any intl warranty for ssd/nvme? or need to send back to US for RMA?

i think you should claim warranty from the origin country, through the seller. sorry i don't have experience about rma for ssds. maybe someone else knows more.

anyone can recommend a good 4TB SATA SSD? both of my 870 EVO are showing signs of rapid degradation and failure and I don't want to wait. I'm going to transfer all the data from both SSDs to a 4TB SATA SSD. please recommend me a good one 🙏

also, anyone ever has experience on RMAing through Amazon? I'm gonna RMA both 870 EVO too.

i have bought 2 pairs of 2tb from the same shop last few weeks ago. the recent batch had slight delays, but delivered after a day or two.

they did respond to dm, but maybe not timely enough.

How old are your 870 EVOs?

4TB sata not many choices locally, crucial mx500 and the, well, 870 EVO. Also i read sumwhere here amazon US will only help within X days of purchase, after dat u deal directly with Samsung USA.

NVMe should be ok. I just need an SSD to store my data while the drives are away for RMA. I don't mind an upgrade.

I purchased my 870 EVOs on April 2021 via Amazon. I suspect they are the first batch of 870 EVOs.
one has written about 9TB, another less than 4TB
the bad blocks and uncorrectable error counts are extremely worrying as it partially corrupted a few of my files stored within. the corruption is not a total corruption but bad sectors are preventing the files from being copied and moved, while having no problem reading these "corrupted" files. this is a very bad early sign albeit it hasn't reached a point where my data is totally unrecoverable.

just by googling "870 evo failure" yield a top result from techpowerup. 12 total pages of people mentioning about their failing 870 EVOs, all pointing towards early batches of 870 EVOs. mine are part of the early batch.

That's infamous 0E error also affects earlier batches of 980 Pro (and some later batches of 970Evo+ which swapped to same controllers as 980pro)

You can always RMA it to samsung but be sure you got backups

I'm aware of it and I'm planning to do so, which is why I'm asking for 4TB SSD advice sweat.gif I need to move some of my files elsewhere, away from my 870 EVOs and then wipe the drives clean and RMA them. I do have other drives as shown above but most of them are occupied. I've moved the files from one of my 870 EVOs to an external backup HDD already. the other one I want to move it over to a new SSD because it requires fast read speed. I can recover all of the files since I know where to get them back and they're not highly critical.

If just for backup purpose, any 4tb sata from known brand is fine

Except Adata and Kingston and Taiwanese/cainis brand of course

My suggestion: Crucial BX500 or MX500 (depending budget), or 870 QVO if you want stick to samsung

I search Shopee and Lazada, only saw Crucial and Samsung that have 4TB SATA SSD.

How about instead get any cheap 2 x 2TB SSD, put as RAID1 as temporary replacement for the need of fast read speed. When you get back your 870 after RMA, change all 4 SSD as RAID5. You'll have 6TB fast storage space and no need to worry if any one of the SSD suddenly die.

2TB SATA SSD more choice but many cheaper option don't have DRAM cache. Can check here whether got DRAM

good idea but my case seems to not have enough room for extra SATA SSDs anymore unfortunately. each SATA SSD requires a SATA connection to motherboard, and a SATA power cable from the PSU. adding more cables will cause significant amount of headache to rewire/add those cables again into the back of my PC which already have some cables pushing against the panel laugh.gif the reason I was asking for 4TB SSD this morning is because I could also retire one of my older 860 EVO and use as external storage. seems to me the best bet would be an NVMe instead.

I will also post some results regarding to both of my 870 EVOs after doing some full scans on them. be advised they're NOT looking good.

this may serve a good case for those who want to buy a Samsung SSD this year or so. last time they have good QC, I've been using them since 700 series (750 EVO etc.)

this time around their QCs have been extremely lackluster. I'm having 2 drives failing at almost the same rate.

i found another user report for samsung for 870 evo 2tb and 4tb with similar issues, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoyd4xu3T3s (the affected drives were made in 2021, and the guy bought them from amazon also)

i'm not sure if this is amazon-specific or a world-wide supply issue, but yeah shit happened. i guess your local choice for 4tb drives is crucial mx500.

unreliable nand sourcing. some of them mix the nand flash in different batches. is better to get from reputable brand that also produce nand themselves like samseng, crucial(micron) or wd/sandick/kioxia

ps: intel quit and sold to sk hynix, ongoing rebranding to solidigm, sk hynix no presence in malaysia market for now

WD negatively is actually because them somehow downgrade their spec in their successors eg SN750 SE and SA510 being downgrade of SN750 og and blue 3d, but you can consider their older model as long as still got stock

oem got right to change components without any notice or something, maybe that intel one is out of production, so hp use another model like sk one as replacement but too lazy to amend their spec list
