have u upgraded your router already? any difference?
Yep I know my upload speed is fine, but I can't get past 302Mbps download speed on speed test on cat6 wired.

As John said, it might not be related to router issue. Suggest u restart in safe mode with networking and rerun speedtest app. That's the quickest way to diagnose if it's a computer related microcode throttling or just a computer issue vs a router issue.

I am also limited by this microcode issue. 800Mbps but typically about 720Mbps using edge browser, 660-700Mbps using app or chrome browser. In safe mode with networking easily able to hit 820Mbps download and 220Mbps upload speeds.

Speaking of which.....how about your Alienware 15 R1?
Because you had updated the laptop to latest firmware which contain the problematic 0x24....., you have no choice but to disable spectre mitigations via registry method.

Renaming the mcupdate will not work for your case.

Yeah...will need to get to registry fix as u recommended but hv not done so yet. The thing is for now I get max 200Mbps anyway for foreign sites and for local it's almost 700Mbps..I really don't see a need to fix it...need to get it done one of these days. There does seem to be some some throttling of speeds to US or EU..do u see the same?

sorry for the late reply I was away for a day.

1) Router is DIR-850L, wired LAN. Cables are all Cat6(my Ugreen cat6 cables arrived today.).

2)I tested on both speedtest.net and TM speed test website, on mutiple browsers, without extensions and incognito mode, with browser hardware accleretaion on&off.

I have 3 desktops on Cat6. and all of them are getting the same 340Mbps D/L and 204Mbps U/L.
Yesterday I contacted TM live chat, she reset my port but problem is still there.

But I have another problem too, Only IP that starts with certain numbers gives me 340Mbps download speed. other IPs, barely reaching 200Mbps download.

So I contacted live chat again and now they're gonna send their technical team over because the problem MUST be on their side.

Did u try to do a speedtest using the app in safe mode with networking?

That shd help to confirm if it's ur setup.

That's expensive! Unless you need the speed, save 50% by switching to the 100 Mbps for rm129! If you want Ultimate TV pack is only RM 30 more. Massive savings!
What about your young grandparents? Haha. Great if you using it. My 500 Mbps for 159 only gives me Ultimate TV pack but no free calls. But my mobile plan got free calls and there's WhatsApp call.

Can u imagine those who are paying RM299 for 800Mbps +STD20 + ultimate....

One fight at a time...it took some effort to get from 100Mbps to 800Mbps...

Would love to keep the 800Mbps...and only pay RM159/RM189 like some here

I'd rather pay less, 500 Mbps doesn't transform my user experience and while I enjoy my ultimate TV pack, I can't pay any less than this. Ok lo.

I do see an improvement in download speeds to US and EU servers which is something that does help since I moved from 100Mbps to 800Mbps.

I wish they had an option to allow downgrade to 300Mbps or 500Mbps and pay below RM200 rather than going all the way down to 100Mbps at RM129.

It's never fun paying more for something than others but I don't see how to get around this for now.

Any ideas why this happens?

Up until 500Mbps, I always use speedtest.tm.com.my for my speedtests. It was fast and consistent. But on 800Mbps, my results vary depending on the browser I use.

user posted image

On TM's speedtests, Firefox is nice and fast but Safari is always consistently slower. I thought maybe Safari's fault but it does fine on Time's speedtest or speedtest.net.

Did a few more tests.
Chromium browsers - I tested Safari, Chrome, Brave & Opera - are not as fast as Gecko browsers - Firefox, Waterfox - on speedtest.tm.com.my. This is on MacOS. Are Windows users seeing the same thing?

I see the same issue on my windows 10 pc as well. I find that browser based speedtests seem to yield highest speeds on Microsoft Edge.
