Haha hope so, hopefully will be in 2nd batch la, not so long later. I purposely ditch installation on auto tag on my new car and didn't get a smart tag coz i waited for this. Now gotta stick to touch n go card. Sooooo inconvenient for short people like me to reach out and scan the card. dry.gif

if am not mistaken, it won't work as it is link to your TnG eWallet.

oh no, after reading the FAQ:

What happens if I do not terminate my RFID Tag after selling off my vehicle?
The toll fare will be deducted from your Touch 'n Go eWallet account even though the vehicle is been used by the new owner. Touch 'n Go will not compensate the deducted toll fare if customer failed to request Touch 'n Go Careline to terminate his/her RFID Tag.

This is not good, if the RFID is stolen by someone and use by another car. sad.gif

So, we have to terminate the RFID immediately once we notice it is stolen, else it will continue to deduct from our eWallet?

I am confused, even though the RFID is registered to the user and vehicle, but how the reader going to identify the car plate number? What I mean is, when it is stolen, and stick to another car, will the reader know the car plate number and the registered car plate number with the RIFD tag is different?

yup, so the app must make it easy for us to end it...i dunno how yet since i haven install, and the app not yet activate the part for RFID
so during pilot phase... if reload no additional charge, don load too much in it first...

No, the reader only identify the RFID sticker, not the car IINM. That's why u need to terminate it ASAP if it is stolen.

the RFID only register to the TnG eWallet, not the car.
don think it is so high tech to even recognise car plate n RFID owner together.

By the way, I saw this from the other topic too, those who got email mentioned first batch were full, can register manually, provided you've installed touch n go app and have a valid account.

Done install and got activation sms within 30 min
Waiting tml when go work then test

Also clarified few things
For those install other owner car
IC copy is yours, not the owner
So what u will need is
Your own ic copy
The copy of the car VOC/grant
The authorization letter by owner

PT have a video on it. They reckon that 100k have applied for 10k test units.

Also, since you have to go through the smart tag toll gate, it's still worse than the system that Singapore has been using for the past 20 years. sad.gif

they collected it, but i am thinking to ask again when doing for 2nd car...
as collecting SPI should be bound by PDPA, and there is no such communication in FAQ nor RFID page
something they should thought to improve on...
but yes, multiple copies IC needed as per each vehicle fitment i assume, not effective
my thought is to use a MyKad reader and connect to a system to settle that would do...but again, they better make sure all parts comply with PDPA

You cannot compare our system with theirs. There, if you are caught (insufficient money in the cash card to deduct toll charge, defective card reader in the car, etc), their land transport authority will send letter to your house to either pay the toll charged plus penalty, or send your vehicle for inspection if the system does not detect your card reader in the car. You cannot ignore the letter because the consequence is severe - can be charged in court.

Here? Who is going to help TnG collect the unpaid toll if drivers do not have to go through toll gate and simply drive off? Issuing summon/letter won't work because people will just ignore it. If JPJ/polis summon can be ignored, what chance does TnG have in recovering the owed money?

Is the lane specially for RFID or shared with smartag? If you took out your smartag, how will you know which system will charge your toll?

Shared. Ummmmm because my car is tinted. Even my smartag only work at close distance with the window opened.

Btw theres no deduction made on rfid at all. I guess it was only a sign.

I already got my car fitted with the RFID sticker. Mine is applied to windscreen (top left) because my headlamp is covered with transparent film. Activation was done within 30mins but the sms came later. Can check the app for activation status.

Tested on MEX and KESAS highway. Need to be rather close to the barrier before detected.

The installer told me that it is up to the toll company to set which point the reader will scan/detect the RFID sticker.

During installation Today, the installer told me if both smartag & RFID together especially on a hybrid lane, they will deduct RFID 1st & skip smartag. If dedicated RFID lane, no need worry.

the installation is actually quite fast, my wait is just about 20mins and its done.

