CR1>Ecopia in many ways

CR1 is grippier, less noisy, and less rolling resistance. Used the tyre for a year now after changing from Ecopia.

Feels like CR1 is the best among all equivalent range of tyres

I had CR1 on my Alza as original equipment and after change to Hankook Eco2 I feel much better in both dry and wet grip. Only thing CR1 done better is the CR1 slightly quieter.

From my observation, CR1 fitted as OEM on new cars (alza, corolla cross) have different thread design than the ones selling outside. Not sure if that makes any difference in performance.

Most likely not much different. There are many BMW or Mec OE are with special mark but many drivers change after market without the OE mark and performance just similar. Btw CR1 an entry level tyre and we can't ask for more compare to touring or sport tyre. If we take comparison between the entry level product I will not recommend CR1.

If you never into detail data collection, you will just assume. Different OE tires does got different requirements even for the same tires.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/Should-...it-OE-Tyres.htm

Example like this PS4S tires, BMW * OE tires are tune for dry performance, while the same but aftermarket tires are tune for wet performance.
Same tires but different outcome.

If it were "performance" car of course it has different for OE and aftermarket. But for normal passenger car the OE and after market almost similar. This Toyo CR1 is entry level tyre and don't expect it has obvious impact like the one fitted in BMW or Merc. Btw I own a new Alza the tyre is very bad performing in wet and I don't believe the after market OE will have significant improvement because it is still same pattern CR1.
