Using a notebook cooler to keep both router and BTU cool at all times.
Blue glow is a bonus.

yea, that's why i am baffled and i ask around .

Oh yes, should i set 40 , or 80Mhz for 5Ghz?
*
Hard to say why but I think in time you'll figure it out.

For 5Ghz, set to 80Mhz channel width for max speed.

Not sure how but I never had any heat issue since migrating from the ADSL modem+router combo from Streamyx era. My current router is so cool as if its not power on. No fan or any active cooling solution in the room most of the time.

Haha. Yeah.
But out of sight, out of mind. Haha.
Thinking of using washing machine extension house to manage the cat cables and the HTIB speaker cables.

Yesterday I tested the speed on 4x Unifi 800Mbps account (all at the same building but different floors)
I use UGREEN USB3 to gigabit ethernet adapter (link here on lazada) since my laptop only comes with fast ethernet.
the relevant laptop specs;
i5 4210
8GB ddr3l ram
240gb ssd

Router used, yes for all 4 accounts
Draytek Vigor 2130n (it's a product released in 2010 or so)

Cable used to test on my laptop: Unitek CAT6 20m

However on all 4 accounts, the max speed that I could get was around 720Mbps
I'm wondering if this is due to using the ugreen adapter, or the dated Vigor 2130n or just the line being not stable since it's the so called pilot phase
I notice during each speedtests it would hit past 500Mbps quickly before slowing a bit.
Had to try a few times to get that max figure, but the speed never dipped below 500Mbps.
Unfortunately for now I have no other device to test with sweat.gif

or could it be the cable being too long? hmm.gif

Self made attachment for the wall mount screw holes at the back of router.

That bracket is made from old computer case metal part rivet to the case for HDD and CDRom.

Note that using converters like USB 3.0 -> Ethernet may introduce some overhead icon_idea.gif

Might want to try using a newer machine with Gigabit Ethernet built-in icon_idea.gif

There might be a CPU bottleneck too - JohnLai may be able to explain this hmm.gif

Hi, anyone here use asus rt-ac68u router with unifiturbospeed? My unifi speed is 500mbps. But somehow, my speedtest from router directly to my PC using cat5e is only 300mbps. The lan cable is not issue here, bcoz same cable is used on dlink router, and i manage to get 500mbps speed
*
Hi, apparently, i have some issue with the firmware tomato shibby on my asus ac68u. That is main reason why speed is capped at 300mbps. After flashing with other firmware merlin, speed now can achieve 500mbps.

May I know the make and model of the Ethernet cable? (CAT5e cable) hmm.gif
Also, if possible, provide a product link of the cable hmm.gif

All you need to do is to write the text printed on the cable itself icon_idea.gif

Might be an issue of copper-clad aluminum (CCA) Ethernet hmm.gif

The make and model of your BTU (modem) and the router also helps too icon_idea.gif

My story of requesting upgrade to 800mbps:
My bill is out and it is RM219 per month with no discount like some member here mentioned.

Called 100, select other inquiry, select unifi.
Ask CS why my bill is RM219 and 100Mbps is now RM129 only.
He said can transfer me to billing as he is technical.
I asked him if he can put an Turbo upgrade request for me, he said can.
Realized it is so fast downloading iOS 12, check and upgraded 10pm just now

EDIT: Add speedtest