Need to submit the Scan IC and cover note documents to the counter and a TNG guy will approach you to activate your account by sending a Rm0.10 to you and you send back that Rm0.10 to a QR code account. Not sure if the activation can be done between 2 users
After that just wait for your name to be called for your turn to install. Installation process is quite straightforward where the installer will just rub alcohol on the headlight to clean the place of install and stick the RFID sticker. Installer test scan the sticker and sign a document and you are good to go.
Within the 24 hrs received an SMS towards my registered number and the App's RFID option will have your car plate there

I received notification via tng apps within 1hr! No need 24hrs. No sms received.

Both my car & 2nd car tried passing thru RFID lanes this Morning. No sound and no problem. Once reaching office, checked my apps and saw deductions and location of toll plazas. Great

Yes, I've tested numerous times at different toll plazas. The RFID will get detected first.

If you're using SMART Tag model OBU330, your SMART Tag will beep 3 times, indicating the transaction didn't go through.
Not sure about the newer black unit. hmm.gif

i got 2 RFID tag in car. somehow the system goes very slow on detecting which RFID is belongs to touch n go system. i always have to stop my car completely for them to open the boom gate.

1 RFID-  TnG  &  my other RFID tag is for my condo parking access.
*
Maybe can ask for your condo management to utilise TnG tag instead. hmm.gif

My biggest beef with RFID is that, knowing the toll booths, what happens if the RFID lane rosak?

Smart Tag lanes sometimes rosak, but at least u hv the backup option of using the manual TnG lanes.

With RFID, you will still need to keep ur TnG card as backup. Mafan.

Got it installed this morning and activated within an hour...

Hentam 2 tolls, can’t go much faster than SmartTag since the gantry and the barrier so close to each other...

Have to wait till full implementation of RFID-only dedicated lanes. Else it’s langgar lari till kingdom come...

Kinda feel like not going to be soon
Anyhow they may still consider leave the TnG device there in case of failure
The moment u have that there, even u change the banner to show that’s rfid lane, nobody f* care n will just use it to skip the TnG queue
Mentality problem

Not sure after full public launch though

I don't really stick to RFID lane 100%. I use whichever lane that has the shortest queue. Kinda defeats the purpose to queue long long when you have something else in the car that can skip the queue.

Why can't Malaysia enforce the law?

Simply because it is not regulated. Tolls belong to concessionaires, which are privatized. No thanks to Mahathir's era unfortunately. Why would Govt spend money for JPJ/Police to enforce collection?

Now, if Govt buys back the highways, all toll collections goes back to Govt coffers. And in turn, they can have the funding to go after errant drivers.

Alamak.. they have FB RFID Group ke? I dont use FB.. Is there another centralized channel for reporting?
Yesterday got my first fail RFID scan at DUKE (Gombak exit heading towards Gombak; right most lane RFID+SmartTag Hybrid lane).

Another FYI if you are travelling on Kerinchi Link travelling from Federal Highway towards Sprint; take note that plaza B has a Touch&GO + RFID hybrid lane. It is the second lane from the left; directly next to the top up lane. The signage was damaged and was remove recently.

Man, all I see in the internet is that rfid sticker sticked on the outside of windshield glass or left headlamp. I went to install just now and found that there are two types of sticker. One is the type you all have seen and usually seen. Another is the one I will show you in pictures down below. That one is sticked inside the car windshield glass in the upper center region. I got that type because my car doesn't have tinted film on windshield glass.

I think it is much better and safer. So my advice to fellow without tinted film is get the rfid sticker inside the windshield glass and you can tint the glass later with cut out hole exactly for the sticker.

Anyone facing 'Baki Kurang' issue? Got my car installed the RFID last week, activated 2 hrs after installation, reloaded RM10 to e-wallet to test. Went to Bukit Raja toll(GrandSepadu), it detected but shows 'Baki Kurang' and gate not open, so I have to tng card to get pass the toll. Check my e-wallet RM10 still there and I tried to reload more, top up RM40 more and tried again but still same problem for few times d. Called CS but kept on telling me high call volume ask me call later.

