QUOTE(deodorant @ Feb 27 2019, 08:05 PM) Hard to comment until you enrich it a bit with the places you plan to go. For example your 2 days Tokyo, how many attractions are you planning to visit? For a quick comparison, my wife and I have spent ~20 days in Tokyo over 6 visits and still haven't covered all the places the city (and surrounding areas) has to offer. Even I 20 Years still not yet discover all |

QUOTE(malayantiger @ Mar 5 2019, 12:30 PM) Sorry to ask again. Its about the Hokone Loop. Starting from Hokone-Yumoto, Gowa, Ropeway to Owakudani, Pirate Ship, Hokone Port, bus back to Hokone-Yumoto. How long is the total journey. We plan to leave early from Shinjuku to arrive by 9, maybe 10 am to avoid the long queues (apparently the queues can be horrendously long). We are travelling in early May. Btw some travellers suggest doing the journey in reverse, is that a good idea? The Loop can go another way round also can. Because most of people doing Yumoto > Gora > Owakudani.....During peak season it will alot people. The reason is we are hoping to complete the loop to arrive back at Hakone-Yumoto say by 4pm so that we can enjoy the onsen before heading back to Shinjuku on the same day. If peak season I will go another way to avoid Q. If normal season, any way also can. |

QUOTE(wkwong91 @ Mar 4 2019, 09:47 PM) Is it comfortable to sleep if i take the "RELAX[NEW]"? Beside that, any other recommendation for overnight bus to Tokyo? Prefer comfortable to sleep since my parent is following too. Japan bus driver really professional. During night time It will drive more slower compare daytime. It purposely drive slower do avoid vibration and bumpy ride |

QUOTE(Timberwolf83 @ Mar 12 2019, 01:17 PM) Hi all, need your view recommendations. Your Pro and Cons are no valid infront of me. I'm bringing my wife and 2 1/2 year old kid to Japan in Mid April. Me and wife don't know which place to go. The option is either Sapporo or Osaka. Two places offers very different activities. My pros and cons according to my view: Sapporo: Pros: 1. Quieter ( want to run away from the hustle and bustle of city) 2. Relaxing to walk around, slower pace. 3. A lot of nature site seeing 4. Maybe lucky to enjoy snow Cons: 1. Food & accommodation maybe more expensive compared to Osaka 2. Language communication may be slightly more difficult in Sapporo. 3. Public transport may not be as accessible as Osaka Osaka: 1. Food & accommodation more options and cheaper too. 2. Public transport is more accessible. 3. Huge aquarium park which is one of the largest in the world. And the cons is the exact opposite of Sapporo Pros. Sapporo public transport does not lose to Osaka at all. Entire Sapporo City are cover by Subway , Tram and Bus + Sightseeing bus. If you say Hokakido yes, not Sapporo. Both cities also got cheap and splurge food, In Sapporo I can found seafood don as cheap as 500Yen which you cannot found entire Japan except Sapporo. Accommodation are depends season. Overall Hokkaido hotel are cheaper than Osaka big city. Bigger the city more expensive the land value and more expensive the hotel price. |

QUOTE(Vickyle @ Mar 14 2019, 11:32 PM) If I bring my laptop to Japan, how do I charge the laptop? Different power plug. Buy convertor? Just need buy Universal Plug converter only. Probably need this info on 1st page? But most of Japan hotel now days got provided Universal Socket type, British or American 2 in 1 Malaysia Input are 240V while Japan only 110V. So Japan Voltage won't burn Malaysia Adapter. If you buy Japan made 110V input converter and used in Malaysia, This post has been edited by RegentCid: Mar 15 2019, 10:19 AM |

QUOTE(Vickyle @ Mar 15 2019, 10:58 AM) Thank you for the reply. Very informative Never exchange money at Airport. Due to expensive rent, the rate they give you are lowest. What about currency exchange? Option (1): Withdraw japanese yen directly from Japan ATM. There is a fixed charge rate per transaction. Option (2): Bring Malaysia ringgit and exchange at Japan airport. Which one cheaper? Option 1 seems less trouble. I always exchange 100k Yen at Malaysia and shopping or expensive stuff are pay by using credit card. |

