Job Title : Product Manager
Age :30
Industry : Banking (IT)
Employment Level : AVP
Experience before joining (years) : 4 years
Location : KL
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): 50 hrs
Basic Salary: RM 9800 (15% increment only)
Allowance: RM 200

Should I take this offer? Is AVP average salary usually this low?
*
Your expected salary is more than this and they counter you with 15% increment? I think you should negotiate for a higher increment. Depending on which bank you are applying to, AVP position might be in abundance. But I think it can be slightly higher than this.

Usually the band for an AVP starts from RM9k-RM12k for most banks in IT. Assuming that AVP is also the AM (assistant manager) to other similar roles. For banks, don't focus on the title but also it looks at the internal leveling. Some banks use bands, some uses number levels, etc..etc..

*Currently will pursue DPLI to apply SPP, become teacher.

*dont know to depressed or happy after unemployed for 1 yrs before get a job. Depressed because i dont have job, but also happy bcuz i able to completed stock market and fcpo technique(maybe one day will be useful to me). Hoping to rest another year while pursue DPLI to completed scalping technique for bursa(actually 50% complete). Blessing or curse?

*For those who read, dont be depress with when reading their salary(10k+++). Mathematically, only few able to achieve that, that why ranging 10k+ called T20 and in few field (actuary, engineer and software). Most i met, range from 6-8k for 30+(i take engin. cert, so this is what they told me). If that many able to get 10k++, they would not stay in apartment(i work at Bagan previously as delivery rider), instead of lavish kondo or landed house.

*Also if i had a permanent job, i want to set up business ecommerce.

Sorry but you're wrong. Salary all depends which industry you're from, the more niche it is the higher demand =higher salary. In my industry (sorry can't disclose cause it's a niche industry), I'm paying my Senior Manager 13k, Technical Manager 16k, BD Manager 12k but more junior Executive between 3.2 - 4.2k. My level as BD Director with 13 years experience, I'm >30k basic excluding bonus 6 figures if we hit our target.

Actively applying on linked in, applications just on linked in alone is about 15 per week, 60 per month and 720 per year for 3 years on average

mycareers future is highly dependent as most jobs posted have already been filled and less than 50% are actual jobs but need to have wp/ep/s pass/pr.

Having a PR helps if you have a spouse already working then can convert together however highly depending on children, education, race and etc.

Persistent during interviews and must always research company background and how you have global mindset hence need to be working with other countries and also how you can contribute and adapt to working in SG.

The list goes on and on, however above are just the bare basics you can do now or at least start planning.

If I'm getting offered S$13K to relocate to Singapore for a similar role & responsibilities, which country offers a better life quality in your opinion? I'm married with a young kid, KL Local, pretty comfortable. SG income tax is lower but close to impossible owning a car there with S$13k, even though I know the transport system there is brilliant. Thoughts?

Imo quality of life in myr with your salary trumps sg 13k.

1) rental is expensive in sg. Additionally the downpayment for a new place is crazy assuming you going for private projects with a 30% downpayment iinm. Meaning, you are nowhere close to owning a home for the next few years on top of paying rental.

2) if you are childless, yes public transportation is ok. But imaging having a baby/toddler and going to buy groceries? Not easy.

3) you didn take into account your wife who if working will most likely need to find a role there as well. If your wife has income here, you will have even better disposable income.

With your salary here you can easily buy your own place instead of renting along with 2 cars at 2k installment a month.

You'll be better off staying in KL with your RM salary and everything already set up.
Only consider the move if you have other less tangible priorities (you think there's more opportunities in future, prefer the lifestyle, value the education system, etc) and are willing to "downgrade" for a few years".

Rental and schooling costs will more than offset any gains from the lower income tax.

Thanks for the valuable input!

I heard from my SG counterpart that non Citizen has to pay like S$500 per month for schooling in government school.

Intangible priorities mentioned are also part of my consideration, eg: political stability and child's education.

However, undeniably housing & car ownership can seem like a major downgrade in SG considering the costs involved.