Been using RFID since early this month.
100% success rate at dedicated RFID lane at Guthrie and Latar, but on combi RFID/Smart Tag lane at DUKE, I think failed about 4-5 times from about 30 passes

Maybe the question need refining. What if someone use rfid reader to read the sticker, and then replicate the signal. Theoretically we don’t need the physical sticker, just need the code it generates, which could be replicated, just like you need a rfid blocker liner for your wallet to protect your visa paywave signal.

Or just cabut your headlight as a whole, rmb the old times where headlights are easy to remove. Or just break headlight, then just take the rfid piece away.

Either of those ways u could cancel the rfid access to your realer pretty easy. Worse case they able to go though a couple of tolls. Could not use your ewallet direct at 7-11 with that sticker anyhow.

The danger is when your rfid signal is replicated, then you don’t know it was stolen and it could be slowly siphoned off without your knowledge.

I'm pretty sure the signal is encrypted. You can't clone RFID easily. I wouldn't be worried about it.

Or in another way of saying, each rfid tag connects to an e-wallet, when drive through toll, the toll scans your tag, does not tell how much balance is left, just request to deduct from your e-wallet, same goes for visa paywave. if I have a portable scanner to “deduct” from your tag when your car is parked in the mall or in your condo......

Replicate the rfid might be troublesome, but just rfid deduct rm 1 here and there.....many wouldn’t even trouble themselves to get new rfid ( not that it matters, still can steal the next day) more less do polis report.

Again, I won't be to worry about it. You can see all transactions in your e-wallet app.

The scenario that you mentioned is very unlikely. Can it be done? Probably. No system is perfect. Is it worth to do it? I don't think so.
Let's just say you manage to overcome all the technical issues and build your RFID reader to steal RM1 from one car each day. Then, what next? Transfer to your e-wallet? Even if the system allows it, it's just a matter of time before you get caught.

Pilot testing is within Klang Valley only at the moment, fitment centres are also all in Klang Valley only. Although I heard there are some tolls in the North has got RFID reader installed, you will still need to travel to KV to get your sticker installed at the moment.

AKLEH RFID support is seriously disappointing..

Putting it at the right most lane and the sensor is not detecting until I am within 2m of the barrier.

There is no difference between RFID and smart tag in this case.

I wonder how fast can the water droplet fully drop off when entering a short roof?

I wonder what is the study for RFID related to ambient temp and humidity?

and by any chance droplets of water might affecting it.

the engineers can either increase the strength of the sensor or add 3 sensors ( 2 out of 3 ) system to work on it.

or

increase the roof wider. shocking.gif rclxms.gif

i believe increase the sensing power is a better option. but increasing the sensing power might affect the lane next to it, well i guess again the engineer who write the program can add a block to that. I guess the system is not fully mature yet.

Judging by the current state of it, still not enough for mass release.

Yesterday evening at 6:30 pm, on DUKE Sentul Pasar extreme right SmartTag/RFID lane, it failed to detect my RFID.
Drove at 10km/h and complete stop at the barrier, still failed.

Luckily the toll girl was at the next lane and she told me that it is always a problem to detect RFID at DUKE Sentul, so had to tap my TnG

Those pilot users in RFID FB page should be familiar with the phrase "DUKE Challenge" already biggrin.gif

*
same bro..previously i use duke sentul pasar tambahan exit.. the rfid detector is like OFF... so no detection.

next time if i need pass through that toll, i will use smarttag directly.. otherwise so embrassing

not yet...
PLUSMILES not integrated yet with RFID at the moment...

