- the easiest way is to use theme.
- if you're a photoshop guru or dislike the theme available & would like to DIY, most of the icon file are in .png format in the /Applications folder inside each .app folder.
For example stock icon are inside /Application/Stock.app/ folder with name icon.png. There are some icon that name differently, like camera, photos & ipod.

I sync my contact from N73 to Outlook and after i sync Outlook punya contact (using iTune) with iphone, i still cant find any contact under "phone" or "sms" even after i restart my iphone anyone encounter this before? i sync it while my maxis simcard is in iphone. do i need to take out the simcard and sync?

Good news, Maxis customer support called me today and say that they have received their iphones and that they are working on fixing the problem. They actually responded to my online complaint! Kudos to them.

Haha.. I got a tricks to make unsupported new celcom 3G postpaid card to be use in IPhone.. Just finish testing.. But not so got news is, if you power off the iphone you need to do it again...

Okay, 1st step put atnt sim card (or any working simcard, digi, maxis) n power on.. Wait till got some signat bar / no network (i think) display..

2. Go to setting, carrier. If will search for network. (if no carier show, go back home and wait a while). wait till all 3 network found.

3. Press power button (put iphone on standy NOT OFF).

4. Replace the simcard with celcom.

5. Press power button. You will see the network list. Choose celcom and go home.. Never enter carrier menu again.

Note: on step 5 you need to unlock (keying sim card pin) 1st if you enable the sim lock.



Tested and working.... If poweroff need to do it again.

Don't know about others but my iPhone kinda wakes up even when it is on Aircraft mode when it detects an active cell tower. Had to turn off the iPhone instead of leaving it on Standby Aircraft mode twice while making the approach in Charles de Gaulle at 2000 feet.

Not that I'm asking everyone to start turning on their iPhones while in flight, but just a reminder that the Aircraft mode may not really disable the network.

guys just to ask about the maxis things. Just now I tried to call to my iPhone using maxis I get the message saying the number you that you dial is currently unavailable. You guys get this too? Last time I tried it just disconnect. If true then got some progress. If this discussed before then sorry, just testing posting with iPhone. Hehe.

i m usign 7.4.0

Anything but 7.4.2 and above. I used 7.3 to unlock, and now have moved to 7.4.1 so that i can get the iPod Touch to sync with iTunes (iPod Touch only syncs with iTunes 7.4 or later).

They just managed to get access to the file system of the 1.1.1 firmware - via symbolic links.. gawd!

My own comments on the thing.. maybe you ought to add more things to the first page..

1)Never do the cracking on Vista or 64-bit operating system, it doesn't work - somehow.
2)People who never own iPods before might wanna consider using 3rd party apps like Mediamonkey to do their album-cover-flow collection if they have time (been dying to do cover flow ever since I got it)
3)Jodix/Videora are both good converter applications to convert your videos to your iphone/ipods
4)GPRS/EDGE settings for all providers ought to be added
5)Bluetooth headset compatibility?

6)Highlight in BIG RED BOLD LETTERS that Maxis does not work with call in. and put in the thread subtitle to read first post FIRST.

I can add on point # 3 and # on that list. Videora or PSP Video 9, i have tried, gave a so-so PQ (picture quality) compared to the solution using Quicktime itself. Remember Quicktime and iTunes works hand in hand, so much that they are paired together for the installation download. Therefore, it is only logical to think and surmise that a video export using Quicktime will give the best video result with minimal pixellations and artifacting. I am very picky (read:anal) when it comes to video, and am willing to wait for hours upon hours for videos to finish encoding to see if they give the best result. If they dont, im more than willing to do the re-encode again, with other different sets of parameters, or change to different encoding solutions altogether. It is through my findings that, the MPEG Streamclip + Quicktime combo gave the best picture quality for movies encoded for the iPhone. In fact, latest version of Quicktime/Quicktime Pro even provide video export tab for "Movie to iPod/iPhone" for easy one-click movie exporting/conversion.

Personally , i have tried Videora and PSP Video 9, both gave very noticable pixellations and artifacting (that ugly blockiness due to inefficient compression used by these two programs). The solution im using, the "MPEG Streamclip + Quicktime" avoids this mess.

Why im using the MPEG Streamclip is so that i can have my movies RECOGNIZED by Quicktime as Quicktime .mov file extension. I find that the export/conversion from Quicktime-to-iPod/iPhone to be seamless and troublefree if you do it this way. Also take note that on some occasion , if you do direct export from within Quicktime itself, WITHOUT changing it into a .mov file format, you will lose audio. This is because Quicktime cannot demux and reencode audio properly, other than the recognized .mov format. This is the reason why i use MPEG Streamclip, this program enables me to export any movie file extension into .mov so that the conversion within Quicktime to an iPhone-compatible movie is seamless.

