78

Is it possible to lock band for the Nokia Fastmile 5G modem?

Also it uses an older SD X50 chipset and comes only with 1G ethernet ports.

Arcadyan and Zyxel models use newer SD X55 chipsets which supports future 5G-SA mode.
They also come with 2.5G ethernet ports for future proofing.
Both are OpenWRT based. The Zyxel one is customized OpenWRT with many of its features lock but a 3rd party firmware is in the works.

Just to update on this. Need to reset the modem, and use the APN setting below;

APN : my3g
MCC : 502
MNC : 18

Leave all other APN setting blank. Can achieve around 300-400Mbps when connected to 5G.

Hi all.
New to 5G broadband.

So i can subscribe to Uhome, and plug it into my 5G phone to test the network speed and coverage at my house before purchase the 5G modem, right?

And does 5G modem works like the usual fibre router, where there are 2.4 & 5.0ghz wifi, and ioT can connect to it?
I am considering the X50-5G or Nokia Fastmile based on what i read here.

For 5G modem, can it be turned on 24hours or need to switch it off at night when sleep?

Thanks

1. Yes, but because of different hardware / antennas / chipset / design, the performance/ speeds you get may differ between devices

2. It's just like a normal router, just with a 5g modem built in

3. Can, some models have built in Fan to keep themselves cool

Want to ask, if I get the Umobile 5g broadband sim (68/-) , can I put it in my Unifi Air 4g router for time being before deciding what 5g router to get. Will it work ?

If can, will I be able to get full 4g uncapped speed ?

If your Unifi Air 4g router is sim-locked, then will not work. Otherwise, will work and connected to 4G only.

What model is your Unifi Air modem?

I too used Huawei B618 (factory-unlocked) with umobile home 5G sim prior to getting 5G router modem. Speed was good above 100Mbps.

Thanks for replying. I am using my own Huawei router (not from Unifi) . It only support Unifi Band 38, so always only connect at 38. I used to be able to go full speed (uncapped) around 30-50 mbps, but recently they became aware and capped my speed to 20mbps max ( the specified speed for my package).

Now it's time to ditch Unifi Air.

Looks like can't ditch Unifi Air 4G yet.

Bought the Umobile 5G Home broadband (rm68/-) today, put it in my Huawei 4G router, and what I got made me nearly fell off my chair, not because it was good, but it totally SUCKED.

I could only get DL 3 mbps, Going to cancel as soon as I can. In the meantime going to put back my unifi sim (79/-) in the Huawei Router. At least Unifi capped speed st 20mbps looks like heaven now compared to umobile no cap.

Anyone here ditched home fibre for home wireless 5G?
I am thinking of switching from Maxis 500Mbps (RM149) to either u home 5G or Yes Flexi 5G plan..
5G signal is awesome at my place.

These tests on my phone (Xiaomi 13t) were done at my living room area.
My usage is mostly streaming movies (netflix, YT and all) and social media. Meet or Zoom calls once in a while. No gaming.

I did this change from 100Mbps fiber to UHome 5G. Previously can save more when I add sub line of 38. But now not allowed and have to spend more for UHome 5G.

1. What’s the purpose of switching? To save money? Then better go for Unifi 100Mbps RM89. I list down all the cons below.

2. Your usage describing seems ok for 5G but remember no torrent for Uhome 5G unless with VPN.

Cons:
1. Even when I get speeds of 300-400Mbps down, I can’t reach 37.5MB/s or 50MB/s. Try to do it with your phone / hotspot see if you can reach similar. Speedtest doesn’t yield same speed in downloads for me. Or use other Speedtest like with https://speed.cloudflare.com/

2. Upload speeds are horrible. You are getting maybe 20Mbps to 50Mbps max.

3. You will need to invest in a new 5G router.

4. Limited to 1000GB FUP quota. It’s tough to hit this for casual usage but not nice to have this limitation on back of your head.

5. Can’t torrent without VPN.

Note: Using Yes Flexi 5G bypass Con 4 and 5. But Yes Flexi 5G is less usable. Heard that the ping and upload speeds are worse with Yes. I hate Yes as a company and avoid them like a plague.

Go for it.

I terminated 2 x Maxis RM89 package in 2 different locations. That was the 30mbps DL. Now running YES Flexi for both sites. 200mbps speed easy downstairs from router. Next to router ~400mbps. UL is 50mbps best. Usually hovering around 20mbps but I don't need much UL speed.

The only problem seems to be heat. My 2nd location is very hot and humid, and the X50-5G would need to be restarted everyday. NX510v needs to be restarted less, but happens to both. I wonder if I disable the WiFi would it be less hot, and use a normal router for WiFi duties.

Sadly the TP-Link twins do not have a USB port so I cannot easily add a fan for it.

Standalone, NX510v has a wider wifi coverage versus X50-5G. I think if you do not need/want mesh, NX510v is better, but it also costs more.
