lowyat review at 2024 still pretty sub par huh...only cover exactly 1 synthetic benchmark and call it a review but I digress

I remember NV2 suffers tremendous perf drop the moment u fill the drive halfway...plus significant QC issue such as event 129. NV3 seems to improve upon that

unfortunately NV3 is still QLC...once SLC cache fills up it goes into QLC speed: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/kingston-nv3/6.html. my guess is that NV3, much like NV2, takes entire QLCs and make them into SLCs (2TB QLC -> ~500GB SLC cache), so I believe filling the drive more and more will make the speed drop more prevalent as well, just like but probably not as worse as NV2.
tomshardware also highlighted this in pg2 sustained write section

but I think this will be great value for storage usage that has lesser read/write operations than primary drive usage mcm steam game drive #2 lol

What do you want to know which isnt already known about DRAMless SSD? Okay for storage, better than NV2 as it nears Gen4 max speed, but meh as OS drive since its DRAMless & likely QLC.

Im more interested to know why the writer had such high SSD failure rates esp KC2500 & KC3000, since KC been constantly reco here.

Since I going to buy ssd for ps5 on upcoming 12/12

Should I install the ssd into my computer to update its firmware (if there is any), then only put back to ps5?

Another question is, if in future I decided not using ssd on my ps5 anymore, can I put it back to pc then format and use it?

Good to do it but not really needed, these updates dont really give big boost or anything. Security holes also dont affect PS5 cuz I havent heard of PS/Xbox kena hack before.

You can reuse in PC, but take care if it was used alot then lifespan will have reduce alot.

E1
E3

Doesn’t seem like we’ll see this in home setups anytime soon since it takes up way more space than M.2.

A lot of enterprise/server standards dont really gets filtered down to consumer segment, such as SCSI. Storage redundancy too (ie caps inside) doesnt appear for general usage even if its a good idea.
