ah, i never said i tried up to 1.55, thats someone else, the max i went was 1.48V, it was stable for prime95 at that voltage. anything below is not.

and yes i did change the nb/sb volt.

my current idle temp is <50C @ 1.45V, but unstable for prime, its stable for normal use, no such crashes or BSOD, gaming, superpi, everest all ran smoothly, no prob.
*
currently at what nb/sb volt are u using if i may ask. coz thinking of doing the same as well....

Guys !

i did the following
1. Heat Pipe Mod - remove the head pipe and check for bend, replace the TIM and put in ceramique! then use small bolts and nuts to tighten it !
2. Lapping of TRUE 120 - from 200 > 400 > 800 > 1000 > 1500 grit sandpaper !
3. Using cleaning agents - Clean both heatsink and cpu surface using ACETONE ! (wow ! so dirty!)
4. Applying of Arctic MX-2 - Applied correctly this time !:p:
5. Adding another 120mm CPU fan - doing this to make a PUSH-PULL config for the TRUE 120 !
6. Adding a 40mm fan - Just to cool the PWM
7. Adding a 140mm fan - Supply the case with good air flow !! (my ram are cooler too !)

after all these, my PWM temp never goes up 65C under load !!! my Q6600 temp also wont go above 60C !!!

tell u guys something... NOT ALL Q6600 G0 have the same OCability !!!
MY Q6600 G0 have a VID of 1.25v !!! what is yours?

Conclusion
Lower VID = Better OC !!!

most Q6600 have VID of 1.3v !!! some have even 1.2v but very few !!!

for my Chip to go 4Ghz, need at least 1.55v !!! imagine that heat !!!!

yeah, very few Q6600 can do 4GHz with air cooling, so yours consider as gem but it's expected since the VID is 1.25v only brows.gif

last time ran at 3.6, then 3.5 and now 3.4...since running 3.6 or 3.4 will not really give me a real life diff, i opted 3.4 wif lower vcore...

the difference of performance is only noticeable in super pi calculations or extreme gaming where every Mhz counts in the FSB.. lol.

thx for the tip stasio, i was thinking last time how did i see my VID...... cant recall it, must be getting old already

haha, well it have a while since i last use core temp, i use riva tuner instead for hardware monitor with plug in to record the temperature graph........

few days already i didnt on my pc........ let me try to use core temp and see when i get home.....

actually i would live to stay in 3.0ghz, but when i play supreme commander forge alliance the cpu is bottlenecking in some games, therefore i force to push higher to get the game smooth going.....

common guys !!! PUMP ALL YOUR Q6600 to 4Ghz !!!!!!!!!!!

the facts

A QX9650 cost 3 to 4 times than a Q6600 !!!
but when the Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz is faster than a Q9650 @ stock !!!

So 4Ghz is more than enough to withstand till Year 2009 !!!!

so i will stick with the Q6600 till the next generation processor !!!
