Warranty is void. This is clearly stated in the EULA but heck, who reads 'em? Anyway i suppose you could restore your iPhone to the locked state and still gets ur warranty. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyway, i don't actually own the iPhone but the younger bro - the touch. I was wondering if anyone here own both these two wonderful devices and had the touch jailbroken as well?

Modding the Summer/Springboard? Easy as pie!

Download your favourite theme from AppTapp/Installer.app , then you can customise it within Summerboard preferences.

Or do it like what wei does, make your own Springboard backgrouns and icons! Use an app called "Customise" and fire away with your own homemade icons.

Preliminary report on my current attempt on jailbreaking the iPod Touch? Success!!! Used the TIFF exploit, and it's a one shot deal from there.

Hey bro, i guess a lot of people are waiting for your 'report' back in the touch thread. Probably you should go and say something tongue.gif
Anyway, i have got a friend going to California in a couple of weeks time so i thought of bringing in the iPhone as well. Does anyone know how the tax surcharge works, eh?

US sales tax or local customs tax?

US tax should be 6-8% depends on stage.

Err, ok to make the question easier... how much it would be like to bring a USD 399 Apple iPhone from California to Malaysia?
I mean, if you declare that as some sort of your personal items, can the taxes be waved?

If you bring one or two or three back nobody will care. However if you bring 16 back and the Malaysian Customs somehow finds out you may be in trouble biggrin.gif

I've never declared any of the individual electronic items that I've bought in the past many years I've been travelling. Pretty much all of them were taxable eg. iPods, iPhone, GPS etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't declare, I'm just stating how I did it in the past.
Nope, not bringing in a ton of it! Only 2-3 units if someone else wanna tag along to buy =) How much do you reckon one would be after tax?

Confirmed (from the apple website) 3rd party apps:

Some companies are already taking action. Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer. While this makes such a phone less than "totally open", we believe it is a step in the right direction. We are working on an advanced system which will offer developers broad access to natively program the iPhone's amazing software platform while at the same time protecting users from malicious programs.

We think a few months of patience now will be rewarded by many years of great third party applications running on safe and reliable iPhones.

Steve

P.S.: The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch.
Steve couldn't resist to give a jab back at nokia biggrin.gif

no no... i think tax could be waved...on the US side at least. i was told that i could be taxed in malaysia but if i open up the box and carry the phone like a personal item then can avoid from that la..
the one i worry is if i have to pay some kind of AT&T subscription fee or not...

im in US california state for quite some time already and now still stay here...i can 100% guaranteed you the california state sales tax of 8.25% canot be waved in any way (unless is has already being added to the price of the item). you dont have to subscribe any AT&T stupid plan, jst pay the phone displayed price plus the tax of 8.25%. About whether or not u will kena tax by malaysia custom when bring in the iphone, its depends on ur luck..
Ah ok ok tq... 8.25% would mean rougly RM100+. Still fine with me biggrin.gif
