Never really use Century before but their road side service is one of the very best. I respect their support capability.

Honorable mention for good battery based on personal experience is Yokohama,Varta, Panasonic and Amaron for high capacity low budget.

Via batteryku.com kinda ok except the mileage capped warranty

Aiyoh you are replying to my post that's so old.

Just a rehash, when this thread was started, I was an end user, just like y'all guys. Why this thread started it was because I had encountered my first bad experience with Century Hybrid despite having a long time user of Century Hybrid battery user with average lifespan 4 years. At that time I thought I would have to find another reliable brand to start all over but a strange twist of fate somehow I ended up choosing to work with Century Battery and never looked back since.

Now as a Battery Manager, I like to manage fleet of new vehicles and those who has bought new vehicles and have NOT done any battery replacement yet in order to get maximum results. đŸ˜‰

What I dislike most is reconditioned alternators as they will just screw up things. Currently there is a client who had been informed to contact me immediately when the Battery Warning Light Indicator appears, which will be about sometime next week, I think I have guessed it right. I hope he will get a new car and let me manage it from thereonwards. The SC can do the other maintenance but when it comes to the terminals and battery it's hands off policy with me. I don't even allow my SCs to touch my terminals and batteries in my vehicles.

What brand for the charger? I saw few YouTube video, when he do maintenance by charging it monthly, choose repair mode for 6-8 hours making the old battery's CCA near to original level back

I have 2 battery chargers. The first one i bought was Bosch C7, second one was a cheapo Foxur charger.

Somehow I have the feeling that the Bosch C7 never really charged to full. Hence for normal MF battery i use Foxur. (Picanto)

For my other car with AGM, I use the Bosch C7.

The logic behind removing the battery from the vehicle to be recharged is a safety issue. Imagine if the SC was charging the battery while it was inside the vehicle, so who will be responsible when the battery explodes and acid damages the vehicle ? That is why TSB says the battery must be remove for recharging. However manufacturers of external chargers will claim that it is OK to charge while the battery is connected to the vehicle. Well if the manufacturers of external charger is willing to compensate for any damages arising thereonwards, then go on right ahead.

For the 2 chargers I have, normal charging, no need to unplug the battery terminals.

However, if your battery is drained (by forgetting to turn off light overnight), you will need to use "rescue" or "repair" mode which requires the battery terminals to be removed for safety reason as the charger is likely to charge up / repair / rescue the drained battery with 14v. With 14V charging, you want to protect your ECU and other electronics in the car, hence requires the terminals to be removed.

hi all, is it now the trend of battery will suddenly die (cannot start) within warranty period then when seller take back and recharge they will say the battery is good and install back for you.

twice for astra brand diff car, and heard once from bosch also.

From Bateriku apps? Maybe we need to read more on the fine print terms and conditions for the apps. Their warranty practice by recharge, if true, I better find other apps then

My car insurance Company MSIG provided free towing last time. Quite fast service too.
