i think the question you should ask yourself is... what do you intend to do with the connection? web surfing, gaming, downloading, BT or other P2P file sharing?

i think the members here will be able to help you in more details if you state your expected use for the service...

Im thinking of gaming and chatting. and sometimes download too. will it be ok?

i thk this is not a problem, try to make a bridged between your NIC and e220. and then plug network cable from NIC to router .

There you go =)

My ratings:
Gaming = sad.gif (latency around 200ms to HK/China)
MSN = thumbup.gif (no prob with mine, no discon or whatsoever)
Download P2P = shakehead.gif bad... only un-throttle from 1am to 6am.... still bad unless you use WebUI or VPN.

But the real question is do you need the wireless ISP? If not, go back to streamyx, else i reckon Maxis is now leading the wireless pack.... but for how long... i'm waiting to see if Digi can do something about the current situation...

should be... never done it before... but saw it stated that you need to pay RM50... how long have you had your account... maybe there is some clause that states you can't transfer within the first and two months or something like that... they should provide a reason if they rejected your transfer...

from looking at the feedbacks... gaming seems like a no-no.. download in terms of p2p also a no-no except for 1am to 6am like JWCheah says...as far as HTTP and FTP downloads... i think can be considered OK providing your server has the adequate bandwidth to serve your connection and the route Maxis takes to reach your mentioned server is not too bad...

QUOTE(cry4freedom @ Jan 13 2008, 09:46 PM)

torrentflux i presume? however i can't be sure about HTTP... have you tried sites like nvidia.com... i like to use this as a benchmark... i could get about 50 to 70KBps at best on my 640 package if i don't run anything else concurrently...

many factors can affect this from the amount of hops it takes to reach your server or maybe the download server could not give you that much speed for your downloads...

have you done comparisons on the same files with other MaxisBB users and other broadband services... same file would be preferred and try to compare and see if there is much speed differences... if there is then it is a problem with your MaxisBB service... if there isn't then the problem lies with the source where the file is...

is this true?

10. TERMS AND TERMINATION

10.1 The Agreement shall commence on the Service Commencement Date and continues for a period of eighteen (18) months ("Initial Term"). Upon the expiry of the Initial Term, the Agreement shall automatically extend for further eighteen (18) months term (each term called "Renewal Term") unless Maxis or the Customer gives at least one (1) months prior written notice to the other party of its intention not to renew the Agreement for the subsequent term.

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/general/t...isbroadband.asp

so after 17 months and if i dont inform them that i dont want to continue the service i will automatically get another 18 months of nightmare?

Connection and speed: Good most of the time (sometimes bad), but can't reach over 1000kb/s (dl speed), at least for me...
Gaming: Not good for gaming, bcoz of high ping and unstable connection
3GB Limit: I haven't tried exceeding it yet, but a few users here have reported that they have exceeded and yet no extra charges imposed i think...

BTW i live in a double storey house in ss15...

This is a simple guide of "how to share your internet for huawei e220, sierra 875 and 875u" i learnt from microsoft website

first of all, u need check every thing i list out there is ready.
1) your 3g data card, connect it first before start.
2) computer with network card
3) wireless router (i am using linksys wrt54g)

To perform this internet sharing, your computer cannot be shutdown. this is because your computer will need to become a middle man between the 3g data card and wireless router.

INTRODUCTION
This article describes how to set up and use the Internet Connection Sharing feature in Microsoft Windows XP. With Internet Connection Sharing, you can use networked computers to share a single connection to the Internet.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing
To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer
On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
4. Click Network Connections.
5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For this, we choose our 3g data card network connection.
6. Click Properties.
7. Click the Advanced tab.
8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.

10. Click OK. You receive the following message:
When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
Connection Sharing?

11. Click Yes.
12. Plug a cable from NIC to router internet port.

The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

On the wireless router
just set your router to "automatic configuration DHCP" for the internet connection type.