For info, TnG RFID at the moment is limited for open-toll system (LDP, BESRAYA, GrandSaga, DUKE, KESAS, MTD KL Karak, etc.) & not open at PLUS Highway yet (closed-toll system)...
PLUS toll can use RFID were at Jitra, Mambau, Port Dickson, Perling & etc. (pay upon reaching toll)...

If he purposely does it then that applies, but in this case got plausible deniability in the form of "eh I go tolls so many times where got keep track each individual one". At least for me with 2-5 tolls a day that would be the case la.

Just got my car installed with rfid.
1. Some toll shows "myrfid". some "rfid tag". Should be uniform, cause I believe it is the same.
2. What is the max speed you all achieved going through rfid? I am disappointed as I feel like need to go through slower than smart tag lane.

1. Different operators for different toll. Basically different crony company got it, so won't be uniform.

2. Depends which gate. Search history of this thread, some will open even before you masuk the area, but mostly you need to wait till you're about at TnG swipe range then it will start opening.

My wife got it installed the other day. The technician said to leave the smart tag on the windscreen as it will detect the RFID first and not every toll plaza has RFID yet. Yet today on the Duke from Kepong to KL, it deducted from the Smart Tag.

Should I remove the Smart Tag. I'm afraid of getting double charged.

That auto blog we can't mention tested, said that won't deduct from Smart Tag if you go through combo lane.

Of course I normally hide my smart tag since last last time first generation after all those smash windscreen to steal stories. Haven't had to take it out except to pay parking since installing RFID rclxms.gif

Dedicated RFID lanes don't have SmartTag sensor, but there are combo RFID/SmartTag lanes like those used on DUKE highway.

The DUKE combo RFID lanes are well known issues that members of FB RFID group call it the "DUKE Challenge" and staff at DUKE toll plaza also aware of the issues.
As a daily user of DUKE highway, it is really a PITA that nowadays I just used my SmartTag instead of RFID bangwall.gif

I took the PM half off to get the RFID tag affixed to the head lamp.

Actually I heard, their standard SOP is to fix onto the head lamp, but you can always ask them to try placing it on the outer side of the windscreen to check if the RFID tag can be detected.

*
can you give me the dimension? need to cut out my tinted so that the RFID sticker can be install.
fitment centre wont stick the RFID at my headlamp because its tinted already.

Windscreen to consider.. inside Vs Thickness & Outer side Vs Windscreen slope.. already try to my wish ZGE20, inside couldn't detect coz of thickness.. Outerside can detect but at very2 closed range coz windscreen layout/slope to low..

I heard some hear-say, the windscreen mounted one are more sensitive that the ones on the headlights. Mine is on the headlights though and have only failed to detect like once so far.

Then again, I have only used the RFID tag a handful of times sweat.gif so I won't want to comment much.

Malaysian tolls have so many lanes with the best being smart tag or rfid in terms of traffic, but the touch and go dominance and problems in the usability of touch and go e wallet is a bother too.

In the US, there are no booths, rather just a roof with a ceiling full of cameras and transponders that can pick up vehicle transponders, license plates, colour, even driver face, and you get billed after. If someone tries to abuse the system llike fake plates/no plates the cops get notified automatically and wait for you on the highway.

Here in malaysia touch and go barely offers further benefit, unlike the UK variant oyster card that even though is required for transport, is cheaper than paying for a single ticket/trip seperately with daily caps so you cant spend more than some amount a day. I wonder who decided to implement RFID horribly. RFID is a fancy name but even the normal touch and go card has a RFID chip in it, otherwise it would not work when you try to scan it. The card itself and from what it seems the RFID sticker has its own chip in it that stores the cash inside, so it is actually hackable with no network to check and you get charged for topping it up (something other countries dont do) unless you top it up at touch and go's own places. What a country we live in.

Click into the RFID icon, if you can already see your car plate number, you can start using.

I’m a pilot tester as well. I feel the headlight and outside window sticker is not a good idea. However it is a current necessity as many cars already come with tint and as such, leave no room for this rfid to stick inside windscreen other than to cut a hole at mid above rear view mirror.

