1. No need, you have to pull LAN cable from 3rd floor to 2nd floor to install 2nd router as AP. Then pull another LAN cable from 2nd floor to Ground floor to install another router as AP to maximize the internet connection speed.

2. For your best experience, my best suggestion is pull cat6 cables from 3rd floor to 2nd and G floors. Then buy another two new gigabit routers to do as access points to extend your home wifi networks.
*
Cat 5 will be fine at gigabit rates over two floors, no need for 6.

Noted with thanks...last question I need to buy CAT 5e cable or CAT 6 cable?
*
Cat 5e is usually enough, but I highly recommend Cat 6.

260-300Mbps. Will not drop further after that.

Suggest you raise ticket with Asus Malaysia (https://www.asus.com/my/support/). It seems that your router's NAT acceleration may have a problem. Like mine, have to apply twice to make it work.
*
i google search, people claim for peak speed more than 100Mbps should leave NAT acceleration on, dont know how true it is

if is my router problem i still can buy new one, i just want to make sure will new Asus router have this NAT acceleration problem, because AC68U been used for 2 years+, i might consider change to better Asus biggrin.gif just worried the new model will have similar NAT acceleration problem

I have something to share. I still have about 10 months on my Unifi RM179 package contract but I want to save money by switching to the RM79 package.

I went to TM Point, waited for 2 hours before I was served. I was given 2 options:

1. Pay a RM200 penalty to downgrade without signing a fresh contract.

2. Sign a fresh two-year contract to have the penalty waived.

I chose to pay the penalty, since I will still save money.

When the frontline staff came back after obtaining the go ahead from her manager, she told me that they are waiving the penalty and I don't have to commit to a new contract.

Wow.
*
Actually, not sure if there should even be a penalty as you are going from 30M to 30M. Hopefully the penalty won't appear in your next bill. Also after the package has changed, check with customer service again about your contract, just in case they actually renew it.

Are you in high-rise and limited to 30M? Wondering if they tried to ask you to get the RM129 instead. Or offer to reduce your current package price like some other RM179 users got.

Did you ask about the quota for next year? They still cannot tell how much the add-on quota will be, if there is one.

Thru MCMC and also went to TM Point for expediting Turbo Upgrade

wifi? or LAN?
*
from Asus RT-86U router LAN port connected thru cat5e cable directly to switch and going to my PC.

But last time TM gave call to me after I was complaining thru MCMC, then on the phone the agent promised me will send technician within 2 weeks time for the upgrade and testing the equipment and she also promised me 800Mbps upgrade instead of 500Mbps. I was so confusing at that time and just kept quiet as I coming from 50 Mbps plan and just expect upgraded to 500Mbps only. Didn't hear 50Mbps user upgraded to 800Mbps though.

Anyways, will see next 2 weeks for TM technician to come and demand 800Mbps as promised

usually for renovation, all the wiring are using cat6 as minimum standard. They won't use cat5e.
You can request for cat6a or cat7 too if you like.

Anyone else on UNIFI experiencing completely borked connection quality to Australia this past few days?

Nearly a week ago it was pretty damn good (full 100/50 D/U and Low ping):-

Today its quite horrible:-

Both speedtests were done using the Telstra Perth server. I would appreciate it if others can replicate the tests, thanks.

Nothing really but it usually represents the best case scenario for Australian connections amongst all the speedtest servers i've tested in the past with regards to ping.

I play WoW on the ozzie realms so this is kinda relevant to me lol.

Cat 5e, not Cat 5 which only supports 100Mbps. Cat 6 price is not that different than Cat 5e.

Nope, that adapter performance is right on the spot.

I went to tm point to enquiry about changing plan, they gave me the following 2 options
1) terminate my current 30mbps package then get a new 100mbps package
2) convert my current package to 100mbps
O
For option 1, need a new port at my area. But it is not available. As such, they say better don’t terminate.
For option 2, they say I need to buy my own router.
Anyone here have the same situation like me?.

That’s expensive bro. You could have got the DIR-878 for RM445 online, which is a better router than the DiR-867.

If you buy online, it will usually be cheaper than buying at the physical shops. TP-Link Archer C7 v5 is only RM365 online. See here: https://shopee.com.my/TP-LINK-AC1750-Dual-B....180984.4448365
*
Yeah but It's my father who wants it since it's for business. The DIR-878 is great but will only get turboed for 100Mbps 😅 so i think DIR-867 will do the job. But the problem was it can't be configured on Chrome and can only be modified on Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Thanks for the suggestions.

It is not wrong. That is the max link speed, and not real-life link speed. If you want better 5GHz connection, refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text, and get a router that can support the 500Mbps speed.

Just get your own router. Honestly, their stock router is crap. Get your own. I suggest the TP-Link Archer C7 b5 or Tenda AC18.

That's too bad, but fair enough. If your dad is using it for business, he should get the Asus BRT-828, which has business features. D-Link 867 for business use is really not that good.

Take option2, their router isn't that good to begin with.