So basically:-

Any movie file format ==> MPEG Streamclip===> .mov Quicktime===>"Export Movie to iPod/iPhone" single click in Quicktime = pixellation/artifact-free movie for your iPhone.

As for point #5, I have tested the Garmin Nuvi 660 which i use as my GPS device AND Bluetooth answering receiver + speaker when im on the road. It pairs nicely, and im able to answer phone calls via the Nuvi itself without any complication. All my other SE, Jabra and iClip BT headsets works as well, so it is safe to say most if not all BT headset works.

Hmm, I've already had the phone for review since Monday. I've had no issues with DiGi at all. As for Maxis, I can't test it thoroughly as clients call me on this line but what I believe is Maxis will take their own sweet time 'fixing' it.

A blogger has sent a support to Maxis and they have replied with a "we're sorry but the apple iphone is currently not supported in Maxis."

As for videora, I'm getting errors of 100001 rather often. I've also been having some problems encoding anime stuff but am trying their solutions by experimenting with different settings. The best I've encountered thus far is from Quicktime export to iPhone. Video quality to my eyes is retained and sound is still good. I have no need to zoom into the video so yeah.

But like one person which I've shown the iphone to has said is too bad the videos are not made to 'fit' the screen. In order to do that, you need to play around with the ratio and etc.

Well, my iphone review is going to end soon but it's been sweet being able to play with it.

Im not really bothered by the black bar letterboxing of these movies, these are what they are shot at, and meddling with them by fixing aspect ratios will result in either chopped off sides or stretched movies. Having a non-pixellated movie running is top priority rather than filling the entire screen.

The Voicemail singletap also works on Celcom, the number is 1313. Anybody with Digi wants to confirm the code works on them as well? Wei, time to update the first post , i guess.

I use Digi on my iPhone as well, the voicemail single tap work without using the code, even:)

stringfellow, how do you handle multiple movies then? Or you do it one at a time?

I do concur that Quicktime produces nicer movies compared to others out there, but I can't stand having to click one movie at a time. With proper settings, iSquint/VisualHub on OSX comes very close to the output of Quicktime exports with significantly less time involved, even my C2D MB.

I guess I'm not just as anal with movie quality

ive used videora but somehow the converted movie is larger than the original movie that i had !:(

and it takes a while to convert

12 more hours to go !! hope mine is ver 1.02 or else it will have to be an ipod for me until 1.1.1 is hacked .. and hopefully by that time Maxis have resolve the call in problem *fingers crossed*

i jst went to buy 2 more iphone from the store (initally wanna buy 3 but only 2 iphones' serial number i confirm is v1.0.2, the other one only 90% confirm so dare not buy). come bck and open up check...oh yeahh...all is v1.0.2 or older gona ask friend help to carry two bck malaysia tonite for the buyers.

p/s: the apple shop sales ppl is asking me whether i wanna hack the phone or not coz i keep looking at the serial number. he said he's not gona sell me if i wanna hack it and i tell him i have the right to inspect everything before i buy, u have no right to say anything to me. Guess wat? he in the end keep quiet and sell me two iphones without saying anything...hahaha...tis is US, customers always the biggest. Stop whining, start getting a DiGi and forward incoming calls (if postpaid Maxis) to your DiGi.

Worst scenario is you have 2 phones. DiGi just get a 199-299 phone only lor. LOL!

The serial number that start with 7R738 and below are fw1.0.2 and below unless it's used or refurb... 7R739 has 80% chance of being a fw1.0.2 whereas, 7R740 and above are sure to be the evil 1.1.1...

Yes, I'm just done firmware update to 1.0.2 & jailbreak with my ipod cable.
The iPhone cable are still in the box. Hahaha. Planning to keep it in box.

keekee, what I meant is that I only tested & using the original ipod cable. should there be any issue with 3rd party one, i have no idea.

(I thought there was a tutorial to downgrade to 1.0.2 ? I know one exists that breaks the baseband and you can't make calls.. but eventually I thought there was one that works?)

went to the mac store at cineleisure thursday night..ask them about the iphone and he says that mac malaysia are trying to sign contract with iphone so that can bring into malaysia that are able to use our network....hopefully is true so i no need to hack it...

Steve Jobs won't sanction those kind of sales buddy - especially if you're like one of those Apple Resellers or affiliated officially with Apple like Apple Stores. I could be wrong, but yeah, I think it's a long shot. You're still not going to see it until like next year in Asia.

ipod touch is slimmer and shorter than iphone. i doubt it will fit

From what i heard, they probably start selling iphone here around February next year

And did you know that pak lah also using iphone? summore got official warranty from AT&T Malaysia
