Also good luck if you won a Sony TV from lucky draw. My colleague won one 6 months ago, lately got issue ask them to come check, because no receipt since it's a lucky draw so considered no warranty. Sony charged RM140 for inspection and transportation. Say need to change panel RM2k++.

Today went to my parent house the saw the 90k I bought for them. To be frank, really could not get used to it or should say accepting it.

Becos too get used to the A80J I have. Cannot accept the fact that the black on X90K is not true black. Although for bright scene it is perfectly ok.

Luckily my parents only watch free air channels most of the time and with a little bit of the YouTube. So in terms of their usage, X90K is really more than sufficient. Else, actually kind of regret not to get the OLED for them.

Really true that once used OLED cannot go back to LCD anymore.

OLED at one time was really expensive, 4 years ago when I bought mine, was really considering OLED, since Im moving from Pana Plasma V series...just that budget wise didnt make sense. took my 85x90h for 12K, else it would have been 65in OLED, felt too small for my need. I took it with 5yrs warranty.

My Plasma still works well, but 50in was too small, and my hall setting was different back then.

Wow rm12k dor a tv. I have yet to spend such amount in a tv yet. 🤪
x90h that time should be full array tv like x90k I supposed?

75-inch Bravia 5 (new one) is about rm9999 with free wh-1000xm6 (Sony brand new headphone) for free.

If given a choice I will still opt for OLED tv but smaller size as OLED really makes day and night difference and once one has used OLED tv before, can not go back.

My current A80J is small at 55-inch but given it is OLED, it still gives me excellent movie experience. 🤪

Icic. Then not bad at least. Bigger screen size of 85-inch the experience is also superb.

Hi folks,

I am getting a bit fed up with my current Sony A80J, out of warranty and there's burn in mark already. I watch a lot of news so very easy to get this.

Thinking of getting the new Bravia 8 ii when it comes out, but so far internet review is super expensive. Can I check if the new Bravia 5 is any legit? Their new mini led tv.

I am also considering the premium version of TCL, but I don't know if TCL support and quality there. Review seems not bad and much cheaper than Sony. Would TCL be legit enough to replace Sony A80J?

I can get mini led or oled, no difference to me. Watch mainly youtube and tvbox/netflix.

Not sure about TCL. But if you are considering Bravia 8 ii QD-OLED then you can consider the 2025 Samsung S90F/95F cause the 8 ii is using Samsung QD-OLED panel also if you don’t mind not having Dolby Vision.

Netflix recently activated HDR10+ on the latest 2025 Samsung TVs and some older models which support AV1 codec. So I have been doing a lot of comparison between LG OLED Dolby Vision vs Samsung QD-OLED HDR10+. I can say it’s a tie between DV and HDR10+. Obviously a lot would say Dolby Vision has the upper hand and more superior. But real scene highlights to me look similar at least.

But when it comes to “colour luminance and volume”, I can say that QD-OLED really helps with not just the “brighter than bright” peak brightness, the colour saturation when at higher brightness is very punchy and making the overall PQ even more impactful with white point close to D65. QD-OLED also has almost perfect uniformity and less banding issue.

So I reckon the 8 ii will perform even better. So yeah, you can consider the Samsung or the Sony QD-OLED. Either will be miles better.

Wow. How long u had used ur A80J
Mine is almost 2 years so far so good. But I watch movies and YouTube more. Rarely watch free air channels so I supposed should be safer.

My experience with A80J tells me that even if u just watch free air channels and YouTube, can still tell the difference. As the black level still make the picture quality nicer even on these content. I can be sure Becos I just compare it today with x90k. It is certainly able to tell the difference with eyes.

Besides how bad is the burnt mark actually? A80J has a feature that can refresh the panel to attempt to reduce or remove the burnt mark. Have you tried it already also?

I had been constantly viewing all the models of Sony tvs at electrical shops or home fairs etc.

While there is no Bravia 9 on display which is the best and highest end TVs which Sony even place it above Bravia 8 oled and Bravia 8 mark II. My experience with Bravia 7 and Brivia 5 today I can say that they are still no way comparable to OLED. The true black does make day and night difference which I can tell a display if it is OLED or mini LED easily.

Since u have been using A80J OLED all the while, u can certainly tell this difference still if u downgrade to mini led.

Bravia 8 mark II is not cheap. About at least rm4k to 5k extra comparing to Bravia 8 at the same size.

But I am sure it is certainly better overall comparing to Bravia 8.

I used more than 2 years already. Already changed one time the oled panel during the 2 years warranty and after one year now slight marks. I watch those youtube talk shows etc, so tons of static icons here and there. Bravia 9 is mini led right? Sony after sales quite good. So not sure about TCL.

I thought now the newer mini led is as good or better than oled? Anyway I will wait to see the price first. TCL looks so much cheaper. C8k specs look good. I watch mainly live competitions (game) and news/talk show type of shows in youtube.

it only gets closer and closer but can never be the same like OLED. this is hardware limitation. The only technology can match or even beat OLED is microLED for now.

then now the manufacturer is coming up with RGB mini-LED which is meant be even better than the mini-LED but ultimately still cannot match the true black in OLED. only thing that it wins over OLED is brightness only.

Personally i can see the difference between OLED and LED or even mini-LED and i am comparing between sony TVs.
Even watching youtube video only also can tell the difference. The black is too obvious and the true black on OLED can create really high constrast ratio to tell the difference.
Suggest you to see the TV in person to confirm that it reallly meets ur need.

Saw Bravia 5, 8 mark II in real.

Also first time see Bravia 9 in real Becos bolehland hardly any show got display the Bravia 9 even I dun see it in Sony centre.

5 is quite decent in terms of picture quality and brightness.
Quite a good choice to buy as basic usage comparing to Bravia 3 which is quite significantly worse off than Bravia 5.

Bravia 9 is quite disappointing actually. It is brighter than Bravia 5 but similar to what I said, I can still tell the difference between it and Bravia 8 and 8 mark ii. The black is no way matched to oled models. Bravia 9 is also significantly thicker in the display due to the limitation of the hardware.

If u pay attention to the photo i took, it has obvious blooming still with totally black background with white wording.

Even Bravia 9 is marketed higher than 8 by Sony. One actually should opt for Bravia 8 mark ii instead as it has almost same brightness as Bravia 9 but picture quality is way better due to higher contrast due to true black.

Bravia 8 mark II is slightly better than 8 due to brighter display no doubt while none of the scene u will feel that it is not bright enough. while Bravia 8 certain scenes can feel a bit not bright enough but acceptable for most scenes.

And in terms of energy used, can see that oled is utilising lesser electrify than LEDs.

I find OLED acceptable if your living room is dark. My house has a lot of natural lighting coming into my living room during daytime, OLED is a nightmare as it is just not bright enough. In the end I ended up purchasing another mini LED for my living room. OLED move to upstairs hall.

I thought the Samsung's OLED panel is from LG no?
