pair my 705 with my old denon (front/center/rear) + mordaunt short carnival 9. this 705 is better than my old receiver pioneer vsx509. of course laa ...    use audyssey to setup my speaker. so far the sound so good(powerful & clear). don;t have a time to explore others setting. for now i'm satisfy with my 705.

Penang always more expensive. The cheapest I got so far is RM2800 from Watts.

But the shortcomings can be compensated with a good subwoofer. Some sat speakers can sound great like those Bose ones.
Well, from my observation the 605 is a bit bright so you need to partner it with warmer sounding speakers whereas the 2307 has more oomphh in the overall sound whether for movies or music but the best bang for the buck is still 605 no matter what.

605 vs 663 vs 2308 tis 2 shud be in the same range

I know this is not the trading area, but thought it would be more relevant seing that this thread is specfically regarding Onkyo 605 receivers and its siblings.

I am coming back from US in 10 days and will be bringing back any 2 of these receivers below. They are of course brand new and the prices are as follows :

Just brought back the 606 from down south. Now have to get the speakers to pair with it.

S$728 incl GST. Bought a pair of Mission M33i and MH Center & Surround. For sub, I bought a Whaferdale SW150. Speaker cable is Chord Silver.

You are correct it does not have HDMI input. It does have multi channel input but don't know it would accept multi channel pcm. Thinking of getting the tx-sr705 in the near future. What the best price in market right now?

No need to buy branded HDMI one after all its digital so not much difference. Carrefour got RM69 hdmi cable
