You can still use the old STB. 30 Mbps almost certainly not enough for 24/7 4K streaming.
*
nope...i am vdsl 2 30Mbps ultimate pack. can play youtube 4k with mac pro. no buffer. run smooth

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2020, 10:12 AM)
from the info so far i read, for existing customers....

1. u sign new contract 24 months x rm10 pm to get this new box... looks like u can use old+new, i.e. 2... max 1+3 = 4 for one account.
it is unclear if it means the additional boxes will run as STB to get 4k/hd channels or like other boxes using the app to get SD/poor hd quality...?

2. or "upgrade" to one of those new packages with 2 yr contract.
problem is there are many who are now paying rm189, 179, 169, 159... for 300, 500, 800mbps.
nobody will "upgrade" from 800 to 300mbps and pay more (RM199) just to get the new box!!

my conclusion - for existing customers who previously had free upgrades >300mbps and paying <rm199, this new box offer is meaningless.

perhaps just wait... later in the year, some other offers may come out..?
*
Yeah I’m on 800mbps non ultimate , would’ve considered the new plan if it was 199 for 500mbps. Maybe they’ll have something for existing customers middle of the year or to coincide with any holidays like Raya or something.

240 for a tv box with a lot of limitation, better get from outside

Already have an Nvidia shield 2015, this is strictly to replace the crappy looking silver box with a sleek black box as we do use unifi at home for my parents lol.

after 24 month .. unifi plus tv box will be belong to user

same like easy phone celcom / maxis / digi purchase using installment every month after 24 month phone will belongs to us
*
Can you confirm this? I somehow think that TM will still charge additional RM10 per month after 24 month end. Just that we're no longer tied to contract. If TM still charge, how to cancel it other than change to a new package or terminate Unifi?

Yes, this bbc player app is also now in regular android google playstore.

Navigate with mouse... the ATG version can do with remote.

Essentially same app, both started oct 2019.

So, any ultimate user wanting this bbc player app, it is now available on any android device, regular or ATV.

Go for it if you don't need the 500Mbpb speed.
If you seldom make calls, cancel the Talktime. Save another RM20 per month.
*
Never knew about this. If that's the case, I just might maintain my current plan, add the Unifi TV Plus and just cancel the Talktime. Thanks for the tip thumbup.gif

Works on my Bravia 2016. Just search in TV's PlayStore and it'll show the correct one if there is more than one type of the same app.

All the apps available on new Unifi STB except Unifi TV app should be usable on any Android TV such as Bravia.

The BBC Player for Android phone is already available since a long time ago. I remember using it when BBC Player was launched on Unifi.

Edit: PlayStore shows February 2017

the PLAYTV app currently v7.9.11 does not work on ATV; older v7.9.8 works but will die later.
this is the annoying part - seems they wanna kill it for ATV - too bad for the sonys and sharps.
the new gen PLAYTV now v1.2.10... for those migrated or new subscribers... not sure, but i think will also not work on ATV.

bbc player... possible regular android app was there for some time... i just saw the update oct 2019.
for ATV, that version, as said by someone already, is rather new.

Just applied for the addon unifi plus box, tomorrow the installer will come & install. Actually I'm hoping to get the unit & install it myself, alas no avail. Will update on the performance, benchmarks etc. once done.

Edit: Just an idea though, for those who wants to apply / upgrade /downgrade unifi, I think it's a good idea to apply for the unifi 100mbps @ RM129, then addon on the unifi plus box @ RM10 for a total of RM139/month, rather than taking the unifi 100mbps @ RM159 that comes with the old unifi box (although it got ultimate pack). That way, you save RM20 monthly, AND you got the new unifi plus box. Just my piece of mind.

You can still receive calls. Outgoing calls will be chargable on per call basis.
