Onkyo avr always run very hot. So far I have not manage to run my Onkyo that hot to switch on it internal fan. I solve this 'hot' issue by just DIY two cpu fan on it ( a few eg. in this thread a few somewhere in the middle, or u can read up my Onkyo post in my site tongue.gif ). Have a very nice day & enjoy ur Onkyo! biggrin.gif

Blowing away as in 'sucking' out the hot air. tongue.gif BTW I have already 'up-grade' my Onkyo fan to two 6" notebook cooling fan (Rm25 each) with 'bling bling' blu light! tongue.gif

For Onkyo 875 there are two fan (3") located inside the casing front left & right part. So far without fan on, the temp is 61C but with both DIY fan on the temp is just 48C. So it run very cool. I use 3.6V power supply to run two 6" notebook cooling fan so it run very quite. Now if I use 12V power supply the fan will be at max speed & very noisy. Temp not much diff. Ho[pe this infor help for Onkyo owner. smile.gif

Cool...thanks for the info. I will get 120mm fan this weekend. Usually still quiet when run at 12v or can mark down to 5v if too noisy. My marantz running quite hot but not elite enuf to have built-in fan like onky tongue.gif

I use a 'mp3 charger/hp charger'(Rm12) with usb output as note book cooling fan are powered by usb (3.6v). Connect this charger to ur marantz power outlet (switched) at the back of the avr, so when u on ur avr the DIY fan will atu on also. biggrin.gif The connection is the same as show in my site.

Forgot to mention..........have at look at the switched power outlet first before u go & buy the hp charger. Is it the flat slot type or the round hole type? Then buy the corrected hp charger.

Its the square pointy type (hexagon). I just look at my old Motorola bluetooth charger and it has the exact connector, very light and its output is 5v! Perfect rclxms.gif I'm not using it anyway tongue.gif

Ahem...am no tech savy here but i know of the fan which run on 12V noisy. Please confirm am reading it correct. I go buy 2 inch notebook fan, maybe modified into casing but am totally clueless on 3.6V power, means do you get the adapter(the one can change voltage at the charger) and hook up both fan wire?

Movies was fantastic or basically playing DVD but CD music...ahem maybe if got space to get 2 bookshelf speaker(for music one) to add in.

Desa was offering rm5300 i think(dun hv invoice with me) coz i also bought dvd player with karaoke for my kids

Don't buy the 2" notebook fan lah. Buy two 6" notebook cooling fan, ngam ngam to cover the Onkyo top backside ( very hot area due to pic processing pcb ). I have to use 3.6v charger as it reduce the two cooling fan rpm, hence very quite, if I use 12V the two fan will be at max rpm so very noisy. The two fan is to 'suck' out the hot air trapped inside the Onkyo avr. Now if u don't want to use fan u can just take out the Onkyo casing. It will be 'cool' also but don't look nice. tongue.gif

Horny, I copied ur DIY using a h/p charger and after 3 months it nearly fried my AVR!

The set-up tripped while I was watching a movie & after much tinkering around much to my relief only the charger & surge protector were got fried. (mind u everything is connected to my AVR) Now lookin fr a safer alternative... don't wan another heartattack. There is a usb port in the av and its written in the manual that its 12v, wonder whether it will be usable to power a usb fan

Bout the fan in d onkyo.... heard bout it but never seen it in action. Sometime watch 5 hours of Astro upscaled via AVR oso fan never activate. Is it only available in certain models?

U r using Onkyo 905 right? the Onkyo avr Taikor! rclxms.gif U meant ur hp charger got fried? PRC make? Nothing to do with ur Onkyo right? As for using the Onkyo USB, I will not use it as it might affect the pcb inside. I perfer to buy another hp charger & use the Onkyo ac outlet as it is safer. nod.gif

how does 3.6v charger look like. i am seeing using handphone charger!!! did not take notice but if handphone charger is 3.6v, means the tip hv to cut off and split the wire to the 6" notebook fan?

our house dimmer(some used for fan speed control), will it work with 6"notebook fan hook up to the dimmer and dimmer using the normal outage?

sorry to ask silly question as tonight plan to go summit subang(low yatt too far) and get whatever to power up the fan tonight. tmw kids come back, difficult to do any diy.
