bro, having it at 4Ghz is not an issue, but maintaining the heat is another.. and also the side effects of extreme overclocking over a period of time.. hmm

I just bought Q6600.. Has managed to push it to 3.0 but, my concern is, why does my multiplier fluctuate from 6 to 9, based on CPU-z? Can I do something to fix the multiplier ?
My spec: Mobo: Asus P5K RAM: 2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2800 Currently @ default vcore |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jan 19 2008, 11:22 AM) Hmm, i have disabled all the CPU features there, but when I save and reboot, it changes back to default.. Any idea why this is happening ? EDITED: On top of that, I have flashed my bios to the latest version.. Still, the same problem is occurring.. This post has been edited by vivre: Jan 19 2008, 11:47 AM |

I just OCed my Q6600 to 3.6Ghz 400MhzX9... The Vcore i put is 1.385V. But in Everest and CPUID shows around 1.33V.. This is pretty good i think. My proc doesn't need 1.385V. I tried putting 1.375V and ran a Stability test using everest.. It BSODed after around 5 mins.. so i changed the Vcore to 1.385V and ran it.. It ran fine for 10 mins and i stopped it. I ran SuperPI 32M and it ran for 15 mins and nothing happened.. Everything is all good.. My temps also went up on load to around 65C.

@bernard
try OCCT for 1 hour or run Orthos. Then if u do pass those two, then its considered stable. |

QUOTE(cscheat @ Jan 17 2008, 04:39 PM) common guys !!! PUMP ALL YOUR Q6600 to 4Ghz !!!!!!!!!!! 4Ghz its around 60C kenot withstand daily use.the facts A QX9650 cost 3 to 4 times than a Q6600 !!! but when the Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz is faster than a Q9650 @ stock !!! So 4Ghz is more than enough to withstand till Year 2009 !!!! so i will stick with the Q6600 till the next generation processor !!! |

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Jan 20 2008, 11:12 AM) i see. yeah, u prolly right and prolly the 60c is logical for load since the vcore is only 1.38v to achieve 4G...a gem proc i guessbut most of the time overclocker only bothers the load temp. if idle at 60C then fulload will pass 80C easily. mine idle at 39C fulload 69C, vcore 1.51v, ambiet temp 30C. |

congratualation bernardryan, u got a good processor there.... hard to get this kind of processor. Try run orthos or OCCT for an hours then u know how good it is.
intel recommended temperature is around 71oC rite, so as long as you run it below the max threshold then it should be ok. |
