QUOTE(Belphegor @ Jan 25 2019, 10:10 AM) That depends as I have a friend who had issue with the passport chip, withheld at immigration for almost 1 hour, came out to airport around 10.45 almost 11pm. Luckily still manage to catch last train/bus to the hotel late night. QUOTE(Chaud @ Jan 25 2019, 10:46 AM) how fast will depends on how fast you walk from your plane to the immigration counter. will you be going to toilet after disembarking? long queue? airport side always panjang gila try in the city centre, shorter queue Thanks for the input guys.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Feb 3 2019, 01:13 PM) Nohibus got 2-day bus + admisson ticket + 1000yen coupon package. Very worth it I think you can start early and come back Takayama around 2-3pm. Bus is not that frequent, i think 1 bus every hour only. Going up and down the ropeway, i think at most u spend 1-1.5hr. When i went during spring, it was -5 degree at the top. I suggest making use of the 2-day bus pass and spend a night at various ryokan along the route. It’s relatively cheap also since this area is not so touristy yet. I paid around RM700 for 2pax half board. Thanks... There was none during my travel period. All accommodation are mostly full for my travel period and expensive as well. QUOTE(FreedomSeeker @ Feb 3 2019, 09:06 PM) I drive to there. I did ask the hotel reception bout the bus. Bus would take 2h to reach. About the bus package not much information bro. Maybe you need to look online d. For driving i took 1.5h actually can faster but due to a bit snow on road i worry of ice road so i drive rather slow. I start drive from 10am+ and reach around 12pm the ropeway to the top took like 30m then spend like 30min on the observation deck then lunch at there and continue to have fun playing snow outside the building for around 1.5h then the ropeway come down fast a bit. Then drive back to takayama reach at around 5pm+. Half day is possible if depart early morning. But there is no snow i think you wont spend so much time. Mostly you will enjoy the view taking pictures. Thanks. Appreciate it. This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Feb 4 2019, 08:55 PM

QUOTE(Puteih @ Feb 15 2019, 05:31 PM) If your travelling group is big, I would suggest Biwako House in Kyoto. It's just beside Lake Biwa, quite nice quiet small town. Only catch is there is no bus between accommodation and train station; you can either walk (about 1KM) or book a taxi. If you don't mind waiting, you don't need express pass for USJ. I went on Tuesday early November last year, only 2 queues were almost an hour (Flying dinosaur and Minions Mayhem). Harry Potter ride was about 30 mins or so (I went in the evening as well), Spiderman was even shorter. Hi.. It's you again. I'm waiting for my flight back to KL at Kix now Its been a good 11 days here. Temperatures are quite cold now as it is the peak of winter. Had good snow at Shirakawa Go and Shin Hotaka ropeway. QUOTE(MR_alien @ Feb 22 2019, 08:52 AM) If you are going to Osaka city and its attractions, I would strongly suggest you buy the Osaka Amazing Pass for two days. Free rides on all subways (exlude JR) and buses and many free entry into many attractions around osaka. Really worth it. Like a forummer just mentioned, Kyoto is much more direct and simple. The main attractions are mostly out of town though, but accessible by bus. This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Feb 23 2019, 01:03 PM

QUOTE(sacwoc @ Feb 22 2019, 02:38 PM) Finally exchange my soon to expires miles for a trip to Tokyo in April with my family. As I will be a first time being a tourist there, anyone knows where is the best place to rent a car? Planning to drive out of city for two days. Not sure where but karuizawa might be an option. Toyota Car Rental and Nippon car rental offers very competitive rates and pickup at airport.

