Klipsch GMX A2.1....can fight with ur friend AL MX5021...summore now very cheap for RM399 for that sensational performance...

best bass + nice clarity...no regret..

ya...aego m is excellent for music...the bass is soft..that y is totally for audiophile purpose...

@narkon, FYI...the klipsch GMX A2.1 retail price is RM5xx for 2 years ago....

based on what i heard, AL MX5021 is loud n noisy n it irritating ur ears sometimes...yup the bass is powerful n nice clarity n midrange..but a bit too bright...when u turn the volume to 3 or 4..u can't heard the bass n all u heard is loud n very noisy...totally not balance...after i audit the mx5021 for listening music,i can't stand the sound for more than 30 mins...

Klipsch GMX is not = edifier r501 = altec cs21 = sonic gear Armageddon

klipsch gmx - best bass performance for that price range..nice clarity...
edifier r501 - surround purpose
altec cs21 - very nice at clarity rather than klispch (CS stand for concert stage),but the bass is not powerful than klipsch..
sonic gear armageddon - BOOM BOOM BOOM

plz say no to logitech if u listening to music..those logitech are wholy for movie or gaming purpose...the bass is there but the clarity is not there...

well,is all depend...but for edifier S530D..no comment..just some forumer n the same person keep recommend this speaker for the price range based on their personal review n reference,but i ain't c any review i can trusted on google for this speaker...just to let u know..

There are many review of S530D in internet,but sadly most of them is from chinese website from taiwan and China.The reason this speaker not yet review by those major Website is becoz Edifier was jus starting to move into western market.Time is needed.

I set the S530D + Audigy 2 Gold setting SW +8 Bass +4 Treble +4 volume 30 the punch strong enough vibrate my balls . If volume at 40 fuiyo my mouse started to jump on table, perhaps the woofer futher away from my table.

p/s when the volume at 40 make sure ur neighbour is not at home.

Initially i was thinking of buying aego m as it receives a lot of compliments from forumer so i went to Plaza Low yat and tried to listen to both S730 and Aego m. I changed my mind after listening ,i found otu that i like the sound of Edifier than aego m. The reason is i heard those hissing sounds emitted by the Aego m speakers when i turn it louder sad.gif . i dunno whether it's the speaker damaged or what. but in the end, i purchased the Edifier speakers instead rclxm9.gif It still served me well until today icon_rolleyes.gif So my advice is, go and tried the performance, and u will noe whether aego m or edifier is ur cup of tea rolleyes.gif ~ 6 Dec 2008

Too bad i can't bombard my room with my Edifier S730 coz i'm staying at apartment, haha. Anyway, TS, if your budget allows, get S730, its great. Audio 8, Movies 9, Gaming 9  I dunno how you guys define "bass". haha. but i feel that the bass of my Edifier S730 is already very strong when i only adjust it to +2 for satellite speakers, and +6 for the subwoofer. Too much of bass then all you can hear is Boom Boom Boom sounds, can't hear the instrumental sounds, singer voice is covered, i guess i had better off playing with fireworks instead  ~ 13th Dec 2008

Yeah i agree with you, I went to Plaza LY for audition of AL MX5021, Aego m,Edifier S530D and Edifier S730. I turned all of the speakers volume down and listened to the AL MX5021 1st, for the few mins i feel it's okay but you can't listen to the MX5021 for very long. I personally feel that the bass is not balance, it's like it's totally covered the musics, all you hear is the bass produced, can't really enjoy the musics. Then i tried the aego m, the clarity of the satellite speakers are gd, yet it's lack of bass, and i can hear those "hissing" sounds emitted by the speakers when i turned the volume louder (may b due to broken speakers). The last one i tried is Edifier S530D and S730. S730's satellite speakers are more sharp in comparison with the S530D i would say, then i tried to compare MX5021 and Edifier S730, i was shocked that i can hear the huge diff in term of clarity of both of the speakers, for the Edifier S730, you can hear the lyrics clearly but for the MX5021 it's muddy, only the bass is gd( too loud for me though) ~ Dec 28 2008

You may go for Altec Lansing MX5021 if you're a basshead, but the clarity of the speaker ain't that good. If you're looking for greater clarity with medium bass, Aego m and Edifier S530D and S730 are delivering, though Edifier S730 exceeds ur budget, it costs Rm999. Edifier S530D wise is around Rm600++. Klipsch 2.1 is also within ur budget, you may want to put it into consideration as well.~ 22 March 2009

I've nvr heard of audioengine but I did know little bit bout Aego M. If you like classical/jazz those type of soft musics, Aego m will be the first that you should consider, For movies like those type of action and war, Altec Lansing MX5021 would fit in, but for musics, the clarity is not gd enuf, the bass has covered everything so basically all you hear is boom boom boom, I don't really like it because I can't enjoy the musics at all, hearing it for long time also causing irritation/headache. As for Klipsch GMX 2.1. I heard that the latest version is not as gd as the previous version, cutting cost problem. Anyway, I would also want to introduce another brand of speaker which i found to be pretty gd, which is Edifier S530(D). this speaker is balance for everything, regardless of moveis/musics/gaming. You might want to look for this speaker as well as it's within ur budget. Hope it helps. Happy researching.If your budget is around 1k. Can try Edifier R501 MK2

In term of bass, z5500 better, but when comes to music, s730 produces better clarity.
R501 mk2 is a low-end 5.1, about rm400+-, so what do you think    ??

If you wanna make it inside rm1000, then s730(rm999+-), best 2.1 speaker in rm1000 IMHO.

If you wanna get 5.1 instead of 2.1, then s550(rm1299+-), off course you have to pay more   

If you want LOUD/BOOMY bass, which is suitable for gaming/movie, get Logi Z5500, which is not suitable for you if you like to listen to oldies/jazz, the satellite is not that good.

If you want clarity from the satellite, very tight bass from the sub, get Edifier s730, which is not suitable for you if you are a basshead, the bass is tight, but not as loud/boomy as Z5500, i don't know if this can shake your room or not, have to audition it yourself.
