QUOTE(onetwoswitch @ Apr 21 2020, 07:25 PM)
Since the topic of clown was brought up, I have my own fair bit of experience. This would not necessarily be scary for everyone, but for me, I consider it nightmare.

Since I was a kid, every year I have this dream of walking around the housing area where my parents are staying. The group of people I am walking with are my neighbours, but not necessarily the same bunch of neighbours in each dream. In such dreams, sometimes i am walking and some other times i was cycling. There are no horror or anything out of the ordinary happens in that dream, it is all fun and laughter among us group of friends. But once I reach this particular spot in the housing area, where a kindergarten which was built on our playground, i will start losing control of myself. The result of this, I will start floating and nothing I do no matter how hard i struggle will bring me down back to ground. I will keep floating and screaming for my friends to do something till they fade away and i cant see them. Suddenly I will wake up and realize I had been dreaming and also my clothes are wet due to the sweat.

This had been happening for so long, as far back i can remember since i was 5. Recently, there was a movie released in 2017, IT the clown. I went and watched it with my wife, and towards the end i realised "if you come with me, you will float too" and all the kids who were missing was floating in the drain where pennywise kept them. Thats when it hit me, I actually saw the original IT released in 1990 when I was a kid. Was traumatized back then that i was always scared to go to the bathroom due to the small window, which to me represents the drain from which IT the clown will abduct the kid who was playing with the paper boat.

That's when i knew the impact that original movie had on me for years till I have that dream even when I am such a grown up now. After knowing the source of it, the dreams stopped. This experience made me understand that not all horror experience people face are due to real supernatural beings disturbing them, some could be due to things registered in their subconscious mind without them realizing it at all. Glad I broke free from mine.

wow.. I also watched It original.. quite scary but not until it haunt my dream

the only thing/ entity that haunt me even im aready 16 yrars old was freddie kruger... yes... the man with razor sharp claw and wearing red black sweaters...

i always watched nightmare on elm street rhe series way back in late 80s...so it came to my dreams.. sometime chase me on dark alley.. sometime became a bus driver and crashed the bus with me as a passenger

We gave it some Dango that we dabao for snack time (my family has the habit of having tea and snack at 10.00am, 3.00pm and 9.30pm). It's the Guardian Spirit of that particular place, I guess if you came to the place with malicious intent, you will kena. I guess it was also curious because it was waiting at one of the ledges. Probably it knew me and my sis was coming and that we could see it. if it was malicious, I would have felt the thing halfway up the hill, and would never have go further up. My Sis will probably start throwing up.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to know more of calodin's encounter. (thanks for replying, btw)
I'd actually want a 3rd eye just to see these non-malicious huge mammal like creatures,
instead of beings that want to wish you eternal mental anguish and suffering, or just by being nightmarish looking as possible.

Example, why would something like a woman with just her head and internal organs floating around exist... it's like a sick joke.

Actually, a lot of normal people will say this, but they just look at the exciting stuff, but they forget, you don't get to cherry-pick what you can see. We grew up with it, so it's just as normal to us as being able to grab a cup with an opposing thumb. I remember my sifu once opened the 3rd eye for a guy that kept on pestering him for close to 5 years. the guy lasted only 2 hours before he asks my sifu to close back the 3rd eye.

Not just the animals, really ancient trees, especially those that has grown on very negative lands, because these trees can become "ζ ‘ε¦–" or "Tree Demon" (just a note, we use demon here due to the fact that there is no real way to differentiate "ε¦–" and "ι”" in the English language, a real "Demon" will make the "Tree Demon" look like a total noob)

Tree Demon gain power by ingesting spirits, be it human, animal, orang bunian, you name it. So normally all other spirits in the jungle will stay far far away from a Tree Demon. If you go into a jungle, suddenly go to a place where even the insects and birds don't make a noise and you see a very big old tree...my advice..GTFO of there pronto.

Since young, I am extremely fascinated with mythical beings be it malicious or the glorious mythical creatures. There are times where I wish i could sight huge mythical beings, like a dragon in the sky or a giant bird like a roc when I stare up at the sky.

~

Thank you for your sharing your experience in Fushimi Inari. How big is the guardian fox? Like a Hilux? Is it in colour?

Is there any similar sightings of mythical beings such as the kitsune? And are they usually big? Locally we often hear about toyol, pontianak, na tok gong saja..

**

This reminded me of a story my dad once told me. When he was young, he would follow my grandpa deep into the jungle (Pahang). My grandpa is familiar with the jungle and enjoys fishing alone. So sometimes, he prefers to curi-curi leave earlier so that my dad doesnt follow him.

One day my dad turn up walking alone in the jungle. After 30-45mins, he reached the denser part of the jungle where the only light shines through the tall trees and leaves directly above him. He could still see the sky though, but everything else around him is dark.

Out of a sudden, he heard a loud swoosh and gust of wind from above and the sky immediately turned dark for something like 10 seconds. There are no chirping or wheezing noises (so it is not likely swallows, bees, bats). Furthermore, he is always in the jungle when he was young and he can definitely distinguish if it is a bird or insect. Just the gush of wind. During this moment, it is pitch black above. With no sunlight, he recalled that it is how one would feel sitting in a pitch black windowless room. When the sky turned bright again, the wind stopped as well.

He would like to think it could be an enormous giant bird flew pass.

