Important Update for Kingston KC3000 and Kingston Fury Renegade 4.0 SSD Owners Please update your SSD firmware to the latest version using the Kingston SSD Manager. Latest Firmware: EIFK31.7 (same firmware for KC3000 & Fury Renegade 4.0 PS5 Users: If you are using the KC3000\Fury Renegade 4.0 SSD in a PS5, you will need to temporarily remove the SSD, install it in a PC, and perform the firmware update using the appropriate software. QUOTE(soonwai @ Dec 18 2024, 03:07 AM) WD Black also quite good. I had a disappointing experience with the SN750. It failed suddenly and without warning in under six months. I went through the RMA process, received a replacement, and unfortunately, the replacement also failed in less than a year. After the second RMA, I decided to sell it, as I completely lost confidence in WD's NVMe SSDs.For context, I also use an SX8200 Pro and a 970 EVO on the same motherboard, and both have been running reliably to this day. Ironically, the SN750 was the newest among them. |

speaking of budget 1TB SATA SSD.
between Adata SU650, Kingston A400, Silicone Power A55, Kioxia Exceria. (got other option?) which one is best? Usage will be mainly for install big file size video games + sometimes download movie. Speed is not important because capped by sata, would prefer reliability & storage /price. This post has been edited by Boldnut: Dec 18 2024, 05:17 PM |

I will still say the Transcend SSD230S but if forced to, I'll take my chances with the SP A55 QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Dec 18 2024, 05:19 PM) From the UI it looks like ShopeeQUOTE(babylon52281 @ Dec 18 2024, 06:26 PM) Amongst the Kingston budget SSD which is nearly all dogshit, if you can find at good price, I reco KC600. right, for new gen nvme ssds, heat is a problem. it's now essential to have a setup with good air flow, more fans and thick heat sinks sandwiching the ssds, especially if you have multiple units.
if you wanna play with enterprise/dc-grade gen3/4 nvme ssds, the setup above is the minimal. the average temperature of my micron 7450 pro's (e1.s) are at 45c at idle, high 55c under loads. i try to keep them below 60c with fans and heat sinks, and use external custom water cooling unit. most ssd news for the past months were about enterprise, dc, and ai. hopefully manufacturers will populate more 4tb options hehe |

Heat problem with early Gen5 SSDs is simply coz from overheating controllers IC as these are basically overclocked Gen4 controllers.
Newer gen controllers designed from scratch for Gen5 speeds are starting to come into market which reduces the heatloads from needing a noisy fan down to just a chunky HS block all without thermal throttling. (NANDs are basically the same for both gen and thrives in heat) This post has been edited by babylon52281: Dec 24 2024, 04:40 PM |
