Just wonder if TM is throttling torrent on its new Unifi 30Mbps and 100Mbps subscribers, other than those Turboed users, since the current Unifi packages are basically turboed-services.
*
Recently "downgraded" from 30 Mbps (RM139) to 100 Mbps (Rm129)

I'm experiencing some wild speed fluctuations on some of my torrents, so I assume there is some throttling going on there. The speed reaches the theoretical maximum of 12.5MB/s for a bit, then swings down to 3MB/s and then back up to 10-12 MB/s, up and down, leading to an average of about 6-9 MB/s for the entire duration.

I did not see this behaviour on the old 30 Mbps plan. The speed would go up to 3.5 MB/s and stay there for the whole torrent, flat lining the entire time.

Not too bad, can still get huge files within reasonable amounts of time.

It makes me wonder if those 800 Mbps/500Mbps folk can even get the full speed for torrenting.

Did TM give u a new router? I've just requested to 'downgrade' from 50Mbps (been turbo-ed to 500Mbps last Saturday).
*
Nope. I just got Unifi installed in July however, so the equipment is already up to date (DLINK DIR842 MIMO router and Fiberhome Gigabit capable ONU) and no equipment change is required.

The DIR 842's WIFI range is quite amazing compared to the older TP Link 1043 ND router I had with DD-WRT firmware which i used for Stimyx.

Can even get coverage out on my street in the car. I was quite surprised. The WIFI speed however is nothing to write about, but considering that i'm only able to get up to 100 Mbps until they officially announce new and faster packages, it is of no concern to me at the moment.

Lol, why do you even compare the DIR-842 to the very old and not fit for use TP-Link 1043ND modem router? It is not even in the same league. Its Wifi range is honestly not that amazing. If you want a router that is amazing, try the TP-Link AC3150 v2 or the Asus RT-AC86U, then you will know the definition of 'amazing'.
I'll look into those when i eventually go for higher speed packages in the future. My main PC is hardwired to the DIR 842 so wireless coverage is secondary.

I've just been on that ancient TP-Link router for so long that my perception of what constitutes normal coverage for a WIFI signal is rather skewed lol.

did u return ur STB?
If you came from a package with an STB already provided you don't have to return it. In fact can continue using even on the RM129 plan.

Do you get any stable speed when download a big file ? say 10GB....what transfer rate do you get over 100mbps ?
On normal http downloads the maximum 12.5MB/s can be sustained for the entire download with no issues but it is highly dependent on the server location.

I find that some of the best and consistent free servers to test sustained speeds are Google Drive servers and the NVIDIA driver server. NVIDIA's in particular ramps up to maximum speed immediately.

i just went to TM Point in Bandar Perda (Penang Mainland) to change my recent 30mbps bonanza plan RM139 to RM129 100mbps std plan RM129..

After i go home and my connection been upgrade to 100mbps without any equipment change.. No penalty charge, just renew my existing contract back to 24months..

Benefits of doing this change: get 100/50mbps from 30/10mbps immediately, get 600minutes free call to Mobile&Fixed line.. after that, free call to Fixed line.. save another rm10++ (My parent called rm40 per month)
*
I was in your exact same situation and did the exact same thing. I highly recommend others to do the same, especially if your UNIFI contract only started recently (mine only began in July and I moved up from 30/RM139 to 100/RM129 in September so whats another 2 year contract.).

You have nothing to lose, and if you don't do it you may have to wait a damn long time for something that (at this rate) may or may not come until next year at the earliest. It seems like TM has over promised and under delivered with regards to the Turbo project once again.

Just had a chat with live chat, no other options we have, only RM129 100mbps at the moment.

Anyway, how's the 800mbps? is it underutilised? would like to hear more from other users of the 500/800mbps users. smile.gif
*
I can't speak for the 300/500/800 mbps users, but my own experience moving from 4 Mbps Shitmyx (for 8 damn years) to 30 Mbps/RM139 (2 months) to 100 Mbps/RM129 "upgrade" has been quite mindblowing to say the least.

In just 2 weeks I've already run out of things to download lol.

When your line can get around 1TB per day, your download to-do list gets shrunk down really, really fast.

149 (5mbps) -> 149 (10 mbps free upgrade) -> 139 (30mbps, contact ended so I switch plan on  March 2018) -> get turbo-ed 300mbps on October 2018

Gratz!

People like you are in the best position right now.. contract starts this year, turbo obtained this year itself.

Waiting time from announcement only 2 months plus you already had the best price for 30 Mbps before this.

Hi, i'm sure you heard the news on drop in broadband prices. currently, TIME is providing 1gbps for RM199, this is roughly the same as the 500mbps package from UNIFI. Have contacted Unifi CS, seems that they do not have any plan to match TIME. Am wondering if anyone else is in this same situation and what is the general opinion that you would do? eg. switch to TIME, lodge official complaint to UNIFI, sit quietly and grumble.. smile.gif

Thanks.

Move to TIME, what are you waiting for lol.

How many seeders available for the torrent?

Torrent download speed is highly unique to each torrent, highly dependent on the number of available seeds and peers for each torrent.

No speed guarantees available for torrenting unless you use a seedbox or a private site with good seeders.

Hi guys,

Need some input and opinion about this.
I just got Turboed to 300Mbps from 30Mbps.

