Hi guys, how do you guys actually check if the modem is a lemon unit? I suspect mine is, because although I can get speed up to 200Mbps but my upload speed never exceed 15Mbps. Initially I thought its because UHome5G doesn't provide good upload speed but after seeing a few screenshots that someone posted in the comments they all can easily reach 100-300Mbps upload speed with UHome 5G (wow).

Now I wonder should I trigger a return/refund but problem is I need to prove it to the seller right?

Haih mafanlo. Sleek sexy unit. But yes, it’s very very crap. I have to place it upstairs because downstairs can’t get 5G. I bought the X50 mesh unit. Waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully it works. I want to retire the ASUS AC86U. But honestly the ASUS is a beast.

Upload is slow. Not important for me. Check? I compare to the speed I can get on my iPhone on the same network. If your phone get 200 down and 15 up… don’t la expect the modem router can exceed that speed by much.

X50-5G unit is small and sleek. Looks like a nice ornament and not the usual router with antennas.

If no question ask then is good. For sure I will first test with umobile prepare line (i have one) on the same spot before complaining to seller

Deco X50-5G, an expensive modem / router ?

So far i am content with my Tplink NX510v wifi.. My house is 2 floor terrace house, the router is on the 2nd floor, i am able to get wifi from my porch around 4 bars.. So far no dead spot around the house.. #touchwood

any external antennas to recommend? just want to try to get the maximum of maximum signal. just FFS

I won’t call it expensive. I get it around circa RM860. It’s an all in one and real 5G with Snapdragon chip inside, not some rubbish china chip. Same chip as iPhone yo! Ok end fanboy. I trust it for reliability, same as now iPhones been reliable and stable.

I gave Zyxel a chance. It’s hit or miss main tikam, waste my time.

Sounds like the NX510v has better WiFi than the X50 series! X50-5G i place in my bedroom. Go in toilet, the speed slower by 1/5. lol.

Remember ya my AC86U downstairs, in upstairs toilet I still get 1/3 speed.

Expensive costs RM1100 which is twice the price of Zyxel and only comes with 1x 2.5Gbps Ethernet port and also same QC SDX55 SOC.

The built quality and design also not trendy and modern got fins which makes cleaning difficult.

For the NX510v also very costly almost RM900 but doesn't come with 2.5GB Ethernet port only 1000M Ethernet ports.

No need to try, 5G doesn’t work. If cannot return then you’re stuck with a 4G router modem for RM500. Like I said, main tikam lo.

Whole point I’m in this tered is to get 5G. Not main tikam and maybe get 5G. Going through this tered, some success and some fail so 50/50. And also the concern, how long before it fails?

it seems that making the 5G router to be a IP pass through mode is more stable.

so 5G router just act as a 5G device
routing is done in AC86u
wifi is done on Mi with MESH...

ping and connection is more stable.

i tried following this style, but my Xiaomi Router 3 Pro cant transmit the internet when my zyxel goes into IP passthru mode.

My AC86U no problem, can get the Maxis private IP which is starting with 10.x.x.x

If cannot then you can try manually assigning fixed IP by mapping your MAC ID of your 5G modem on your Xiaomi Router.

Yup i know it's more costly at RM900 but when i bought it, i took consideration of the people complaints of hit or miss 5G on Zyxel, couple with the 3 years warranty u get with the tplink it feel much safer for me in the long term.
Beside that coming from being a user of a rocksolid Tplink 4G router for 7 years before it's a no brainer for me. I don't feel that much of a loss going for non 2.5GB ports atm coz to me i don't see 5G will saturate 1GB ports anytime soon.
Nowadays i can't even get speed up to 600mbps, constant 300mbps only on 5G, it's more than enuff for my usage atm.
