I had no choice to pick 65 for another car because of stupid bump all over the road. |

When I look at the pattern first time I also got skeptical, very odd pattern. Toyo is never that good to begin with aside from the extreme category R1R. |

Just got this 185/60 14. So far seems quiet compared to old xm2. Like others have said sidewall feels soft. Will update after driving more. After driving a bit can say more comfortably than xm2. Tyre OD might be slightly smaller cause comparing GPS speed now overread about 5kmh at 110kmh compare to the Michelin before. Are you guys compare new tire with old tire WHEN IT WAS NEW? If not, don't compare new tire with old tire in terms of quietness... old tyre rubber harden, surely it will lose out greatly to new softer rubbers .. just like old man bud vs baby bud.. cheers all

Having using this CR 1 since Nov 2020 and as todate already clocking about 17k km...sofar so good, still a quiet tires with reasonable performance during dry & wet condition...i can say its value for money. As this tires is about half the price of PS4 with the same size (235 55 19)...i dont feel CR1 performance is half from PS4... feel like at least 70-80% % of it...therefore my conclusion at the moment is CR1 is value for money

I'm interested to know how this tyre compares with Continental MC5. When taking corners at speed you can kinda feel that there is some tyre play/squishing and losing grip (dunno how to explain since its all in to driving feeling). As long as you dont drive like a dumbass then no need to worry. One of the softest tyres i used before was the primacy LC, really soft and scary in the corners |

My beemer is also using DZ102, no issues with aquaplane on highway speeds of average 110~140km/h during normal rain condition. Overall quite happy with the dry performance and way better in the wet than my previous Dunlop DZ102 which aquaplane like crazy whenever over 100km/h. Hope it lasts at least 30k? ![]() DZ102 gone at 22K (lowered but only -2 camber) Please check your suspension settings i believe something wrong. Workshop: Len Sheng Tyre & Auto Sdn Bhd Location: Wangsa Maju Price per piece: RM150 × 4 Tyre pressure: 220kpa Tyre Rating: 82H Other info: Only free balancing. No free alignment given, dunno why. Driving Experience after 89km + evening heavy rain: -Immediate impression was this a very very very quiet tyre in comparison to my previous BS Ecopia. Road noise barely audible at lower speed. -Dry braking: No difference compare to BS Ecopia (new or old) -Wet braking: Tbh, BS Ecopia is still slightly better in this category judging by my pedal braking force applied. Will revert soon after clocking more kilometres along the way. Verdict so far: Cheap & Good.👍 Unrelated point: Myself being a huge CR7 fan, the tyre imprint CR1 holds significant importance to me 😛 |

Has anyone else made the jump from Michelin XM2's to the CR1?
A previous post mentioned that they're more quiet & comfortable than the XM2. Would love to hear additional feedback. Price wise the CR1s are also a fair bit more affordable than the XM2.. For my ride (175/65 R15) they are around RM160+ vs RM220++ for the XM2. Seems the threadwear is lower though @ 340 (CR1) vs 420 (XM2+) |

QUOTE(KenDiriwan @ Feb 21 2022, 05:08 PM) cc6 is not an all rounder. In fact it is very comfort oriented and not good on wet breaking and aquaplaning.Xm2+, triplemax 2 and es32 are much better all rounders |

Myvi 2018 1.3G 4At Owner here!! Original tire size are 185/65 R14, Bridgestone Ecopia EP150, drive a week I feel not confidence when speeding over 120km/h, starting feel steering very light and rear of vehicle "flying" I'm a salesman, for my requirement was more stable when driving on highway, this size 185/65 R14 was very good for fuel saving driving at city. So I changed to 195/55 R15 & New RIM, tires are Ecopia EP300. Used 50k mileage in 3 years, those Ecopia EP300 performance are great whenever dry & wet condition (before tire thread lower 30%) Due of safety condition, I changed 4 tires to TOYO CR1 195/55 R15 Pricing are RM185/pcs, change 4pcs in one time, the tire shop given RM180/4pcs + trade in old tires RM5/4pcs, so the price were RM175/4pcs So far run 13k km mileage in 1year 3 months, so far so good Base on TOYO introduce CR1, was the NANOENERGY 3 "facelift", they heard complain from NE03 and directly improve on "NEW FACELIFT" CR1 PROXES CR1 Designed for a Premium, Comfortable, and Relaxing Journey Proxes CR1 is engineered towards providing a safe, comfortable and quiet ride. Deploying Toyo's own proven technology in tyre making, Proxes CR1 uses T-Mode and Nano Balance Technology that simulate real world conditions in its development process. As a result a tyre that is able to achieve its overall performance in silence is born - the Proxes CR1. For those planning change tire to CR1, I recommend it Affordable price, good handling, quiet & smooth For this pricing , don't take to the performance use, kindly went to TR1 or more higher tire. Rating: Toyo Proxes CR1 8/10 Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 8.2/10 alexei liked this post

