Any ideas why this happens?

Up until 500Mbps, I always use speedtest.tm.com.my for my speedtests. It was fast and consistent. But on 800Mbps, my results vary depending on the browser I use.

user posted image

On TM's speedtests, Firefox is nice and fast but Safari is always consistently slower. I thought maybe Safari's fault but it does fine on Time's speedtest or speedtest.net.

Did a few more tests.
Chromium browsers - I tested Safari, Chrome, Brave & Opera - are not as fast as Gecko browsers - Firefox, Waterfox - on speedtest.tm.com.my. This is on MacOS. Are Windows users seeing the same thing?
*
I see the same issue on my windows 10 pc as well. I find that browser based speedtests seem to yield highest speeds on Microsoft Edge.

Taobao shipped with outside forwarding agent, confirmed no need pay sirim. Ship by "Sensitive item" shipping.
I got my ac86u not more than RM 600 with shipping.

I am planning to purchase RT-AC66U to be used with the unifi 100Mbps package. Wanted to check:

1. It should be compatible with unifi right?
2. Does it have router level vpn features that allows me to connect to remote vpn server?
3. Should i decide to upgrade my unifi to higher speed in future, will this router still be capable enough to handle the speed?

Thanks

Saw in the comment above ASUS malaysia is selling for 949, ao i guess its worth it since i saved about rm 200. Im not sure from taobao, but as per the courier any wireless items needs sirim approval. And as for the approval its pretty simple, all can be done online,

============
1) Application form
2) Technical specification (product brochure)
3) Copy of invoice (if relevant)
4) Copy I/C or passport for personal application
5) Payment
6) Supporting document from forwarding agent /Pos Laju / Fedex / etc.
7) Copy email for counter staff SIRIM reference
==============

Hope thia helps if u plan to buy from amazon.

1. Yes
2. You have to read the manual for that.
3. It might. It supports up to 500Mbps on wifi.

I recommend you get the AC68U though, just because it is slightly better.

If you purchase all these items, it will be automatically marked as sensitive items.

Find third party forwarding agent. They have normal air shipping & sensitive air shipping (which normally for electronic items, or any sensitive item will be prohibited upon custom clearance)

Btw OT already ya. You can google it.
or refer this : http://hxil.pw/content/?id=1005 (my always use forwarding agent)

TM gave me 2 choices, either I pay RM250 to change new modem without 2 years tying contract or get a new modem for free with 2 years contract. What is the modem that they will provide us? Currently signing up 500mbps contract. Thanks

Don't bother. Get your own router. 500Mbps contract? You mean you are getting turbo upgrade to 500Mbps? New signup is only 30 or 100Mbps.

Ouch, why did you do that? Might as well buy your own. Routers are cheap and plenty are better quality than DIR-842.

Modem (BTU) or router? I thought TM only charge RM188 for router.