**

There was this other time in the jungle where he saw 2 snakes 'standing' and facing each other. They stood at around 6ft high just gazing each other motionless. Dad was there for a full 5 minutes it seems, then he use another route, knowing better not to kacau them. This one I tak tau la, maybe mating season or alpha territorial dispute.

I had encountered this silent jungle incident a few times. It's very weird how completely silent it can be. We thought that a predator eg tiger or other big cat is probably nearby. Instead of leaving quickly, we stayed still or move very slowly but alert. Didn't know then got such thing as tree demon. Didn't pay much attention whether got really old tree there...

QUOTE(calodin @ Apr 21 2020, 05:59 PM)
Really old spirits can take 1 of 2 path, become an enlightened being (hence becoming a guardian of a place) or become an evil being. And it takes them a long time to reach the state. if anyone has been to the Inari Shrine in Kyoto, if you walk up the path of the Tori gates, further until you reach behind the hill, where there is a grave yard, for people that has the 3rd eye, can go see there. the Giant Fox guardian of that place. The Chinese call these Guardian "ε±±η₯ž" or "Mountain Gods". I'm been a chubby guy all my life, so I went there with my sister, my sister is on the track and field team, so you know, she likes mountani-trekking, me being on the fat-chubby side, hated any activity that has "walking up an incline" in it. My sis just happily jogging up the path while I already kaki sakit, waist sakit, and not enough breath. Then she ran down again ask me to faster come, (my sis can smell spirits when they are around but can't see them) she said got a very sweet calming smell coming from a graveyard, so I just go and take a look, lo and behold, a giant fox guardian.
*
Goodness I didnt know that . As tourists, everyone will take pictures irregardless, especially at tourist attractions like Inari Shrine. But since you said that its a guardian means its some sort of deity right? Did it look like a fox? I didnt smell any thing maybe because the fox guardian wasnt around, or only certain people with special abilities could smell? Tbh, there are a lot of graveyards at these shrines, I think it would be best to no encroach into these areas though there is no restrictions right ?

Being a regular climber/trekker at that area, Im sure you know that trail very well. Being a regular hiker myself, Im sure you know the "unwritten rules" of jungles and forests. But still experienced hikers could get lost on the same trails we go through almost every weekend like you did.

One thing I have learned over these years is that to have upmost respect to the Jungle and its "inhabitants". Many who have the "third eye" ability can tell you the forest are filled with these "inhabitants" and it is best to avoid going in near dusk and at night. I have personally participated in search missions in some forest near me for lost trekkers at night and I can tell you its a totally different ball game when the forest is as dark until "you can't even see your own hands without the torch". My advice to all trekkers, hikera, hashers, runners, do not go in the forest/jungle during dusk and night, no matter how familiar you are with the trails. You dont want want visitors into your home at night, so does the jungle.
*
Young, fit and foolish. And I didn't believe in anything supernatural back then. Lol.

I have spent many nights camping/trekking in jungle. Was somewhat addicted to it. A jungle illuminated by bright moonlight is like a magical sight. Even the leaves sparkle. On a moonless night, I gaze at starry skies..there are so so many stars. Mesmerizing.

There's one time we saw a big ball of yellowish/reddish fireball. It split into two and merge back. But when we approach nearer, it turns out to be a very big group of giant millipedes having an orgy. Tens or maybe hundreds of them.

I want to ask a question. I'm a person who hardly dream. But there are occasions where I dream of me watching at myself sleeping. Like standing guard? Any special meaning? It didn't happened when I was sick...but when I was at unfamiliar place. Few times during camping, few times in hotels.

If a big Cat is around, you will still hear the background noise of the forest. I learned my Jungle tracking skills from this orang Asli guide that we hired when I had to carry out fieldwork for my final year project in Uni. A lot of that traditional knowledge that is passed down generation to generation in the orang asli tribe has a lot of merit.

Normies can't smell spirits, my sister was born with the ability. I think normally people will not venture that far up the path of the Inari Shrine, as the place where we met the Fox Guardian there was only the 2 of us.

Muggles like us miss out all the good (and bad) of the spirit world.

Which is good because I have a feeling A LOT of us would abuse or find despicable ways to utilize the benefits that world can offer if a big proportion of us have our eyes opened to it. Human greed and fear can have to bounds anyway.....

Every morning there is a BCP (Business Continuity Plan) meeting among the Senior Leadership of the Co...Malaysia started the MCO on the 18th March and Singapore started the CB on 7th April..first week was getting the Miti approval for all our plants to run then after that was helping all our supplier to get approval for meeting...even busier than normal work day...but now mostly all settle, the morning meeting that use to take 1 hrs to report update now only take 15 mins. That is why now got more time to write here.

Today I want to write about why certain "beings" exist in certain race's folklore but not other races. I would appreciate any feedback here. The "being" I want to talk about is the "Banana Spirit". I've seen 2-3 Banana spirits before, and it's also one of the spirits that we kinda handle by "extreme measures". So I would just like to put a disclaimer first...ladies and gentlemen, please do not try this at home. Banana Spirits are generated when the female flowers of a Banana tree accidentally come into contact with male human blood. This can happen during harvesting of banana and such lar. But one of the things I don't understand, one of the other races that uses the Banana tree plant a lot are Indians. I've never heard of any Indian friends talking about Banana spirits. By logic and statistic, they should have higher possibility just due to the fact that the frequency of interacting with a Banana tree is higher.