From MC6 to CR1, and quite confidence going through genting up and down in heavy downpour in family mpv.
And even with 370nm, barely getting any wheelspin even on wet road after rain. More comfortable but quite woobly compare to MC6, but at rm160 cheaper per piece compared to MC6, im satisfied. QUOTE(Boy96 @ Jun 7 2022, 10:20 PM) Using it, tapi memang nampak flat even with 300 kpa... |

I installed CR1 205 60 R16 on my Ford Focus last month. Basically I just want a comfort and quiet tyre, and cheap. And this Toyo CR1 does not disappoint. If you want comfortable and quiet, this CR1 is the one to get. It's surely a softer rubber as you can feel it when you are driving as if the vehicle is on a cushion. Low noise as well. It is fine during cornering and braking too unless you drive like an F1 driver then that's a different story. For everyday usage it's good and most importantly, it's the cheapest compared to other common good alternatives. There's a squeaking sound from the tyre when the steering wheel is turned left and right on concrete car park ramp at low speed. Apart from that, there isn't any peculiar or abnormal behavior of the tyre that I notice of.
This is the price I got from the tyre dealer, cheapest quote when compared to the other 3 tyre shops I asked around. 205-60-16 Michelin Primacy4 2023 RM395 Michelin XM2+ 2022 RM385 left 2 Continental UC7 2023 RM365 Toyo CR1 2023 RM295 This post has been edited by SportyHandling: Aug 10 2023, 12:36 PM |

QUOTE(ktek @ Aug 14 2023, 04:19 PM) Opposite from what you believe, it is the opposite = it has hard rubber. All high treadwear, eco low rolling resistance, high mileage use rather stiff rubber. The comfy cushion is coming from thin sidewall + soft sidewall reinforcement. Squeak on concrete carpark at low speed is due to same reason, the side wall is soft such that it deform more and the side wall is rubbing the concrete. So ktek is right that if you increase tire pressure, it will alleviate this slightly. For soft rubber, check those treadwear 280, 240, 200 tyres. Quazacolt liked this post

Yup especially when the road a bit uneven and bends it gets worse. Braking also not good need to break early but tyre is quiet and should have long treadwear |

QUOTE(Thrust @ Sep 14 2024, 09:00 AM) I think I get what you mean.. It is a slight humming sound and it gets louder when speed increases but not as loud as a faulty wheel bearing. Old post but thought I'd post here since I've experienced the same humming sound on new Continental UC6 tyres fitted on the Nissan Almera. I've used Toyo CR1 before (new tyres) on Ford Focus and there's no humming issue at all. I experienced this on my front passenger side. I am not sure if the humming sound from the tyres is due to the tyre itself ie. swollen, hard rubber of the tyre, or something else that is contributing to the humming sound not related to tyres. When I experienced the humming sound from the new tyres (Continental UC6) on the new car, I brought it to the service centre to complain. The wheel bearing was checked and reported to be not the cause of the humming sound. Then, the vehicle was sent to the Continental tyre shop, arranged by the service centre representative. Several checks and test drives were carried out by the tyre shop which including checking the thickness of the rubber and balancing, swapping all 4 tyres around rear to front and front to rear etc. In the end it's a futile exercise as the humming sound is still there. In summary there is no solution so have to live with the humming sound before the tyres are all worn out and replaced to new tyres. Hopefully the humming sound will be gone after replacing the tyres to new tyres. The humming sound only comes up at around 30km/h to 80 km/h, and only on bad or rough surface roads. On good condition road surface it's silent or very soft humming sound. The humming sound gets loud only when the vehicle travels on certain road surface where the bituminous surface is rougher or worn out. |

I've used Toyo CR1 before (new tyres) on Ford Focus and there's no humming issue at all. when the car is jacked up, spin the tyres and check carefully to see if the tread oscillates. thats what my mechanic did to check if my tyre is swollen. the swelling is not visible from far. but when you spin the tyre and look carefully at the tread, you can see the surface of the tread moves up and down. its very slight but can cause humming.I am not sure if the humming sound from the tyres is due to the tyre itself ie. swollen, hard rubber of the tyre, or something else that is contributing to the humming sound not related to tyres. It is still a budget tire, but if your driving thru corners in high speed it is not good. Felt few times the car like to sway in corners, normal road driving is ok. |

Yearly round trip maybe 1000km only. |

I’m using the CR1 195/60R16 overall it’s quite good overall and never had any issue with the grip. Just on highway it may feel a little floaty when traveling at faster speeds. Would the Michellin primacy 4 fare any better?

