Why does no one here talk about *contention*. AFAIK all connections to ISPs are shared with other users. If a lot of people are using the service then no one will get the maximum advertised speed. Throughput will vary with the time of day.

QUOTE(Proton2.0 @ Oct 11 2018, 10:15 AM) But that is something beyond our control. Besides, if there is no serious impact to our daily usage, i dont see it as a big problem. I think the difference for business line is they have dedicated bandwidth, hence expensive, while home users shares the lot on best effort basis. Correct me if i am wrong. You're right. I'm just pointing out that a lot of people in this thread complain about low bandwidth when it could simply be contention effects. And I agree that Time does not appear to be bad in this regard. But, on a slightly different issue, I do find that international streaming does slow down markedly in the evening, so maybe the international connectivity could do with upgrading. (I'm using Kodi and various APKs).

QUOTE(Hunz @ Oct 20 2018, 12:05 PM) I'm able to hit around 180Mbps only. If someone able to hit around 500Mbps then it could be my area problem instead of the router. With 850L I could get only about 250Mbps up and down on 5GHz. With Asus AC86U I can max out my 500Mbps connection, up and down. Client is about 4m away from the router, line of sight.

QUOTE(spcx @ Mar 24 2019, 10:46 PM) High latency / ping and low speed, Ara Damansara. Getting only 16mbps on 500mbps.. Been a few days, and only during the night / peak hours. Central KL area, great numbers on speedtest.net to local server (>500Mbps), but terrible performance on streaming even SD live video from international sites. Seems to happen most evenings from around 8-10pm.

QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ Mar 26 2019, 07:50 AM) More subscribers now until they can't cope? That and I guess streaming services like Netflix and Amazon are taking a huge amount of international bandwidth in the evenings.

WARNING: Potential scam masquerading as an official TIME offer to win a mobile.
I was browsing the internet this morning and a page with all of the familiar Time logos and colour schemes popped up in my PC browser - "Time customer reward program". Asked me to fill in a survey, for which I would get the chance to win an iPhone or Galaxy 9S for just the postage.
I filled in the survey and found I had won, a choice of an iPhone XS or an S9.Just have to pay the RM5 postage. Has to be a scam, right? The domain name of the survey page was mobilevl dot com.
I think Time should be informed.

Is there some general international connection problem? Google Play Store cannot download and YouTube videos will not play, both with Time and Digi mobile. Some other websites loading alright.
Local connection is fine according to Ookla speedtest.
EDIT: my friend on Maxis mobile has the same issue.

Anyone having trouble getting Netflix to load? I'm getting error code NW-2-5. Access to the rest of the internet seems fine. EDIT: Rebooting the ONU fixed it.