Japan allow maximum 1 liters per pax carry on-board aircraft with duty free seal bagBut is there a limit to how much liquor i can bring back to Malaysia from Japan without having to pay import duties? Hope none of you travel plans during the week after golden week lol "Most Japanese people typically only have four or five days off during Golden Week, but this year everyone gets to enjoy a whopping 10-day vacation from April 27 to May 6." This year I will avoid it at all cost. Plan going South East Asia country enjoy this golden week. |

QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Apr 16 2019, 09:12 AM) Guys, does anyone know whether I can use the 5 days Tateyama Kurobe Option ticket to get transport from Ogizawa station to Shina-Omachi station? I watch youtube and it seems like there is bus directly to that station. 1) Yes, Alpine Kurobe Pass does include Ogizawa to Shina-Omachi Station, Vice Versa by bus ride. For the Tateyama station to Bijodaira station ride, from the youtuber video it seems like I need to reserve the timeslot to get into it and this is the only ride that required to book the seat, the rest of the 5 types of rides are basically queuing. Did anyone experience this? 2) Tateyama station to Bijodaira station ride was a tram same like our Bukit Bendera. It got timetable. No need booked seat, first come first serve, once it full, you just need wait for next ride. every 20 minute 1 ride. This post has been edited by RegentCid: Apr 16 2019, 10:43 AM |

QUOTE(Jet23sky @ Apr 16 2019, 09:48 AM) Nice info!! Thanks. I will try to get the earliest ride to Alpine route, cause second day after staying in Tateyama hotel i will need to make sure that I can reach Matsumoto before night so I can still visit some places in Matsumoto. Depends you go on which season, Winter Season (April) & Autumn Season more early you go more people u will get, everyone wanted to go most early, end up most jam packed.beginning of May, the middle of August, and the beginning of October This post has been edited by RegentCid: Apr 16 2019, 11:14 AM |

QUOTE(lunarwolf @ Apr 18 2019, 09:03 PM) Sharing my experience on 28th march. Flight drop on haneda on 915pm. Took around 15 minutes to leave the airplane. Spend around 30 mins on custom and luggage. 9:15pm and 10:15 pm alot big diffrence. So basically is already 10pm when clearing custom. Took another 30 mins to get the voucher from global wifi/plug and play my sim card/ getting pasmo/getting direction to correct train to go my hotel. Took me another hour to get to my hotel at tawaramachi. Basically when i reached my hotel is already close to 12. 10:15pm will have ANA flight from Singapore, Emirates from Dubai , Hawaiian Air from Honolulu. Emirates A380 will bring 500+ passenger into Haneda at that time, custom section will bottleneck This post has been edited by RegentCid: Apr 18 2019, 10:38 PM |

QUOTE(Randomization @ Apr 24 2019, 09:25 AM) I dont know how my question can be very general. Jan are coldest month. can reach -10 to -15, most blizzard storm. Alot train line will shutdown due to blizzard storm. Even self driving also very challenging. 1 - Jan or Feb (which month better) 2 - how long duration to explore enough places (not rush, meaning not too packed) The reason I did not limit to what my preference is to get idea from those who went before to share their experience here. I'm not even asking for a detailed itinerary. If that is too much, then I'll try elsewhere. Thanks anyway. Accident once, almost bye bye to this world. Hokkaido very big, If you want cover all cities, it will takes you one month. Very General one such as Sapporo + Otaru + (Lake Toya + Noboribetsu) or (Asahikawa + Biei + Furano) will be 1 week. Sapporo + Otaru + Lake Toya + Noboribetsu + Asahikawa + Biei + Furano + Hakodate will be 2 week Sapporo + Otaru + Lake Toya + Noboribetsu + Asahikawa + Biei + Furano + Hakodate + Wakkanai + Obihiro + Kushiro + Abashiri will be 1 month |
