QUOTE(llhm87 @ Nov 25 2007, 01:08 AM) RSCP is Received signal code power. The higher the RSCP, the better is your signal. RSSI -58.5 dBm is quite good. I'm using power package as well. My download speed can reach up to 150Kbps. I mean direct download. what u get for ur RSCP and RSSI? so RSSI lower is better? thx for ur information~ i am new member using mxis broadband. This post has been edited by wedjohn57: Nov 25 2007, 01:16 AM |

QUOTE(prasys @ Nov 25 2007, 11:14 AM) The nearer to zero , the stronger the signal. Yours is weak. If it reaches -85 , you'll suffer disconnection , crappy speed , DNS timeout. Make sure its around -80 or so RSSI and RSCP also same nearer to zero better? Here is mine HSDPA (3.6Mbps) RSSI -68 dBm RSCP -75 dBm Ec/Io -7 dB coz i need to a best place to put my modem. |

QUOTE(cry4freedom @ Nov 28 2007, 01:33 AM) Hmm, I just subscribed Maxis Broadband and now I'm at Shah Alam Seksyen 7. Connection is like rollercoaster. With -90dB RSSI, I only can archive 150kbps, and sometimes my connection will be kicked out to EDGE. u try set ur modem only connect to HSDPA~ but -90dBm is very slow.try to find out the best place to place ur modem.I'm wondering, if we make complaint to Maxis due bad signal at our area, will they come and improve it? |

QUOTE(JWCheah @ Nov 28 2007, 01:51 PM) to aiman04: Using parabolic? U need to get below -70dBm for fast and stable connection. I've seen some complaining about getting discon from MSN and stuff but to be honest, i've not experiencing it at all. hey bro, take some photo of ur parabolic show to us~thx----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night when i was testing my newly made parabolic (made out of pringles tube), i manage to get -56dBm and the speed boosted from 750kbps to 1.6Mbps (i'll swallow my own quote below for being wrong I withdrew the statement above. hard to do or not? Added on November 28, 2007, 2:01 pmhow come every time when my zte modem is idle, it will HSDPA -> UTMS , but later when i continue using my modem wont go back to HSDPA? QUOTE(JWCheah @ Nov 28 2007, 02:15 PM) Maybe because your HSDPA slot has been occupied. I read some threads that you can have some background program running on auto-ping every 1 minute to avoid idle state but not sure if it works. I'm currently outstation but will post some pics once i'm back. but i disconnect then connect back again can get HSDPA~ anyone have auto-ping this software? |

QUOTE(prasys @ Nov 28 2007, 06:31 PM) Its normal , whenever it detects nobody is using the Internet , it will hop back to UMTS. It will convert back to HSDPA , when it sees a sudden burst of DATA..aka whenver you try to download something big. If it still fails , that means your HSDPA slot has been occupied ic,thx for the info~anyway, u guy using auto connect or manual connect? |

QUOTE(JWCheah @ Dec 2 2007, 09:14 PM) Strange discovery..... I got this #1 speedtest when i setup my modem outside the balcony (19th floor) situated about 1metre off the ground : which ftp site u always go for download~mind to share with us?i wan to try and c how fast i could get~![]() Then I was not happy and shifted it to about 2 meters off by hanging it on to side railing.... and then : ![]() I repeated the experiment and still the same phenomenon happen.... any communication engineers out there care to share why is this happening? but any how.... now my ftp download speed is well above 100kBps [attachmentid=352885] so to those USB users with the 5m extension cord.... try playing around with the height... u might get lucky....
