Using Edge for anything...no...good. Try Ookla speedtest on unused Edge. Edit: Just now tested...... This post has been edited by stasio: Oct 11 2018, 09:18 AM

Why does no one here talk about *contention*. AFAIK all connections to ISPs are shared with other users. If a lot of people are using the service then no one will get the maximum advertised speed. Throughput will vary with the time of day.

QUOTE(Karen1995 @ Oct 10 2018, 01:27 PM) WiFi connected to iMac, Mi Router 3G. Both product only support 2x2 MIMO for 802.11ac, so around 300-400 Mbps over WiFi sounds about right. To be able to get higher speed, use ethernet cables or you'll have to get a better router AND a 3x3 MIMO usb wifi adapter (do they even exist?)

Just dusted off the old TIME provided H298N hoping to be able to repurpose it. Can't seem to find an option to upgrade the firmware or switch the mode to access point. Any ideas?

QUOTE(Proton2.0 @ Oct 10 2018, 02:06 PM) Powerline still better than Wifi, no? Havent tried it myself though. I only use it for normal usage. Yes still better than WiFi. But for my case it maxes out to 300 Mbps even though the throughput churned out by the utility app they provide is 800-900 Mbps. I'm guessing it's some setting (QOS disabled though in the powerline) or just noise that makes it max out like that. I'm using the 1200 Mbps (all powerlines same model) from AzTech. Other brand/models might achieve the desired results though.

QUOTE(Proton2.0 @ Oct 11 2018, 10:15 AM) But that is something beyond our control. Besides, if there is no serious impact to our daily usage, i dont see it as a big problem. I think the difference for business line is they have dedicated bandwidth, hence expensive, while home users shares the lot on best effort basis. Correct me if i am wrong. You're right. I'm just pointing out that a lot of people in this thread complain about low bandwidth when it could simply be contention effects. And I agree that Time does not appear to be bad in this regard. But, on a slightly different issue, I do find that international streaming does slow down markedly in the evening, so maybe the international connectivity could do with upgrading. (I'm using Kodi and various APKs).

Planning to retire the powerline setup and move to mesh wifi soon. Probably TP-Link Deco m9 plus.

Hey guys, is the Archer C7 sufficient to use for 500Mbps? Looking for around 400Mbps over 802.11ac 5GHz with 2x2 MIMO.
