Just subscribed to Unifi Air (no contract) a few days ago.

Am pretty disappointed with the speed, barely cecah 1-2mbps sometimes. At random times can get 10-20mbps, but I can't get it to consistently do so.

Contrast with Digi in my area can get up to 30mbps, even 100mbps on a good day.

So is it possible to get a refund of some sort on the RM100 deposit if I terminate? Getting immense buyers remorse rn tbh.

Anyone using Unifi Air with those cheap USB modems from Lazada/Shopee?

Saw a few good deals with the relevant bands (5 / 38 / 40) for below RM 100.

Considering getting one since I only need it for around 2 months

Also, anyone using the Air sim via a phone? I asked at a TM Point store and they said Unifi Air doesn't allow it and will block access if the sim is detected on a phone..

Hi, I have just started using Unifi Air last week, I've taken the SIM only plan bcuz I wanted to test the performance of Unifi Air. Before I decided to try this Unifi Air, I did do some research on whether the SIM can be use in mobile phone as Hotspot, I've checked with TM Point, their live chat customer service and even some tutorial videos on Youtube, the answer I've gotten is yes, can be use on mobile phone.

Upon receiving the SIM card, I slot into my smartphone to test on the connection & hotspot, everything is good until night time, suddenly there is no signal at all & no Unifi as carrier. Then, I quickly slot into my spare old phone it can be use, however on the next day, even that phone is having the same issue that all signal has lost.

Then, I approach their Live Chat CS, some ppl tell me can only be use on Modem, but some said can also use on phone. The frustration part is I've requested to speak to the Technical team but I've waited for one whole week, nobody bothers to call me or give me an email for the update of my issue. I think probably this is some new T&C imposed in this year, whereby last time can be use as hotspot, which explain why when I firstly insert into my phone it's works, but after few hours, it became No Service.

I lost confidence with Unifi service and I'm in the midst of porting out for Maxis Fibre.

I did tried using office Unifi Air sim in my Realme GT Neo3 to see if there would be 5G but no signal at all. I don't know if it was my phone not supporting band 38 and 40 or just Unifi blocking the access. Plugging back the sim into B618 and Internet is back. Tested at the same location.

Unifi Air block your HP IMEI. Cannot cheat ISP/Telco, they are able to detect if its a phone or a modem.

BTW from the website, Unifi Air doesn't support 5G. Only Unifi Mobile has 5G support.

This is the cheapest portable one, right ?

Just wonder, how big is the MODEM given by Unifi ? Convenient to bring here & there...

If apply UNifi air, take how long to get the SIM card etc ?

When you sign up, make sure to pick sim only without router. The Unifi Air sim will work on any router, there is no ISP/Telco lock. You have to pay a RM100 non refundable deposit. If the coverage or speed sucks, then just cancel.

Last time I ask Celcom Wireless Broadband had a trial plan. You pay a RM400 deposit for the router and sim. Then you may test the coverage and speed for 2 weeks. They give you I think around 2GB or 20GB data to test, sorry can't recall. If used above rate, you will have to pay the data usage. Once done you may return the router and sim and get back your deposit, minus any extra data usage.
