Wow...See so many youngsters get so high salary makes me a bit depressed. but I am somewhat satisfied with my current arrangement

Job Title : Sales Exec

Age : 30
Years spent in company : few months
Company : Small cap company listed on Bursa
Industry : Chemicals
Tenure :
Employment Level :
Experience before joining (years) : 6
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Engineering degree
Location : KL/ PJ mostly but may travel all over malaysia
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): 35

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary + Fixed Allowance : RM 5400 + 800 transport allowance
Contractual Bonus (months): 1 mths
Performance, Variable Bonus & Commissions (months) : dunno how much because just joined
Work Flexibility (where relevant) : Meet client a lot so hours are considered flexible
Work From Home Availability: X days in a month
Annual Leaves: 14 days
Flexi Working Hours : quite flexible. Just need do some paper work in office once in a while

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : insurance and medical. 400 per year for optical and dental
Transport Benefits : claim toll, parking and petrol aside from allowance stated above
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : company phone and data plan
Other Benefits :

Future Prospects (personal outlook) :
Current salary against peers in industry :For sales exec I think this pay is decent for the amount of work that needs to be done and WLB
Growth prospects : Development of new products is harder than I thought. Requires a lot of communication skills and patience. Those who say AI can replace sales and business development easily really dreaming. Your client can reject the AI more easily than a human. I believe there is always a strong demand for sales, marketing and business development
Where I will go from here : Depends on my performance in current place for this few years. Hope to go to leadership or management position in 5 more years.

Some background:
I started working in 2016 where I was some kuli in manufacturing.
2016 pay was RM2900. When I quit in 2019 it was 3500.

Then I joined a sales and service company (MNC)
The pay was only RM3800. But I took it because I was sick of the previous company and new company also offered me company car.
When I quit in 2022 because of crazy middle management my pay was RM4400. I would say I missed out on big pay jump in this second job. But I saved quite a bit as I did not have much commitment at that time. Work load was also less due to MCO shortly after I joined.

Then from that RM4400 jump to my current RM6200. I don't really hope to jump again for the next big increment; since I think my current place is quite good.

Hi guys it's me again. After a crazy ride during Covid years, being constructively dismissed and laid off for the first time in my life, I'm now back with the following package:

Job Title : Regional Digital Projects Specialist / Project Manager (ASEAN incl AU/NZ)
Job Desciption : Subject Matter Expert supporting strategic direction and execution for B2B digitization projects
Age : 33
Years spent in company : 5 months so far coming to 6
Company : MNC
Industry : CPG
Tenure : 6 months contract
Employment Level : Mid-Senior
Experience before joining (years) : 9 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
Location : Kuala Lumpur / Remote (Hybrid)
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): Varies. As long as the work gets done. No punch in punch out.

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary + Fixed Allowance : RM 20,000
Contractual Bonus (months): 0.5 months
Performance, Variable Bonus & Commissions (months) : N/A

Work Flexibility (where relevant) : Yes
Work From Home Availability: As many days as you want
Annual Leaves: 10.5 days
Flexi Working Hours : Yes

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits : Group Hospitalization no co-pay fees
Transport Benefits : Mileage claim RM0.80/km
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits : laptop, headphones, mobile package (highest maxis business postpaid plan RM188 per month)
Other Benefits : free company products (consume as much as you want), regular team building activities (fully paid by company),

Future Prospects (personal outlook) :
Current salary against peers in industry : Don't know, can anyone give some feedback? Thanks.
Growth prospects : Contract, so no idea. They prefer to give open permanent positions to existing employees. But 6 months is a short time to secure a permanent placement so it depends on whether opportunities open up which is seldom in this company
Where I will go from here : Already looking out for opportunities similar to the current where it is an individual contributor role (Project Management, Specialist, Business Analyst etc.) and in a similar industry (CPG)

Additionally, if anyone is looking for a highly accomplished Project Manager with expertise in B2B SaaS platforms, Fintech, and blockchain technology DM me. Would love to see how we can work together.

