i have got a xiaomi router 3 pro from taobao china directly.

recently i read some ppl say that routers from china downgrade their wireless power compared to other global standards.

Is that true?

i hear so much good things about ac86u, i am not sure how big of a diff compared to my current router

What I can confirm is the AC86U is better than the tplink router given by maxis in coverage and stability. And better in speed and stability than the Huawei router and mesh combo by Time for 500mbps package.

My impression of ASUS router is better than TPLINK ones.

yes routers from china are not as powerful due to limited transmission power

I cant find a reliable source of info but it seems like china's limit is 100mW and then raised to 200mW later on

while over here our limit is 500mW

(these are for 2.4Ghz bands)

Now, if you live on landed... it may be fine
but if you live in high rise, everyone else with their local routers transmitting at high power is going to drown your router

Asus router is very good to use except for Mesh

I use Asus Aimesh for my parents’ place and they work great though. Full speed of my subscribed speed (300mbps) in all corners.
AC86U as main and two AC68U as nodes.

Now that the plan has launched, they change it to 3 devices + TV

Also I only saw it in the app but it seems like you can purchase prepaid SIM packs and convert them to U Home 5G now by reloading RM68 and purchasing the plan

My one is China Set, much cheaper than local but work great for Router, keep disconnecting from the node if work as Mesh...
not sure why, finally I changed to use Mi AX6000 and work great

I bought Deco XE75 last month and try so call 6E, the coverage is not full bar (4 of 5 bar ) and very less configuration available in Deco App compared with Asus Web one, so I give it to my sister and I keep to use Mi AX6000

Joined UM Home5G plan. Bought ZTE MU5120 to pair with it...

the signal is ok to cover. i am using china zte router as AP too.
as long place the router in the center of home then it's ok.

Sadly the X50-5G cannot turn off the WiFi... it's a really dumb down UI with convenient apps but you cannot tweak anything. So I can only hide the ssid, and stick to using my Asus router. I guess Deco X50 series is all about its mesh technology and ease of use.

Can NX510v turn off wifi and be passthrough mode only?

Right now setup my cheap Asus router to be AiMesh downstairs for better coverage, but speed is only around 260mbps. Upstairs where the X50-5G and Asus AC86U is can get 500mbps.

Anyway, it is a good upgrade coming from RM89 Maxis Fiber 30mbps lol. So far so good, the network is really stable.

Very stupid to setup. Don't follow their instructions. Just use ethernet cable and plug into LAN on the AiMesh main router and WAN on the AiMesh node. And then add from there. Trying to set it up wirelessly fails 100% of the time for me.

Hello, I am looking for a 5G modem and plan, would it be better to go for:

1) YES 5G (Upfront RM299, lock in 1 yr, RM99/mth and then change to RM 58)

OR

2) Buy separate modem on lazada (pls recommend cheap and good one) and go with UMobile RM68/mthly?

Whatever it is, check both telco coverage 1st at your place. Like in my case i went with Umobile Home 5G bcoz they have better 5G/4G coverage at my place. YES 5G was all over the place, sometimes no connection at all.
If u go for YES and ur place in the end only having 4G signal most of the time, u will be going through YES 4G quota of 100GB so fast..

But if both telco have same quality of connection, i would say YES package seems more tempting atm. Tho take note i read somewhere some users has complains having bad latency during gaming using YES.

Thank you! Yes both have coverage in my area cos it's very near to central KL area. It also has full 5G in my hometown of Johor, I know cos I am a UM user for their postpaid line and the speed is DAMN good on my phone, like 350-450 mbps.

YES package i read the max speed of the device is capped at 120 Mbps and also it throttles the speed of other telcos' SIM cards.

Also it seems it's a pretty crappy cheap china model whose price has been marked up significantly so I would prefer to be able to find a 5g router that will work nicely with any SIM.

my suggestion is to buy a standalone modem from lazada, wait for sales to get a better price.

the YES package with modem is a rip off.

Checking the web configuration page for NXV510v i can disable the wifi, not sure about the passthrough mode tho, can't find anything mention about it in the config page.

5G connection is not very stable.

Now during festive season peak hours speeds can drop below 100Mbps even with full bar signal strength.

High congestion now.

Don't do normal speedtest, the results are fake.

Try using sites which allow you to download files directly from it like OVH file download test site. Use a download manager to test with no more than 4 connections.

very true, i do normal speed test also cannot go above 80Mbps.