TM provided me D-Link DIR 850 router from the day i signed for 30Mbps plan.
Now here is my concern, connected to 5Ghz WiFi got me 200Mbps from speedtest.
Not even able to hit 250Mbps on LAN cable (Cat5e).
Here is my setup :
BTU unit & DIR 850 router stationed in living hall ground floor (landed house) > connect to Powerline bridge connection to upstair Powerline (same model TP Link AV500)> Asus RT-N12 WiFi router (only 2.4Ghz)

The speed i'm getting from Asus Wifi router (2.4Ghz) even much slower around 20-30Mbps  mega_shok.gif

Question :
1) any possibility can be done on D-Link DIR 850 settings to improve speed?
2) would it better replace D-Link DIR 850 router with other better Dual band router? (eg. Asus/TP Link) ?
3) if i'm replace downstair D-Link DIR 850 with another better router, can i swap my upstair Asus RT-N12 router to make it both floor covered by Dual band router?
*
The bolded is the issue right there. Powerline connection should not be used with UNIFI Turbo.

I'm assuming you did the wired speedtest using the router connected to the upstairs Powerline adapter.

If so retry again using the downstairs router that has a direct connection to the BTU for more accurate results.

Thanks for that site man, but for certain addresses (including my own, which I know for a fact is already using Unifi) I get the following:-

CODE

error DEAI-BUSINESS_ERROR-003
message MSR rules failed

What does it mean?

QUOTE(hannchua @ Oct 14 2018, 12:38 AM)
Also throttled. For a single torrent, it slowly climbs to 24MBps and hovers there... However, when downloading multiple torrents, it reaches maximum 32-34MBps. Testing for a few days already... Before the upgrade from 100(Thank you surprise) --> Turbo 800Mbps, I noticed that the upload speed of the peers were different than after the upgrade. After the upgrade, every seeder's upload speed was the same and increased slowly and constantly... Someone double check on this...

*Using tixati
*PHD
*
In heavily populated torrents with loads of seeders (e.g. new episodes of Anime), the speeds i notice climb to beyond 10 MBps and then tend to fluctuate between 7-12 MBps, creating a saw-like patterned speed graph. Currently on the 100 Mbps/129 plan. And yes, the speed was a lot more consistent when I was on the older 30Mbps/139 plan, more like a flatline graph at 3.3 MBps.

Oic, so that means that my address has reached the maximum allowed number of Unifi subscriptions due to a lack of ports? Thanks for that link!

I received SMS saying that I've been "turbo-ed" last 2 weeks. I then checked Care@Unifi apps and wow my speed now is 100Mbps. But when i tried the speedtest (after switching off the modem), I only get around 30Mbps download & around 40Mbps upload. Anyone here experienced the same?

My previous speed package is Unifi Lite RM129 10Mbps.

TQ!

Test again with wired connection. Sounds like you are on 2.4 GHz wifi with those speeds.

Hmm something strange happened this morning to my connection...

The PPPOE and TEL connection dropped for 15 minutes early this morning and when it resumed my speed went up by a little bit, but noticeably so...

Usually I would get the following consistently:-

Seems like they recapped me to 110 Mbps/55Mbps I think or could just be a placebo effect. I'm not so sure lol.

Hey guy, wanna to ask you all..

I receive a call from TM free upgrade to me Unifi 10mbps with 88/mth..
And I plan to maintain my fixed line (streamyx) house number..
Is it can request them maintain the number and move to Unifi fixed line?

TM teams seems like it's depend case by case.. But if cannot maintain, no choice must use new fixed line..

Does anybody experience or wanna to maintain the old house number and move to unifi fixed line (which use back old number)?
*
They can do it for you at no extra cost.

I did the same thing when I moved from 4Mb Streamyx to 30Mb Unifi in July this year.

As an added bonus you don't have to pay for the copper line anymore if it gets migrated to the fiber. You will get a DECT phone to use with that new package as well.

Found a setting which is causing most Turbo users to get slow torrent speeds, on uTorrent at least.

Should I share it here, or post a new thread. Or both. (May help users on other ISP)
Or not at all.  unsure.gif biggrin.gif

That much connections gonna overload his line with a lot of transport overhead
A note for all :

NAT Boost/Acceleration or CTF doesn't work for UDP based protocol (µtp) for many routers.

Maybe you guys wanna disable µtp too.
*
I'm a bit confused about utp, does it help to circumvent the torrent throttling mechanisms in place by the ISP, or is it just to prevent congestion on your LAN while you're torrenting?

Is torrenting faster with utp on or utp off?

Back in ancient day, Protocol Encryption and µTP were used to bypass throttling until DPI came to ISP rescue. dry.gif

But the problem is = UDP routing performance tends to be ignored by most router manufacturers.

Example: for old TP-Link C5

https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wi...howall=&start=1
Scroll down to Routing Performance Section, take a look on WAN to LAN for TCP and UDP.
*
Disabling utp caused the download speed to surge and nearly cap out my 100Mb line for the Cent OS torrent!

user posted image

The download graph is more consistent too with less spikes overall!

Highly recommended move.

Dear sifu, not sure can i ask this question here,
Whenever my torrent speed peak, i will instant dc from my computer internet, router and modem no prob because my wifi still working.
Is like the high speed transfer broke something in my pc. Any solution?
I need to restart my computer so the internet will working again
*
Sounds like your network card cannot cope with with torrent traffic. Have you tried to update your network card drivers?

Are you using wired or wifi on your pc? Highly recommended to torrent on a gigabit wired connection for best results.
