received the goods

tested with 5G YTL sim, speed can be 300Mbps on LAN 1, LAN 2 is 100Mbps port speed, don't know why
just plug your switch to LAN 1 and good

phone tested with Maxis 5G with 500Mbps ++, going to buy some external antenna stuff and try again later

signal strength tested in the router is -95dBm, phone is -101dBm but even faster, probably phone is qualcomm chipset
*
Further test on Yes 5G Network...
beh tahan its oversea connection speed, especially taobao and some china apps, very slow browsing on PC
speedtest with its Yes server no problem..

now testing on Maxis 5G network for a few days....

I bought it 6 months ago, back then less variety available.  But if I look at the end result, no complain at all.

Qualcomm or Mediatek whatnot is not important, it the end result that is important.

Worth it? It costs almost twice with latest batch of Snapdragon X55 modems on sale.

Hi,
I just bought an OEM 5G modem and not sure why I cant get 5G signal even I changed IMEI already.  Is that umobile also check on TTY ?
Thank you

Known chipset problem.

Those cheaper China OEM 5G modems with Unisoc IVY 510 chipset is known to perform very bad with DNB's Ericsson equipment due to compatibility.
Average can only reach 100+mbps even with good signal reception.

Arcadyan aw1000. Not suggesting for beginner as its using modded open wrt firmware. But speed much higher. Can get 300Mbps constantly. Sometime 400. With low 5G signal. If me i would go olax or gteniq. Much user friendly
*
From the speedtests down with the Arcadyan, it's noticeable slower compared to other Snapdragon based modem. 200-300mbps on average is slow.

Gteniq is another lousy one costs almost 2X(also around RM900) the competition but only has 4x1000Mbps Ethernet ports. Open source firmware is useless because many won't make use of it. It only confuses new users because they might mistakenly change them.

I can't tell if that is worth it, for me just bite the bullet and enjoy the high speed.

I read in a (5G modem) FB group before my own purchase, whereby most users (back then) were using Yeacomm and the connection they shared / showed had been impressive. Range from 500mbps to more than 1000mbps.

Just wondering, do u guys play online game with UHome 5G? For me is a nightmare playing FC24 on PS4 lol. I know if want good latency better choose fibre but I'm curious whether people choosing wifi broadband nowadays are not gaming right?

P/S: I'm not a gamer myself and am wondering is it worth to go for more expensive fibre just for one game that I play online *sometimes*

Just got my zyxel unit from lazada. My speed on iPhone 13 Pro Max can hit up to 600-700 mbps, but with the zyxel unit only can get about 300-400mbps.

I have two questions to ask and if anyone can answer would be awesome.

1) will I be able to get even better speeds if I use external antennas ? Or this is just a bottle neck of the modem?

2) any vpn to recommend to torrent (the cheapest and suitable for my usage)? I am not a heavy user but occasionally will download movies to watch. Cause I like watching those with proper encoding and UHD.

Yeah, It is 510 chipset. There is two model VN007+ and VN009. 5G working fine on VN007+ but not on VN009.

However, I also tried with the Redmi K60 (China set) with the Gen8 chipset and still couldn't obtain a 5G signal. Now, I suspect that the issue may be related to the DNB checking device IMEI code, as all devices must registered under MCMC.

Did you test both your phone and modem at same spot? The modem's antenna is much larger than your phone actually.
Also did you test your modem on a direct wired connection to your PC?

No difference between Snapdragon X55 and X62, The one to look out for are Snapdragon X65 onwards which is 5G Phase 2 which supports upto 10G speeds.

There are some modem now selling in the market with Snapdragon X62 chipset but I think is waste of money because the only advantage it has is support for additional bands.

In Malaysia DNB only uses B28 and N78? Support more bands also useless waste of money might as well wait for future ones with Snapdragon X70 above. You know lar Malaysia always slow in adopting new tech, even Unifi until now still selling old GPON tech for their 2Gbps plans. laugh.gif

You test your modem via WiFi or wired?
WiFi sure inferior since the modem is only AX1800 and not a good one.

With a 1Gbps Ethernet port, your speed should maxed out at around 950mbps with overheads.

Depending on DNB future use of additional bands and increasing their width size to add capacity.

Your iPhone 15 Pro actually uses a Snapdragon X70 modem inside and it doesn't have to do additional work of DHCP routing via WiFi or wired. That's why modems are always slower than phones which can hit above 1Gbps on speedtests.

5G Phase 2 can go upto 10G speeds, it will give 10G Fiber a runs for its money.

First Zytel typo Zyxel 3 unit I got, faulty scam unit, it was a return unit and seller just send it back out.

Connected to b28 but will never get 5G speed only 4G using Yes 58. But interesting thing is that it didn’t use the 100GB 4G quota despite connected as 4G.

Changed to X50-5G, get 600 mbps easy.

That being said the X50 WiFi signal is rubbish, I guess that’s how they sell you the mesh nodes. My ASUS AC86U easily cover my whole house. The X50 WiFi is joke sia.

Time to cut my cheapo maxis RM89 home broadband.

How did u return the unit?
For my area I can't even get 5G on my phone hence I can't really know if my unit is faulty unit as it's always on 4G (with it reporting 5G has 1 bar)

Have anyone tried plugging your 5G modem with 2.5Gbps port to a 2.5Gbps Ethernet card in your PC?

Then place your modem somewhere with full signal and do a proper test?

I have a feeling the 1Gbps restriction is due to the lousy WiFi AP or 1Gbps wired Ethernet connection.

You will max out around 800-950 at most.
