how does 3.6v charger look like. i am seeing using handphone charger!!! did not take notice but if handphone charger is 3.6v, means the tip hv to cut off and split the wire to the 6" notebook fan?

our house dimmer(some used for fan speed control), will it work with 6"notebook fan hook up to the dimmer and dimmer using the normal outage?

sorry to ask silly question as tonight plan to go summit subang(low yatt too far) and get whatever to power up the fan tonight. tmw kids come back, difficult to do any diy.

U r using Onkyo 905 right? the Onkyo avr Taikor!  rclxms.gif  U meant ur hp charger got fried? PRC make? Nothing to do with ur Onkyo right? As for using the Onkyo USB, I will not use it as it might affect the pcb inside. I perfer to buy another hp charger & use the Onkyo ac outlet as it is safer. nod.gif

Dunno whether PCR made or not (although I'm fond of buying AP stuff blush.gif ) just used an old h/p charger I had laying around in the storeroom. Has been taikor-la now the title should go to 907 (got ar?) Luckily not much news bout the 7 series (stopped goin to Audioholic) or else need to scratch the upgrade itch

M thinkin of buying 1 of those mini table fan (made in PRC) but like I said been using onkyo for long hours so far no problem xcept for the small incident.

How can the setup tripped? U leave the fan wire exposed?
*
Not the set-up tripped, the whole house black-out!!! After some investigation only found out it was the DIY fan. Dunno why but all wires were properly terminated and used heatshrink to protect (learned fr speaker wires DIY biggrin.gif ) Probably like what Horny said 'PRC made charger'

Aiyoh! Hp charger with USB is to be use to powered up the note book cooling fan although it is originally intended to be use for charging hp. Onkyo 606 no powered outlet? Then use use normal power socket. Just switch on the fan when u use Onkyo 606.
I do hope u get what I meant.........my English very very poor pri 6 level only! sad.gif

if can, should just install aircon in room. placing a fan on top of your avr will generate a lot more dust inside.

Bro,

The fan is suppose to 'pull' hot air fr the AVR not blow into the AVR hence dusting is minimal

With fan on top air is pulled out from the top, but new air also comes in from the side right?

Whether push or pull, with a fan there is more air circulation and wouldn't that bring more dust in?

I just put notebook cooler big fan on top, switch on only after 3 or 4 hours running my Onkyo 905. Find a very low noise fan, no need fast fan. Normally my AVR running at whole night without fan.

I power the notebook cooler fan using my Onkyo 905 AVR USB port.
One simple solution if your Onkyo AVR don't have USB port, just buy USB hub with power adapter. Connect the USB power fan to USB hub.

Anybody know why so many equipment don't use the earth nowadays? Many of them have the IEC socket but only use 2 pins instead of 3 pins. Why don't they also use the 3rd earth pin?

The reasons so many electronics don't have earthing is because the are not needed anymore. Why? Because most electronics comes with plastic body which doesn't conduct electricity therefore cutting out the needs for earthing.

However if the body of the electronics is metal, it is best to have earthing.

here's wat i do super easy, buy a coolermaster12cm fan Rm,40, an ac/dc multiadapter RM9, cut the cord of the multiadapter, and cut the 3pin to 4pin adapter included from the fan, and connect it to the multiadapter cord, (according to polarity of course, its rather save, max output of the adapter is less than 12v) and viola, changable 3pin cord for any 3pin pc fan,
btw i set to max output on the multiadapter, since is cheapo brand, its output is less than 12v ,run the fan just nice, i even modded a switch to turn on and off, cool2.gif wink.gif
