Currently i am using RT-AC5300 as main router and 2 both AP ZenWiFi AX mesh wifi ..if i want to use ZenWiFi AX as main router can or cannot ? using merlin driver ? + performance issue ? who have experience on ZenWiFi AX

So I bought this router during the 22nd March sale. Got delivered within the next day by DHL. The router is good for the price range which I bought for RM139.77 with 300coins cashback(RM136.77 after taking into account the 300 coins cashback). Been using it for 9 days now and I never encountered any issues. Previously, I was using the unifi stock TP-link Archer AC1200 which does auto-reboot randomly itself. Is good that finally I ditch the stock TM router. To those who are using the stock unifi router, get yourself a own router. You can get the router at cheap prices during the upcoming 4.4 sales, 7.7, 8.8, 9.9, 10.10, 11.11 and 12.12 sales. The prices during this period are much much cheaper than during usual days. Just monitor the prices on shopee and Lazada. Follow Ookas, Ookas plus, Mono Digital other than the manufacture stores to get good deals. The price for this newly launched AC router has dropped in prices quiet a lot. Who knew that for a higher series router AC2100 can get for below RM140! BTW I just get this router for 1+ year usage till the wifi6e router comes out. Will be changing the devices as well so yeah.

How is the wifi performance? My parent's complained about WhatsApp video call lagging and tv box lagging sometimes. I was wondering about lagging perhaps due to TM router. So I plan to upgrade that router and my parent's only UNIFI 30Mbps. No need to buy a high-end router to cater to their needs.

if the wifi performance is good, but the internet is still lagging, it means that the internet problem is caused by the amount of device that is being connected. because every connected device needs good internet performance

Yes, I know but there are only 2 old parents and my 2 children there. Connected devices not more than 10 and not more than 5 concurrently instead. That's the reason I want to change that tm router.

The WiFi performance is solid. Till now I have never experience any WiFi drop connection. Regarding the WhatsApp call issue may I know what phone your parents is using? Because my mom's phone which is Oppo A53 does have this issue. But not all the contacts she make have till issue. Only 2 contacts does she experience with this issue. One house is using Copper with Netis orange VDSL and another fibre with the stock TP link Archer AC1200 router. I am figuring out is this WhatsApp app issue or the phone issue. My phone which is Honor does not have this issue. Hope you could reply back to me regarding this.

I am using 100Mbps with 4 smartphones and astro ultra box and unifi plus box connected through Lan connection. But still my mom's Oppo A53 have this WhatsApp video call issue 😐. The other 3 phones does not have this issue. I did emailed to WhatsApp with the logs and they said its not the app issue. They replied saying I must connected to high speed broadband/4G connection.I am staying in main city with strong mobile network connection. The fibre cable was installed in my house last August. So its not the Internet connection.

My mother was using Huawei y9 prime, and my wife was using Huawei y9 2019. But they said got lagging sometimes when they video call via WhatsApp. I suspected the netis router so I decide to change it to a budget model since my parents just use a 30Mbps package.

Does anyone use 100Mbps with the modem HG850a which it doesn't support gigabit ethernet. I tried few times to request change, still no luck... always said the speed is fast enough, my here always cap at 92Mbps due to the modem...

The netis one crap shit from TM. Previously when my house was under VDSL they provided me this orange shit and during the first MCO last March the WiFi stop working 😑. Just get a router during the upcoming 4.4 sale. The WhatsApp video call lagging right till now I have no idea is it really the phone or network issue. After change to my own router, my mom's phone still have this issue. As I mentioned since it only affected to 2 person whom she always makes call, one of them using the 100Mbps with the stock TP link AC1200 router and another one is VDSL with the orange netis(They are staying in condo at KL but no fibre yet 🙃). Since you have only mentioned its 30Mbps you can get the Dlink which I got for myself. This router is too good for the price. Follow the Dlink Shopee store and during the 4.4 sale between 12am-2am, the price will drop to RM 140. Then they will provide you RM 5 voucher. Claim and apply it before checking out. You need to pay for the shipping fees which is around RM 4.47 for DHL. They delivered to me within a day. Their shop is viewnet at Lowyat. Guys want to know is it normal on the 2.4ghz wifi the whole house wifi signal is 4-5 bars. But for 5ghz only the floor where the router is can get 4-5 bars and other floors only can get 1-2 bars??

When I did the upgrade from 50M to 100M in 2017 (RM10 RYE2017 upgrade), TM changed my HG850a to a gigabit HG8240H. Not sure why they didn't change yours.

I changed to 100Mbps plan on end of 2019 (YEP 2019) - RM129 from 50Mbps (at that time RM179), that time they just provide a new router (DIR-842), that time they said change modem need do another request. Today I had changed new router TP-link AX73, and just now try my luck to ask for change it, but still no luck. (I used live chat to try, call 100 will helps?)

I had asked few times already to request that, but they said, is already satisfied/enough to reach the speed... Then if there is no any free speed upgrades in the future, that means I would stick with the speed (less than 94Mbps) forever?
