I've tested it before, can get 5g using 5g router. only drawback every few days need to remember to buy the internet package. since it's prepaid & this internet add-on is not auto renewal one.

I think I can only get 4G for my Digi prepaid. Just need to keep reminding to buy but luckily via app which is easy.

I think H153-381 is not using Balong 5000, but lower-end chip MT5700G-CN by TD Tech.

My niece was using Digi prepaid until yesterday and she told me there’s no 5G shown on her phone. laugh.gif I transferred this number to her mom which is used by her now. So it means my Digi prepaid will have this issue also. She changed to XOX 1X-22  last night and got 5G. She’s so happy. laugh.gif

Anyway back to U Home 5G, I purposely terminated it on the last day of my plan (31st July) to avoid any follow-up for refund later on. Who knows I just received my latest statement from U Mobile and it shows it was terminated on 30th July and now I have a credit of 2.35 from U Mobile. laugh.gif sweat.gif

How's your experience for Umobile vs XOX in terms of 5G speed, ping and stability?

I think it is comparable in terms of speed and stability; they are using the same tower for my area. However, I noticed the only difference is UM doesn't cap speed for YouTube during peak hours, while XOX 1X-22 caps speed for YT, and the maximum I can watch is only 1080p. However, after past midnight, I can continue watching above 1080p until evening. I would say this is pretty annoying considering I watch a lot of YT videos at night. However, I'm only using an iPad, so I think I still can live with 1080p at certain hours, considering it is RM 72 (with SST) vs RM 22, the trade-off isn't that bad though I wish it never happened.

Oh ya, IG reels during those hours are not so smooth too... So... smile.gif If you want to replace UM 5G with XOX, I guess better not since it is 1TB vs 100GB. For my case, it is just a spare broadband and only use it once a while, that's fine.

hi may i know what router you using with u home 5g last time ? is it good?

im looking for a router for u home 5g, not using the contract as i want to test it first
most important usage is gaming latency on pc/ps5
read few pages in this thread seems like there a lot of router model not sure which support my usage

and is u home 5g better than yes 5g?

I'm using Zyxel NR5103E (v1), still using it with the 1X-22.

I was using YES Flexi 5G before switching to U Home 5G, using the same router I could say my experience with U Mobile was better. Faster download and upload speed, latency is also lower though YES is RM 10 cheaper.

Is it a good idea to test umobile 5g using phone and use personal hotspot to laptop to test speed and latency or i should still test with router to unlock its full speed and potential

If just to test test only, any device is OK but for long term usage, you definitely need a router. This is also for safety. sweat.gif

I am planning to terminate my unifi when the contract expires and switch to Umobile.
Many people here recommend to switch off the wifi in 5G modem and use another router as AP.
I want to know if old unifi router can be repurposed for this or is the router locked to unifi modem only?

If ur old router can change it's mode of operation from router to AP sure no problem. Got few tplink routers able to do this no problem. hmm.gif
