actually got altec lansing in my mind since that day i go buy games i went into 1 of the shop the altec lansing 5:1 only RM305, but didnt test the speaker though...

Maybe you're basshead...actually C3 not bad, just because you feel the bass weak. But if you can find the spot properly C3 bass is suifficient, you can try plug it to your TV or DVD player and you'll blown away by it. I wonder why my C3 sound better when using it wih my PS2 rather than my PC? is my Realtek ALC888 really suck?

But if you insist to get a 5.1 with rm500, as I know hardly you can find 1, Edifier m3500 might be you target, else sonic gear, but they are really suck, and another option, +rm100 got for r501.

R501 how much anyway ? I thought around RM400 ?

Yes, a good sound card will improve the sq of C3.
A lousy sound card will produce "rubbish in rubbish out" effect.

long story short, c3 is not for basshead....

range RM400:

for basshead go for klipsch gmx
for balanced go for cs21 (hard to find but better than c3)
for clarity/voice/balanced go for c3

Sonic gear is good at bass, boomy but unaccurate and also uncovenience if i not mistaken it doesn't have RCA connector...Altec Lansing is good but you need >RM500 for high quality model. Why not try Aego M if you want something different. As i know every PC shop which sell speaker allow customer to test the speaker before buying.

actually i'm looking for a more bassy sound system lar, r501MKII at RM420 looks good, M3500 at RM329 the price also not bad....

but are the woofer running on downfiring or front firing? currently my LCD TV is downfiring, and it sounds good and clear, no matter which direction i go, the volume level remains the same for quite a distance

and also my living room is quite pack, especially at the front where the TV and other player is located, so if i want to place the woofer, place at where better? coz i heard if the wooder place too near to electronic stuff like DVD player or TV it will spoil the component inside the DVD player and TV, i got a PS3 under my TV and if i place my woofer beside it, it should be no good right? coz the woofer might damage the lense.

The R501mk2 woofer is downfiring. The M3500 is Sidefiring. Correct me if i am wrong Regarding the placement problem, those speaker from Edifier are magnetically shielded, so u dun have to worry about the problem.
