HEY .. I thought I posted a reply to this thread !!

@seale_navy,
Ah well, it's time to put ur selling skills into action - just try to convince her the pros of getting the Mac u want ... Also, we don't need big warehouses as service centres/areas because the system's stabil enough, unlike uhm... other brands tongue.gif

@seale_navy,
From my experience with the folks, DESIGN and NICE doesn't quite sell as much as functionality and usability so make sure u have those too. A v good point u can make is that with an OSX U don't have to worry about virus attacks smile.gif

Quote from the article:

"With a 1.2% increase in performance due to Intel’s DAT, we can’t really get excited about this technology. It’s very rare that it will be working, and when it is the 7.7% increase in clock speed just isn’t enough to increase performance significantly at all. It looks like Intel’s DAT is more of a gimmick rather than something to get excited about."

looks like the new penryn isn't really that great..

honestly, other than the 120GB HDD space, I don't see why I should feel gutted for missing out on the penryn chipset MB.

yup no virus attack is like the best argument for buying a mac.. just scare your mom how your friends had to reformat their pc and lost all their important data on their pc.. and macs are less likely to crash unlike xp and vista (i get 4-5 crashes a week using XP) and none on mac.

bout the design, yeah its kinda pretty b4 you own it, but after that when u're using it everyday, you just get used to it and just you wait a couple months more, your macbook will turn yellowish with stains all over and its so ugly and disgusting unless you protect it with casing and stuffs.

i leave my macbook 24/7 sometimes for dl and its still fine

well, if u got extra cash, go for MBP as they are clearing the MBP 2.2 @ RM5799!!!! if they still got stock.

Well, I've bought my MB 2.2 in end jan and eversince, i've no regrets in buying it. In fact, I'm gonna get an Imac soon, hopefully.

The speed is just amazing, let's just say the booting time is less than 30 secs and my xp, well it takes almost 5mins!!!! Henceforth u will spend more time in being more productivity rather than just wait for your pc to wake up!!!!

As for the OSX, Vista is definitely a loser as my gf notebook is running vista, it's super slow..... till i dozed off awaiting it to boot up.

Well i think a laptop is meant to be all about portability not heavy usage, yes i know that a MB and MBP can perform that sort of task but still i'd rather setup a RM600 rig and configure it with remote and 24/7 it for downloads. My thoughts.

I use a old P4 system for torrents and downloads. Does the job well smile.gif

For everything else, the MacBook does it.

I've no problems having my MBP switched on 24/7 too - when it's idling it just goes to 'sleep'.

@civic98,
U leaving ur system on 24/7 is slightly different cause ur up in the Highlands - we're in the Lowlands *grins*

@seale_navy,
So, did u manage to convince ur mom?

unfortunately my mum and dad does not see eye to eye with me on the macbook..and this are the following reason
1) is white ...surely turn yellow...a statement made by dad outside of machine
2) what leopard ? and where 'my computer"?
3)huh ,Apple product not famous quoted by my mum
4) Dad says if you buy macbook not compatible with other windows stuff
5) the machine at KLCC staff, not really friendly.

after that I went back to the machine again to asked about the macbook...and the base model is out of stock and only left the black macbook which is selling at RM4299...super cheap. So for those can realise their macbook dream go ahead...smile.gif

sad..sad no mood to do assignment...thanks for the support though.

hey mate, don't be sad with their decision.... let's work the other way round...

who's favouring u to get a mb?? father or mother??? if mom, then bring mom only... shoot, then dad's supposed to foot the bill.....

ok, for those

1) is white ...surely turn yellow...a statement made by dad outside of machine - got protector mah, i'm using specks protector, blue in colour.

2) what leopard ? and where 'my computer"? it's all in hdd

3)huh ,Apple product not famous quoted by my mum - says who??? in Q4, Apple ships out more than 2.3Million macs.. yes, their market share is low compared to other brands but their products got class and quality..... If you go pc fair, those 2K++ notebook is normally either centrino or core duo chipset only, if u go for Core2Duo, it will still set u some 3-4K.... take a look -----> www.dell.com.my

4) Dad says if you buy macbook not compatible with other windows stuff ----> we now got bootcamp and parallel desktop where u can run windows os + apps!!!! I haven't really tried it but a friend of mine did it and according to him, it works.

Try calling few others macstores around & see which one gives u the best promo and ex stock availability.... then try ur luck wif ur parents again.

U will never forget the experience of opening a NIB Mac... it's sheer joy & fun!!! trust me.

Btw, good luck and godspeed.
