A member have bought BRP fr US for < RM1k (USD222.00) M really contemplating since now got pasar malam blu-ray disc oso.

No need to buy branded HDMI one after all its digital so not much difference. Carrefour got RM69 hdmi cable

The 905 i found in Mudah.com, it was an unopen factory stock given to their supplier. The guy advertised fr RM4k no response, later turun harge 2 RM3.5k I grab-la. But no warranty card one. Saved RM3k but next week went & bought CHT-12R now pokai

bro just to confirm with u when u said 'pasar malam blu ray' u meant blu ray burned into D9 dvd or is it actual blu ray just pasar malam price?

Most probably 1m dunno know coz didn't buy, end up buying girrafe (used by sony?) coz wanted version 1.3

On 'pasar malam' blue ray oso don't know coz don't have player so didn't buy

Girrafe should be good,another unknown brand "MP-Acoustic" cost <RM50 i found it's good buy too,the packing quite ugly,the cable itself nothing special too,only black colour without sheild but i found the quality not bad,should can find at Jln Pasar.

Pasar malam 'blueray' is DVD9 lah with xtra nice packaging only.. i bought and tested already. Can be played on normal dvd player.

no such thing as pirated blue ray at the moment...

This is news. A blank BD-R 25G is at least RM25 (and this only Memorex, 2X write speed and in bulk). So even if they use this or assuming it is cheaper at RM20 selling it at RM25 seems like very low profit margin for pirates. Unless there are cheaper BD-Rs now that I am unaware of.

The "real" pirated BD can be 1080p if they leave the video untouched from the original disc. It is actually around RM65, that is why I say it's so not worth it, you can get used BD for RM60-70, and brand new for RM80-90 only.

The RM25 ones I'm pretty sure is not BD, another DVD9. Or a DVD9 with an AVCHD format structure, this disc can't be played on normal DVD player, but on BD player with an AVCHD logo on it (PS3 also can play it). It can be read in a computer DVD-ROM too. AVCHD is actually a .TS format using H264 codec up to 1080p. It's mostly used on consumer HD cameras.

Wow, so many formats to choose from.....aiman04, what is the AQ & SQ of this so called AVCHD format DVD9? Is it better compared to BD ripped D9 that we used to pay for RM10-RM15 per disc?

It certainly injects more life & spice to all our expensive HT combos as we are able to experience more & more quality movies at the affordable price.

The source to this AVCHD DVDs are obviously the MKV files. I can even create this disc myself using many programs, like TSMuxer or Gotsent. The process is not a conversion, but a remux so the video is untouched, PQ will be the same as the MKV. The audio, I don't remember, I think it only supports stereo, it will be converted. I have to check that.

I've never seen this AVCHD DVDs myself, someone posted in the BD thread, he put it in his computer, explored and see the properties. They match the file structure of the AVCHD format. So of course it can't be played on a DVD player, but can be played in the PS3.

BD players are already become cheaper by the day. If you use actual US prices, they are getting close to the sweet spot of DVD players. During Black Friday sales BD players could be had as low as USD150. Almost there, the only problem is we have not experienced it in Malaysia. For the BD itself, they are already very close to original DVD prices. In US, a new BD release is anywhere between USD20-25, same as a new DVD release it. If you are waiting for BD piracy, that is where the problem might come from....that will take time. Generally, only when Asia picks up the trend, will we see them.
