Just put on bracers with Dr Khor from Ooi & Khor in Kota Kemuning..
I chose the self-ligating bracers..
But the problem is i'm not feeling the totally unbearable pain..
is it normal?
And what are you guys daily oral care?
Do you all brush your teeth after every meal and only use specific type tootbrush?

Thanks..

My experience with damon braces braces also the same. I only feel "tight" at the teeth (no such terrible pain, except if biting into solid food on the 1st week of after adjustment sweat.gif ). So, I considered your experience quite normal.

For daily care, I brush teeth after every meal (using normal toothbrush, then interdental toothbrush to brush between bracket). And for before sleep routine, I also floss and gargle with mouthwash.

initially, brush after meal. later, i brush only brush twice a day
after meal, just gargle and clean with tap water

normal toothbrush.. i started with 6 years old toothbrush (soft and small), then change adult toothbrush (very soft - Colgate/ Systema/ whatever brands as long as it "soft" or "extra soft") and now using a charcoal Darlie toothbrush (soft)... remember to change your toothbrush every two months and i can observed that there are vast improvements when using different types of toothbrushs - personal opinion.

pains are normal.. and we have different level of pain tolerence

i just used whatever brands available in the market - darlie, colgate, systema except oral-b
even the cheap and hard toothbrush from the hotel for two weeks.. just try whatever available because different pressure needed to stimulate our gums.. do bite/chew (it is an exercise to your gum)

saw yr post - "installed" in april, it may takes another 3-4 months
did your ortho extract any of yr teeth(s)?

I think it's normal, I don't feel unbearable pain either. Only that it is tight and difficult to chew... I am always the last to finish my meal! Also it is a little hard to chew a couple of days after adjustment but it doesn't last long.

I brush twice a day only.... Sometimes during weekends when I have mood I brush an hour after lunch! Only rinse with water after lunch. But I do only use oral b's orthodontic toothbrush.... Can get from caring pharmacy XD

For me, it is incremental, but once all teeth moved into position, it's just feeling great after that...
i have teeth growing at 4th month (surprised at the age of 31), and the dentist just wait and see how and which way it "grow"

oh wow..
that's unique lolx.. my dentist did not tell me to pull out any teeth and did not let me know if i have any wisdom tooth.
Should i assume that i do not have it as wisdom tooth should be quite apparent in the x-ray right?

Wow ! Been away from this thread for sometime due to busy working schedule ~ All the old bracer still active ? How are you all ~ biggrin.gif

I just roughly view last few pages, and I would like to give little advice to those new comer and looking to get some advice to wear braces. Hope to give few cent of idea.. Remember, choice still on your hand. It is a info exchange forum. biggrin.gif
Personally, below are the criteria I look into:-

1) Doctor experience - This is the first thing you should look into.. if the doctor had been done thousand of case, received lot of certificate and recognized etc or not....
Why ? Because you can rest assure that your result will be the best for sure with a high experienced doctor.

2) Professional of Service - A good doctor will never ever talk bad about other doctor. Once I heard the doctor said so, I personally feel the doctor not professional enough to serve me tongue.gif

3) High-tech equipment - I am a person who like / believe the latest technology do help a lot... That's why I choose Damon system for my braces last time. (Nowadays, there is a choice for people who want convenient, can eat food easily and not so obvious to let people know you are align your teeth, then can consider a product called Invisalign. )

lastly, pricing..I just need to ensure the charges is reasonable/average prices will do. (after you look for above 3 requirement, sure you can't find a cheap prices of service. tongue.gif) However, once the clinic allow for installment, then I just need to know how much I need to pay per visit under the installment skim. That's why I put the prices consideration on the last... Skillful & experienced of doctor is the upmost important to me because it is talking about few thousand ringgit..since already going to pay for few thousand, why not seek for real experienced doctor ?

The location of clinic shouldn't put into consideration, as it will limit you to source for real good orthodontist.

Now, those who had read my post back to few years, should get more understand why I choose dr how clinic. You will surprise to see the clinic but the treatment charges is not expensive. Like all the doctor there..opsss, a bit sound like advertise.. But it is real high recommend from my heart la ~ biggrin.gif

Last Saturday I received a good news from Dr. Rueban that I am going to debond soon! Since first transfer on last October till now, it is 8 months and I am looking forward to get rid of my braces life. So far I am happy with the overall outcome but having a small request to make a minor adjustment for perfection.

Reading kentcp's advice, I have been going through braces' adjustments in two different places and wearing braces for more than 3 years. Yes, same advice here, visit a few clinics for comparison, do some homework and make your own decision. The most important thing is communication, share your expectation with the doctor during first consultation, ask more questions to clear your doubts. To me, Dr Rueban is friendly and professional, but his patience is the key that I found him special.

I encourage Bracesians to share your experience here and not just limited to Dr. How or Dr Rueban. I am interested to know your experience from other doctors as well, as I am thinking for a second adjustment after 10 years.

Dr how in bangsar did have a good reputation. But ever since he started expanding his business i think his quality of work and conscience is compromised.