Stumbled upon this thread and since I got asked this a lot so might as well do this anonymously.

Job Title : Chief Actuary
Job Desciption : Whatever deemed actuarial
Age : 38
Years spent in company : 10
Company : -
Industry : Insurance
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Management
Experience before joining (years) : 4
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Actuarial fellowship
Location : KL
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): 40+

Basic Salary + Fixed Allowance : RM48k
Performance: 3-5 mths
Flexi Working Hours: Partial

Now let’s be clear, to succeed in this field you will need a lot of hard work and perseverance (9-12 professional exams, average pass rate of 30-40%, recommended 150-200 study hours per exam), technical and soft skills that set you apart from your peers at each level unless you have connections (at entry level every year hundreds if not thousands of graduates fighting for just a few openings), and a LOT of lucks which means your hard work may not always pay off. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. But then if you don’t confine yourself to Malaysia, there are a lot of international opportunities especially if you are qualified.

So consider yourself warned.

Let's be real here.... actuaries are lucky because of BNM and also the industry in general demanding certain position requires said qualification....

Actuarial exams aren't as tough as CFA or even many other professional exams out there....

If the difficulty of qualification = high pay.... then whoever achieved top in the world in any chartered qualification... should automatically be CEO then??? Even if the qualification itself is easier.... we are literally talking about near impossible difficulty because you cannot even redo/have a second shot in getting top in the world...

Passing actuarial papers is just an eventual means as long as that person doesn't give up... I'm not from the insurance industry but I know even in your industry ... there are also only a small number of people holding chartered insurer title despite the exam is much easier than actuarial for most people.... however... those who held the title don't get the same luxury as qualified actuaries because BNM never gave a mandate that only chartered insurers can hold the Head of Claim/Underwriting/Marketing position...

Besides... difficulty of exams are also often subjective because I personally know a few qualified fellow actuary cannot get through chartered insurance exams and gave up.... one person might find stats/numbers easier but theories/research difficult....vice versa

Get out of here with that logic dude. Do not diminish the difficulty of passing actuarial papers.

Though I agree with the rest.

CFA is known to be the hardest exam based on google... not my own words whistling.gif whistling.gif

Again... every exam has its own difficulty because some do well with numbers but can't do well in other studies... vice versa...

Similarly... some people can pass medical exams easily but having a though time getting through accounting exams doesn't mean medical exams are easier than accounting...

Like I said... I actually know quite a few people who have fellow actuary but couldn't get through chartered insurance exams... but that doesn't mean actuarial exam difficulty is diminished...

I can't stress this enough but if actuarial want to boast about "I got high pay because I achieve something very little people achieve" then whoever achieved top in the world in chartered exams should automatically become the CEO in their industry since it is literally the hardest thing anyone could ever dream of achieving... especially if you are talking about people achieving it coming from third world countries... literally almost ZERO

*My company deployed me outside of Japan to work so they provided this kind of benefit. They will not provide this kind of benefit if I worked inside Japan.
*My company have Malaysia subsidiary and if I am to be deployed there, same benefit still applies because they still consider me "employee based in HQ Japan."

This is a good job.
Health and safety. Good pay for pretty straight forward responsibility.

Providing update to my current career journey. I jumped to a new company on Jun 2022.

Other Benefits :

Future Prospects (personal outlook) :
Current salary against peers in industry : Not sure
Growth prospects : Got room for growth and maybe internal promotion but need to stay for longer period
Where I will go from here : Attended 3-4 interviews and got an offer
*

So after 1 year of staying, I decided to interview at several open positions and I got an offer. This new offer from the company is only an increment of 5.6%. But the benefits are better. I want to ask you guys opinions, what should I do? Should I accept?

Notes:
New company is MNC as well. Bonus is around 1.5 - 3 months. Medical cover myself and dependents (current company only self).
The new company also requires employee to work at the office maybe around 8-10 days in a months (but it depends on your team, my team require to go office 1 once per week).
Job scope I would say pretty same.
