Hi all sifu, I intend to change tyre soon. The seller told me to use Dec'22 manufactured tyre instead of June or July'23 cause the older tyre rubber already hardened which is better. Is it true?

doesnt make sense to me. hardened = good?

Everyone has their own theory so to speak. Some said waiting a couple months for the rubber to cure (like wine aging) while some swear enjoy the smooth and soft rubber compound for noise free ride. I think it is all bullshit for normal and daily driving.

Original tyre shop balanced all 4 tyres for me. All can be balanced supposedly as I seen on their machine. But im not sure if other brands do have this phenomenon?
So far no vibration while at around 110km/h.

In that case i dont think there is any issue with your tire. Most likely the shop that said your tire has issue is trying to get you to change tire based on how the tire looks i.e. wavy, got crack etc.

this is subjective, if you in big city like KL, Johor, PG island the workmanship would be higher due to higher pay rent, worker cost etc..

Does the job include test drives, Before and After alignment?

'Problems' if any, is resolved?

Otherwise not worth it.

Myabe. But that mechanic did not push any tyres to me. So i wonder if he is baiting me instead? sweat.gif
There is something unusual about my tyres previously. When driving 70km/h n above for stretch of road, be it straight or a long bend for e.g 100m, my steering will become rigid/stuck, need to use some strength then can steer freely again.

After a rotation, problem seems to be gone. confused.gif

Hi TS, I've just driven past a slight curb and hit my tyre sidewalls
There's a slightly visible scartch just ever so slightly .
Should I be worried that the tyres are compromised
Especially since they're mc6 continental and have rather soft sidewalls

Look bad for a 2 yr old tyre.

Did you do alignment?

Do tyre rotation put it to the back and use until <40% then change both 2 or all 4

Adding to this reply - if alignment is ok, you might wanna check that tire's suspension. Might be something not working correctly hence that particular tire has excessive wear.

Thanks for advice. Both front two tyres have this type of condition. Both stock goodyear tyres. Never happened before to my previous cars. Decided to change all 4 new tyres this weekend.

Hi all sifus, I planned to changed my 235/55r19 donuts but wondering if there's any recommendations for comfort tyre?

Per sharing above, Goodyear efficientgrip 2 suv seems to be with lowest noise level in tyrereviews.com, is this tyre available in Malaysia? Anyone tried before?

Thanks

Hi,

Need advice.
Currently my Iriz front tyres also showing almost similar symptom (instead of crack, it's bald on the side thread) as the posted photo of Myvi tyres (uneven wear).
Another symptom is vibration and noise when going through uneven roads/potholes.
Sent to SC and was quoted to change below items:
1. FR absorbers ~RM1.1k
2. Stabilizer link RH, LH
3. Stabilizer bar bush
4. Steering rack ~RM1.1k

Due to budget constraint, I plan to change one of the items (either 1 or 4) quoted depending on which is more severe.
Is it compulsory to change all together at one go?
Appreciate sifu advice.

Thanks in advance.

From a purely tire longevity point of view, i would go with item 1. That would have the biggest impact to reduce uneven wear.

I dont know the condition of your steering rack. So i cant comment if this should be prioritzed or not. But item 4 will need almost all of the lower suspension components to be removed. So it might make sense to combine with item 2 and 3 since they going to remove it anyways to get to the steering rack.

So in summary you can combine item 2,3,4 as one work and item 1 as another.

Bro, if you no more warranty just go outside and get other mechanic feedback. Absorbers if no leak, it can be service back.
Same as steering rack, it can be fix or repair at a lower cost if no serious damage.