Regretted fitting Toyo Proxes into my cars. Within 3 years needed to change even when mileage was low. These tires are really for budget. Changed to continental UC7 and CC. Drives so much better. And yes, obviously you pay for the quality. Just that i dont think it is worth using cheap tires since the quality of the drive is improved by quite a lot with only maybe 30% more in price

I am using it on my smaller Kelisa ride already near 20k still see the treads like got 50~60% left, estimate should be able to last around 40~50k easily before hitting the safety line. |

Aku pakai TR1 ok jugak. Harganya hampir sama dengan CR1. Dry and wet grip quite good. Tried hard braking on rainy days on empty street at 30km/h, it stops dead and doesn't slide. Lasted also around 60,000+km and am going to change tyres early next year

There are many BMW or Mec OE are with special mark but many drivers change after market without the OE mark and performance just similar. Btw CR1 an entry level tyre and we can't ask for more compare to touring or sport tyre. If we take comparison between the entry level product I will not recommend CR1. |

This Toyo CR1 is entry level tyre and don't expect it has obvious impact like the one fitted in BMW or Merc. Sharing info from my axia 2024, toyo cr1 175,65 r14
26k+ kms, grip is still decent Thread about 30%+, but the tyre noise is pretty obvious and it's starting to bug me. Even when it's new also it's quite noisy, so I'm not sure if it's the tyre that's making most of the noise, or is it the the lack of insulation. I've got no good comparison as my previous car was running rovelo tyres. This post has been edited by waka14: Jun 2 2025, 11:12 PM |

Even when it's new also it's quite noisy, so I'm not sure if it's the tyre that's making most of the noise, or is it the the lack of insulation. I've got no good comparison as my previous car was running rovelo tyres. |

QUOTE(zeng @ Jun 9 2025, 01:26 PM) Holyshit you have a messy and big wheel alignment problem on hand to handle bro, if ever it could be overcome. Sorry,i don't quite understand how bad is it. First glance looks very minor. No, it's not tyre brand/model/manufacturing/design problem. You'll need to elaborate further, car is only 1 year old+. Axia 2024 Alignment adjustment according the the reading on the right. This post has been edited by waka14: Jun 9 2025, 01:28 PM |

The rear wheel alignment is not only bad, it is real real bad. You'll need to elaborate further, car is only 1 year old+. Axia 2024 Alignment adjustment according the the reading on the right. Read your rear Total Toes value (3.8/2.2 mm). In order not to cluster this thread on CR1 tyres, I'll suggest you pose the question/problem of your tyre noise, accelerated tyre wear rate etc on a thread (Alignment Discussion - How to interpret wheel alignment numbers?) started by me as follows: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5080912 Meanwhile Google and read up on topics like types of tyre wear pattern, cambers, toe in, toe out, rear torsion beam design etc. This post has been edited by zeng: Jun 10 2025, 05:54 PM |

QUOTE(ktek @ Jun 14 2025, 10:16 AM) No.It's not the old spec or the new spec, ,(if any) OR tight wheel alignment specification range or the wide/loose specification range in itself that leads to the accelerated tyre wear rate that results in accelerated increase in tyre noise level. It's the absolute values of rear tire toes (despite a certain margin of errors of measurement) that causes accelerated tyre wear > accelerated tyre noise increase in this case. QUOTE(sCid00 @ Sep 17 2025, 10:04 PM) Between these 4..which is the better option? What tire size? Many new SUV tire in market nowadays, if can accept Ventus P4/Ecopia HL001 pricing better consider Yokohama or Falken tires. Goodyear Assurance Maxguard SUV Toyo Proxes CR1 SUV Hankook Ventus Prime4 Bridgestone Ecopia HL001 Yokohama latest tires got a lot of good feedback interm of silent & comfort use at a value price point (compare to Michelin) Pirelli Russo/P1 SUV Yokohama Advan V61 Falken ZIEX CT60 |

QUOTE(BL98 @ Sep 22 2025, 11:49 AM) Thread peel off and rot is totally different ya, a lot of premium tires due to softer rubber compound will encouter similar issues. Bridgestone, Yokohama, Pirelli, Continental also i seen some tire model also can treads peel off. FYI the outer rubber is way more durable than you think, if you dont want to see the peel off buy those budget tires but dont expect similar benefits. |

You know what is serious, only when you see metal shreds. If you never been in motorsports, a lot of them drive until can see metal shreds still running around race track before it burst (Usually this level you will see a lot of smoke, sparks and burning rubber smell). To reach that level you need to drive very extream which most normal users wont even can meet.meanwhile budget tyre looks nice even after so many years This post has been edited by littlefire: Sep 22 2025, 01:51 PM |
