QUOTE(vreis @ Sep 10 2019, 01:52 PM) I saw for JR Kyushu, theres an option of purchasing "E-ticket for JR Kyushu Rail Pass Online booking" » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « "You can purchase a E-ticket for JR Kyushu Rail Passes through the JR Kyushu Rail Pass Online Booking
*After you arrive in Japan, please bring your E-ticket to one of the following ticket offices to pick up your "JR Kyushu Rail Pass." Any idea/experience on this option? Also for seat reservation, its a bit confusing as it stated need 1000 yen for reservation but 5 day JR Kyushu North pass stated free reservation 16 times  BTW Suica card can be used in Fukuoka? E Ticket not very sure 1000yen reservation is to reserve seat using online with ur JR pass. Reserve seat at selected station JR office is free. Suica can use in fukuoka. But i didnt really use a lot suica bcox they city day pass seem can save more.

QUOTE(Monya Meow Meow @ Sep 10 2019, 11:33 AM) This thread might give you a bit of an idea - https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/commen...ing_a_reserved/TLDR version: no there is no penalty but it's just bad form so please don't abuse the system. If you do happen to miss, try to immediately cancel it and book a new time. Thanks for the link. How about cancelling the reservation and book a new one if we arrived the station very much earlier? Is this a norm or also something ppl frown upon?

Any idea how to explore Fruit Bus Stops at Nagasaki? I Googled and not much details but it's famous in China. Apparently they are along a highway and may not be easy to travel around. RegentCid, is this written somewhere in your 555 book?

It was inside Konagai Town which is 1 hour away from Nagasaki City.

Not packed for Nagasaki, only three places to visit. The rest on day 1 near hotel, within walking distance. I saw it can be reached with JR train?

He conclusion was: If you go by public transport are waste of time. You had to take normal train to Konagai Station and walk 15 minute to reach 1st strawberry bus stop Location https://goo.gl/maps/aFa3z6Q5LFZBkNby9Next bus stop are far away, beyond reach by walking. Due to small town, bus are not frequent. Waiting at Strawberry bus stop taking bus to next fruit bus stop might take 30 - 60 minute of waiting time. He suggestion was, If you got 3 -4 hrs to waste for this nonsense, you are good to go

But yeah after googling there's about 14 types of fruit stops, so if you want to maximise ur fruity coverage don't use the buses. Better to rent car and hop from stop to stop otherwise ur waiting time will probably be longer than ur excitement. Also Nagasaki has much more than just the A Bomb stuff but I guess not everything suits everyone's cup of matcha tea. This post has been edited by babylon52281: Sep 11 2019, 12:13 AM

I will be covering 7 places in Nagasaki, I guess that's good enough but this fruit thingy is really challenging. Unless I drive which I don't have much choice anyway. Let me break the news to her tomorrow because if possible we try not to drive for this trip and want to use their public transport. Next year if we are going to NZ, I'm going to drive like really a lot, all the time. This post has been edited by fruitie: Sep 11 2019, 12:20 AM

From this https://zekkeijapan.com/spot/index/709/ and this https://grapee.jp/en/54483 seems like its limited to only 1 road which is Highway 207 so hunting is much easier; just go along this route. But I think another better way is get to Konagai and find a private tour or a local taxi driver that could take you both to all these stops and wait at the side. I read that some cities, taxis can be rented for the whole day but not sure if this is applicable to your case. This post has been edited by babylon52281: Sep 11 2019, 12:50 AM

It will cost you Rm1000 above. 10 minute distance in Japan taxi already cost 4000 to 5000 yen.

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 10 2019, 10:01 AM) check the operating time for the counter if not wrong, most counter would have close by 10PM which is why i don't plan to get any "pass" at all because can't collect any at all can't even take the train to kyoto since the last train is 10.30PM QUOTE(Monya Meow Meow @ Sep 10 2019, 11:25 AM) I think you get the Kansai One from the JR West office at Kansai Airport, which is open from 05:30 to 23:00 so you might be able to make it if there are no delays. Thanks! JR West Office does indeed close at 11pm! One less thing to worry about

Yeah, I'm well aware of that when I suggested that. Certainly not cheap but it would better to work out a flat rate half day fare or something. That or self-drive otherwise its gonna be a big waste of time just waiting for the buses at each stop.

Normally if you reach early and cancel your original booking, it's ok because that means that seat can now be used for other passengers.

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 11 2019, 08:56 AM) better to go now before their GST hike and their olympic begins from october onwards until next year olympic is over, it's going to be very expensive to travel to japan Some have planned long ago so can't avoid it. Like me, I'm supposed to arrive there smack right on 1st day of tax hike so you can see how I feel, but what to do. Japan is an expensive country to go to anyway regardless of tax hike or currency inflation or Olympics, so just need to make sure got budget enough for visit, travel in comfort, not being too calculative, and extras for contingencies.
