QUOTE(amsleeping @ Aug 27 2007, 07:46 AM)
Hello! I am in need of new speakers... can any1 recommend me a good 2.1 speaker or 2.0  wan?... I am in UK at the moment and unfortunately I cannot go stingey with Edifier coz they do not have it here. Sonic Gear is out too... Most UK forumers are crazy with Logitech and Creative... so i decided to turn back to the sagely Msian advice instead...
I will be using them with my Dell laptop to watch videos, listen to music and play games. Hmm... breakdown of usage will be:
30% watch TV shows (dun reli need the bass),
30% watch movies
25% listen to music
14% play games
1% listen to MSN nudges

Also, i move my laptop around alot and would prefer a portable (i dun mind how heavy) setup. Lastly, I am a bass addict but the darn houses in UK have cardboard-quality walls and the neighbourhood is always dead quiet... so I cant go too crazy on the bass.

My budget is rm300... give or take.
Speakers I am eyeing (price in UK):-
1) Logitech Z-10 (rm390)
2) Creative Gigaworks T20 (rm280)
3) Klipsch GMXA2.1 (rm380 - 2nd hand) or promedia ultra 2.0 (rm250 - 2nd hand, rm300 for new)
4) Altec Lansing XT2 (rm350)
5) Bose... havent looked into them yet

The 2nd hand prices for the klipsch is juz a prediction. I found them on UK ebay. Those prices will be my highest bids... i think. Anyways, feel free to add any good valued speakers 2.1 or 2.0 to my list. If i had edifier R201 here.... it would already suffice.

Thanks for helping me out. Please reply soon as the ebay auction is closing in 2 days. Thank you again!

PS. this is all someone's fault for selling me those MylarThree IEMs... They have pampered my ears so much that I cannot tahan my laptop speakers anymore.... hoho

QUOTE(snowcrash @ Sep 17 2007, 05:22 AM)
So my ancient Logitech Z-540 4.1 speakers just died, so I need to go and get a new set of speakers. Since no one seems to sell 4.1 anymore, I've decided to drop to 2.1's instead (PC & Xbox360 are both in my bedroom, and can't really expand into a 5.1 anyway).

So I'm looking for a really good pair of 2.1 speakers. Primary is gonna be watching video's & gaming (PC & Xbox 360 will be hooked to it, Xbox is thru my PC Monitor as well). It must also be dependable. My Z-540's lasted the better part of 4 years, so I'd like them to last.

I want to say that cost is no object (the constraint is more physical space in my room), but I don't wanna be too silly about it. Let's say I think it's ridiculous to go beyond RM700 for a 2.1 set. Though mind you, if it's really good I'll probably be able to convince myself.

Right now I'm looking at:

Altec Lansing FX 6021
I-Trigue L3800
Logitech Z-2300

One other thing that I'm looking for is easy availability. All three models above are easily available in LowYat.

So, what do you guys recommend? Is there any other 2.1's that I should listen to. I know nuts about Klipsch and the other brands, so recommendations welcome.

If u can wait, i will suggest u to wait for the new Edifier S530D(S 2.1D)/S730D(S .1MKII).
If u need it urgent, i will suggest u try out the S2.1M(S330). Please ask them to plug the input to the AUX-IN @ wired controller, it will give u more power cause the Input sensitivity higher than the Input at the back panel of the woofer.

that edifier mp300 looks so cute and small. it's mobile but is the subwoofer strong enough?
*
The mp300 subwoofer is 1 of the best sub on it's range of spk.

interested on edifier m2300, 41w rms 2.1 system.  For gaming, I like bass, thus the love of RMS.

anybody got experience or reviews on this?  Uncle google search yields no satisfactory review.

Thanks for replying, mate.  biggrin.gif

One more question, the review posted on Inter-Asia's website on the DA5000 claims that it has "muddy midrange response, and needed a little boost in the treble range". Does this affect gaming, or is it more of an audiophile problem? Anyways, is there an Edifier showroom of sorts where i can try out the speakers?

EDIT: Found the showroom location.  tongue.gif

U shud try it yourself, the mid of DA5000 not bad.
