They last longer than rubber valves. Normally the rubber valves get hardened over time & tend to get torn whenever you change tires.

Metal valves you do not need to change it everytime you change tires.

After a few sets of tire change, you only need to change the seals around the valves.

sometimes u change tyre they no change valve, i kenak before when pump tire the valve broke off 😅

I am always curious, what happen if a totally stock car was equipped with gripper tires.

Grippier tires as in those semi slick type like AD09/V720 or V730

Will the stock car suspension be overwhelmed with additional grip causing additional wear and tear?

Perhaps making the car slower since they cant take advantage of new found grip?

Does that mean upgrading stock suspension kit is essential to make full use of such tires?

It depends on how much down force you can apply to the tires (camber angle plays a big role here for normal cars)

You will definitely gain extra grip dues to higher micro surface contact area up to a certain point. Semi slick tires already have more contact points compare to normal tires so yea !

same speed same wear tear. higher speed become otherwise.
inspect tyre pressure & temperature to know more status.

Your rim is too narrow. Need to be at least 7.5" wide. Best is 8.0" wide.

Currently using Continental EcoContact6 on my SUV.

What I notice is , this tyre can be noisy and quiet at the same time.

On rough roads, the tyre roar can be really loud but on smooth roads it can get quiet.

Whenever driving I can feel a sudden dramatic change in road noise which I find very irritating.

Does anyone know what tyres are quieter than this?

My previous sedan using Bridgestone T005 was quieter or at least less irritating on rough roads but I don't know what is equivalent for SUV tyres.

There is no perfect tires, SUV tires tend to be larger compare to sedan unless your comparing like those big executive luxury sedan. The bigger size, the more contact point with the road the more road noise it will create.

If you want less noise SUV tire, look into the Environment - External noise data
No.1 in the list is Goodyear EfficientGrip 2
Follow by Nexen N Fera Sport SUV while the Michelin PS4 SUV on third place...

Yes will have additional wear and tear if you further utilize the added grip.
Negligible if you're just stuck in traffic jam.

Car won't be slower. Maybe only higher fuel consumption from more rolling resistance.

No, not essential, but recommended if you want to utilise more of the tire's potential.

Tyre manufacturers would likely consider this as normal and I won't be bothered by it.

If one is kiasi about it get the tyre removed from rim and inspect inner surface for any abnormalcy.

Hi to all, I got question to ask the tyre experts here.

My tyres bought on 2/10/21. When balancing, mechanic said can see tyre threads are not rotating straight. When tyres on balancing machine spinning, you can see the threads forming a wavy, left right pattern. Out of 4 tyres, 3 tyres showing certain degree of the wavy pattern. Mechanic also said 1 of the tyres not round anymore, slightly off shape but the feel of his hands and also mentioned no point balancing the tyres at current condition. Tyres also showing hairline cracks on the sidewall.

Are the above signs of issue with tyres or just something normal? I'm not sure if mechanic is falsely diagnosing the tyres?

I did went back to original tyre shop to ask seller how come tyres are like that. Not sure if they are pulling a fast one? They said the wavy pattern and hairline cracks are normal which also happen on other well known brand like michelin, bridgestone, etc. They also said if tyre really as mentioned, he wont be able to balance the tyres which he could balance it on his machine.

I have a SUV fitted with Continental UC6. Barely 3 years old, the tyre (front left) burst with almost all of the side wall ripped apart.

Been very careful on the tyres' pressure too.

Any particular reasons?

Maybe that tire was punctured earlier, & was low on air when the car was driven a bit fast.

This is gonna be a tough one this. Usually if a tire cannot be balanced, then its a uniformity issue - which for new tires, the tire shop shouldnt sell to you and instead sent the tire back for a warranty claim. But in your particular case, the tire is almost 2 years old now. So it might be a bit difficult to get a warranty claim from the manufacturer, but you could try nonetheless. The proper action is to go back to the original shop and ask them to balance the tire. If they can't, then ask if they can submit a warranty claim. But you will need to get a replacement tire if you do this.

The reason why I say it might be difficult to get a claim is:
1. the tire is already 2 years old
2. the issue may not be manufacturing but coming from day to day use

In any case, you mentioned that the 1st shop didn't do any balancing on that tire. What about the original tire shop? Did they balance the tire? If they didnt, then do you notice any vibration when you are driving? If you do not notice any vibration, the tire is "balanced" enough that you don't really need to be concerned.

Original tyre shop balanced all 4 tyres for me. All can be balanced supposedly as I seen on their machine. But im not sure if other brands do have this phenomenon?
So far no vibration while at around 110km/h.

Hi all sifu, I intend to change tyre soon. The seller told me to use Dec'22 manufactured tyre instead of June or July'23 cause the older tyre rubber already hardened which is better. Is it true?
