Hi ilovechoc, I'd done before, everything ok and ate as normal, just to make sure taking antibiotic on time.
Hi minki, I don't know Dr Kam, but personally I'd suggest to choose a doctor who can pay full attention on you and a doctor you think you are comfortable with. No matter how professional a doctor is, if he is too busy and ends up other doctor did the review for you, I don't think you will have good feeling..

QUOTE(mataharih @ May 18 2013, 12:07 PM) Hi Ouchie, I've been to both orthos so if you'd like more info than what I'm giving right now, feel free to PM me. First went to Dr How in 2010 and he seemed jovial in the beginning but he didn't fully explain his treatment plan with me. I may be in the minority who wasn't pleased with his treatment since other people on this board were happy with their results, so please bear in mind that this is just my experience and not something that should deter you from making your own decision. Dr How also pushed extractions on me even when I wasn't really sure about it and his bedside manner was quite rude. Rushing through the treatment due to the high number of patients he sees, rough when changing brackets, not explaining things in detail and handing me off to his assistants when he expanded his clinic to join up with the Beverly Wilshire group. I hated the way my teeth were pushed back into my face, causing an 'older, thinner' face. Oh yeah, I complained to the new office manager and she said she'll bring this up with the doctor and never got a call back from that office. Wasted RM6000 there. I didn't think they really cared about me as a patient there. I hated my results and transferred to Dr Reuben who I can say is so much nicer and willing to talk to you about the treatment and most importantly, he asks about your opinions and what you'd like the outcome to be. I'm seeing an improvement in my profile and my teeth looks far better than it ever did before. The office staff are nice and pleasant. Oh and my teeth doesn't hurt when Dr Reuben adjusts them. Price wise, I think they're both more or less the same, Dr Reuben may be cheaper by a few hundreds. PM me if you want more info, yeah? Hi Mataharih, I felt the same especially after the clinic has expanded and Dr seldom did the review anymore and handed me over to his assistant. But he checked my progress first and told his assistant what should be done before review started. May I know how you switch your treatment to Dr Rueban? Did you pay all over again as you have already finished the rm6k instalment? Looking forward for your reply, thanks! This post has been edited by iluvkukumaru: Oct 9 2013, 12:33 AM

I have just transferred my treatment last Saturday and quite shocked to know that my teeth doesn't look good even after wearing braces for more than two years. Dr told me it seemed to be done by non-specialist and this was rarely happened. I might have to go through re-adjustment for more than a year to have better result. I feel angry and disappointed as I expect to de-bond within this year although I can see my teeth are really not well aligned. I feel the past two years were wasted, money does matter but most important is time, as two years are long enough for a non-severe case. So far I am quite happy to the first treatment with this new Dr as he looks friendly, patient and I don't feel painful at all when he was adjusting my brackets. He told me that he has lots of transferred patients recently and wondering what happened.

My second treatment with Dr Rueban was on last Saturday since transfer. The pink sofa was occupied by few patients and I just waited outside for my turn. Recently, Dr is seeking for opinion to setup a new branch due to limited space, which seems to be a briliant idea to accomodate more patients. Feel free to leave feedback @ http://www.whitesmile.com.my/board/bbs/boa...g4_news&wr_id=7While waiting for my turn, I observed around and almost all furnitures and deco are in pink and white, which are my favourite colors. Dr helped me to change wire and told me I should be able to see some improvements by CNY. He told me Daemon 3 was no longer manufactured, so just be careful and tried not to break it. This reminded me that I have really been wearing braces for long (more than 2 years), since Daemon 3 was new at that time. I am really looking foward for debond by end of next year.

Last Saturday was my forth treatment with Dr Rueban since transfer. As usual, he greeted me (and almost every patient he saw) when I stepped into the clinic. It came to my turn within half an hour, which was really fast.
Dr helped to change wire for pushing out my teeth and let me chose the power string in different colors. Previously I chose BLUE but seemed weird as told by my colleagues. So this time I'd rather go for transparent, but be prepared as it might turn yellowish after some time, as told by Dr.
I can see improvement after few visits. Some ulcer here and there but already used to it after all these years. I really like the decor there, and even the napkin is in PINK, which is my favourite color.
Looking forward for my next visit.

Last Saturday I received a good news from Dr. Rueban that I am going to debond soon! Since first transfer on last October till now, it is 8 months and I am looking forward to get rid of my braces life. So far I am happy with the overall outcome but having a small request to make a minor adjustment for perfection.
Reading kentcp's advice, I have been going through braces' adjustments in two different places and wearing braces for more than 3 years. Yes, same advice here, visit a few clinics for comparison, do some homework and make your own decision. The most important thing is communication, share your expectation with the doctor during first consultation, ask more questions to clear your doubts. To me, Dr Rueban is friendly and professional, but his patience is the key that I found him special.
I encourage Bracesians to share your experience here and not just limited to Dr. How or Dr Rueban. I am interested to know your experience from other doctors as well, as I am thinking for a second adjustment after 10 years.

QUOTE(burburbery @ Oct 21 2014, 10:00 PM) I was promised that he would handle my case personally. But dr how does not do braces anymore. It's by some young dentist. Not even orthodontist. And I'm 26months down my treatment. Not just the lower jaw is terrible. The whole smile is crooked. burburbery, I am so sorry to know your experience exactly the same as mine. My case was not really serious. Because of not being handled personally and handed over me to other doctors, it took me more than 2 years and the result was not satisfied. Yes, eventually I changed clinic and continued my treatment with Dr. Rueban, but imagine the money I have spent (so far I have spent additional RM2790 after changing doctor), the time (took me more than 3 years in total) and the material costs keep increasing (Dr. Rueban charged me RM300 for de-bond and RM700 for retainer). If I could de-bond earlier, I wouldn't have to spend that much. Gals and guys, we are here to share our experiences and please...please think twice and choose a right doctor who can attend your case personally. Kentcp, you were very lucky. Dr. How attended your case personally few years back and you didn't have to go through the pain we had. We are just telling the fact, there is no point for us to waste our time writing long article and just to bad mouth him. I hope you can spend at least a second, think about why we said so and be fair to us.