QUOTE(japman @ Mar 5 2019, 02:12 PM) I went the opposite way during my trip last Dec. Took the Romance car at 7:27 at Shinjuku arrived to Hakone Yumato at 8:30. Bus ride to Hakone Machi-Ko (9:00) > walk along the Cedar Avenue> Motohakone-Ko and visited the famous Torii Gate>Took the pirate ship to Togendai at 11:00 (saw Mt Fuji along the way)>Up to Owakudani> arrive to Gora (13:00)> took a bus to Gotemba Premium Outlet at 13:50 - shopping > back to Hakone Yumato at 17:00. So if you leave Gora at 13:00 and ship Gotemba, you can arrive to Hakone Yomuato at 16:00 Hi... Do you stay overnight in Hakone or do a daytrip there? Is it worth staying overnight at Hakone itself? Would a daytrip be a bit too rush though Hakone is not too far away from the city. This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Mar 5 2019, 02:17 PM

QUOTE(japman @ Mar 5 2019, 02:22 PM) No, just a day trip from Tokyo. Travelling with family and not into onsen. Main aim is to see the magnificent Mt Fuji from different location which we did. If you like the onsen experience, then should plan to stay overnight. Heard that the ryokan there is expensive and need to book in advance. I like onsen, but don't really like jumping into the pool with other naked men.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Mar 5 2019, 07:20 PM) There’s reserveable private bath Haha.. Too costly for me I'm afraid. I'm sure it will be nice to have a private onsen by yourself. Nowadays, you get a lot of naked Chinese nationals talking aloud when you are in the onsens.

QUOTE(Chaud @ Mar 6 2019, 11:26 PM) yes. went there last year. what you wanna know? I am planning to go do this route. Plan to start from Nagano and end at Dentetsu Toyama Station. Issue is Im planning on driving to Nagano and starting from this side but the route will end at Toyoma. Either option would be is to take the car forwarding service which costs 25000yen to shuttle the car to Toyoma or I have to take the Shinkansen back to Toyoma to collect my car. The other method is to go to Toyoma side and go up through Tateyama right up to Murodo and return back to Tateyama to collect my car. Can I backtrack like this because I saw the Tateyama Kurobe Option Ticket is only for on way and cant be backtracked. Is there any better other method to go about this? All inputs welcome.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Mar 7 2019, 12:13 PM) Option ticket is a cheaper way to complete the whole route in 1-direction. You definitely can backtrack by purchasing the tickets separately. Thank you. Any other options other than the ones I mentioned?

QUOTE(Chaud @ Mar 7 2019, 08:40 PM) i would recommend you complete the whole route. otherwise its just like seeing halfway. once you're at toyama, take the shinkansen back to nagano. its only 1 way up becoz by the time you reach toyama its already close to dusk Shinkansen is another 1 hours 15 mins back to Nagano and it costs 7200 yen one way.

QUOTE(athirah88 @ Mar 14 2019, 01:17 PM) Hi! Am planning to buy a pass from klook, the only problem is that plane lands at 9.40pm klook counter closes at 10pm? Will i be able to redeem the pass when i arrive? Anyone has any experience? Thanks! I can say you will most likely miss the counter. By the time you take the shuttle train to the main building and then pass immigration and then customs checks, it would be way pass 10pm. All the tourists and sales counters are on the ground floor. Arrival is the on the 1st floor.

QUOTE(bullshyt @ Mar 20 2019, 04:23 PM) option 1 is exciting but risky, may i know what is the success rate of using option 1? don't you need to wait for clearance and luggage? I dont suggest you do it. You might have a long queue at immigration or customs and the outcome would be the same. Try to make it out to the Klook counter by 10pm is not doable if you ask me. Try pickup elsewhere.

QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Apr 10 2019, 11:25 AM) Hi all, I will fly to Japan next month to visit Toyama region ( Alpine Route, Matsumoto, Kamikochi ). I purchased the 5 days JR ticket that able to take all rides in Alpine route, as well as all JR line from Nagoya -> Takayama -> Toyama -> Alpine Route -> Matsumoto -> Nagoya But does anyone know whether the bus travel from Toyama to Alpine Route is covered or not? I haven't bought any bus ticket yet. The bus ride is included in the Tateyama Kurobe Option Ticket (One Way). Not your Japan Rail Pass.
