I sometimes face the same problem too, usually i don't restart the modem bcoz it would take a long time to reboot back. Instead i just go through the configuration page using my pc and at the 4G scan section i just rescan for 4G band usually it would suddenly reconnected back. Tho this problem happens far and in between lah, sometimes 1 1/2 months once, tho i always thought it was bcoz i left the router running 24/7 non stop.. |

Interesting feedback regarding congestion and network issues requiring restart of the modem.
I’ve used my X50-5G for two months now. Very stable & consistent with YES 5G. I brought it to Penang mainland for a weekend trip, and I love how it just works — but best to place somewhere near window. Penang’s speed was slower at around 200mbps. Still 5G but I guess signal not as strong. My own place DSL upstairs 500mbps, downstairs no 5G. Just brought the same unit over to my parent’s place and deployed it there. Parent’s place double story, downstairs can get 600mbps. Cutting the Maxis fiber there as well. Now I can monitor their network remotely using the Deco app. After cloudwan’s feedback that the NX510v can turn off WiFi, bought that unit for my own use, since I will be using my ASUS routers and AiMesh. Tmr gotta go to a YES store and pick up the sim. I’ve got one bnib X50-5G to let go below market price <RM900. And a bnib X50 node to let go as well after deciding to try the NX510v. I am not a trader, just backside itchy want to switch. Who interested hmu. Fcfs one unit saja. QUOTE(spaceman @ Jan 10 2024, 07:35 AM) Thinking of upgrading Zyxel to X50-5G because of the good feedback from many ppl claiming they get 3x speed before and after using Deco. Right now I'm getting around only 100Mbps/15Mbps download/upload and playing PlayStation online games is a nightmare due to lagging. I wonder is it because wifi broadband itself causing it or can it be solved by buying a better modem router. To be fair I don’t think a NX510v/x50-5G is any faster than a properly working Zyxel. Just that the sellers are mixing lemons and it’s a hit or miss. I pity people who bought it thinking it is 5G when it’s faulty. The Zyxel I got connected to 5G (YES did not deduct the 100GB for 4G connection) but my speed was stuck at 4G, never exceeding ~120mbps. Same YES sim in same location gave me 500mbpss with X50-5G.Anyone here can advise kah? But your 100mbps dl speed seems to be weak. Did you test 5G on your mobile and what speed it get? I use phone as a benchmark to compare. If your phone can get 300mbps at the same spot as the Zyxel, then you can throw the Zyxel out the window. Have been using U98 main with a few U38 family share lines for a few months, with the U38 sims as modem-exclusive hotspot only usage.
Everything was working until today, where the modem shows network service is available but the devices connecting to the modem/router can't access internet. Changing the U38 sims to mobile phones shows no issue connecting to internet. Called customer service, was advised that family share internet quota is only for mobile phone. Following the advise, I went to get a Broadband 68 plan. Put the sim back into modem, Still no internet. So frus. Any idea what went wrong? (modem restarted, checked APN, no maintenance in area, no firmware update, all the standard things have been done so please skip those kind inputs tq). Updates: Tried the following actions, across 2 different locations and 2 different 5G modem models and different Umobile Sim cards / lines: - hard reset modem - create a new APN profile - change the network band (for the modem that supports it) No change, network shows connected but no internet. Went to U Mobile to ask and confirm the T&C for U98 and family share, the staff confirmed that over time Umobile will monitor the device and usage, and block the number to only mobile devices. Finally cancelled all U Mobile lines (they lost 3 on the same day). As a replacement, I subscribed to one new U68 Wireless Broadband plan while searching for alternatives. The U Mobile staff assured that the plan allows non-mobile devices, and it was also noted in the plan's T&C. Brought the sim back home and put in modem, still same situation (connected to network no internat). Will need to bring the modem and SIM to U Mobile again to let them configure it instead, or give full refund. Sigh. This post has been edited by dannytzh: Jan 27 2024, 08:43 PM |

I'm using UMobile Broadband 68 sim in DecoX50 (5G modem) in Penang area.
Last night, my UMobile internet was connected halfway but down after that, until I reset the whole modem with new profile and it turned out OK. I suspected UMobile's issue. Typical telco method to prevent hotspot sharing is to count the default hop limit in your traffic packets. For windows, you may reduce the default hop limits by adding 1, then you may bypass the limitation. Impossible to change default packet hop limit on iOS unless you jailbreak, same for Android phones requiring rooting. But doesn't seem like its WiFi performance is any good from review. Not sure if YES sim-locked it. Anyway, considering all 5G is provisioned by DNB now, any reason to choose U Mobile over this YES Flexi RM58? I understand if you're stuck with 4G then U's offering is unlimited and YES is capped at 100GB, but otherwise why pay additional RM10 a month. |

Still depends on coverage i think, my place is i donno why YES coverage is really bad even tho i have no problem getting umobile, maxis and even digi stable. All three would get varying speed but still better than YES. Not sure if YES sim-locked it. Seems like I'm getting more or less the SAME speed with my Zyxel NR5103e and also my newly bought Deco X50-5G. So my Zyxel definitely not a lemon unit.
Nevertheless I've decided to keep the X50-5G and letting go my Zyxel with a discount. Anyone interested in getting Zyxel with box, pls PM me. |

Tested U Home 5G for two months without 5G modem. Turn on youtube on TV and play it non stop. Using B618 (Unifi first batch modem) connect 4G speed below 10mbps and always experience line disconnected. ( On modem status no service signal bar empty, need to restart modem) Connect B28 with other 4G CA, speed improved a bit around 20mbps. Also encounter line disconnected. If only connect B28, speed average at 30-50mbps. Line disconnected remain happen. Within two months, line disconnected average 2-4 times per week and most of the time happen at 6am-8am. I don't know how the line disconnected. But there are two outcome. one i can use HWmanager/WebUI connect it saw signal bar empty with no service. Another one was I can't access my modem with HWmanager/WebUI. Required hard restart modem will back to normal. So I am suspecting some kind of DoS attacked happen on my modem. Now i had terminated my U Home 5G account after two months and testing with Telco M. So far 30days had passed and no internet interruption happen on same device. This modem never happen in past with Unifi bebas and Digi unlimited. Something should go wrong with umobile. This post has been edited by ericsow: Jan 22 2024, 10:49 PM countdracula liked this post

5G modem is really hot. You need to fan them if not line drop or fried.