But alas, this is predominantly a testing phase. Good or bad will be judged at the end prior to full implementation. To me, who drove in many countries and used diff systems, the one in Dubai ( UAE) makes sense. When u buy new car, it already comes with rfid, no rfid cannot drive out of showroom. It also sticks inside ( u can apply for this in our rfid program but must cut a hole). This rfid also has your roadtax data, no stupid sticker. Jpj / Polis can scan data easily with device or phone with special software and hardware.

With this, no need sticker, no need toll booth as all cars will have rfid as it is also roadtax, no need smart tag. Then u get Rubbish reasons like :

I concur this! A lot of our country's settings is to our politician's favours. We need a privatised a company owned business so it can sustain but at the extreme expenses of people? Why don't we use simple which our neighbour country Singapore is using? Just need an ERP gantry, no need to queue for toll or make highway jammed during festive seasons? If talking about cost, it is a necessity for car, rather than setting these toll booths. I still believe the active rfid is better rather than cr** passive rfid. Well, this is Malaysia and this is how our "economy" developed. Some "great" idea like "yes, we can!" later really can, but the huge bill at our expenses. doh.gif

However, this is a good discussion to hold, active or passive rfid. Personally I have tried both, and I believe passive is better. With passive u have less components to connect in your car. Anyway, it is the responsibility of the collector to ensure they can read the rfid. As long as it is installed correctly without tampering, any error also could be escalated by cross checking with car plate( this is also need to follow certain font as per law, rmb last year one stupid mp say it is for our safety to follow the font specified for our car plate? The real reason is for more automated enforcement and toll collection [which is not a bad thing]).

I understand the reason passive rfid is being used, i.e.: if select active rfid, more components means higher cost. And probably for the majority of the users of the highway who can buy "petrol card", modify their cars is a burden. But good thing about active rfid is probably we do not need toll booths and manpower. Probably it is like any other projects in Malaysia, first we introduce some sub par standard systems, later we can improve and that is how we make the money rolls.

In fact passive rfid also don’t need toll booth, it can run on toll gantry just like active rfid (singapore erp). I even drove in Few countries with this passive rfid, just a square tag. No components connected and hence, no extra equipment susceptible to wear and tear.

Passive rfid means all equipment is on the gantry and not on your vehicle, imagine visa pywave or masterpass where your card (or your barcode product at supermarket) has no electronics connected, then the counter has a scanner that reads the card or barcode. All electronics are at the counter, all maintenance (when needed) are at the counter. Active rfid means each car need a device with battery/ connection to car battery which in turns means it needs to be bulky and runs all the time( unless it is smart tag where it will activate then run)

Just installed mine FOC on outer windscreen yesterday (didn't ask why it not on headlamp).
The registration is opened again, this is how I managed to get.

1. Get touch n go ewallet app on your smart phone.
2. Register here http://www.touchngo.com.my/html/preregisterrfid.aspx
3. Wait a few days, no one contacted me or anything.
4. Register and book an appointment to install here! https://rfidregister.touchngo.com.my/

Wait time for step 3 may be variant, if you can't wait, just keep trying step 4 every day until the system recognized you are registered pilot user from step 2. rclxm9.gif brows.gif icon_idea.gif

Update: If you didn't get RFID TAG activation SMS after 24 hours from installation time, call TnG and it should be activated in few hours time.

The first use is around 9am, and last use at 5pm...didnt have the courage to not topup when the actual mathematical balance at 11am is less than rm2

for the past 1 week started using rfid, below are the results on 2 cars:

car 1

grand saga batu 11 - failed
SILK sg long - failed
SILK bkt kajang - passed
LDP sunway - failed
besraya mines - passed

car 2 so far no issue. what i noticed is the sticker placement on windscreen on car 1 is higher than car 2..not sure if this determined the failed outcome..already reported to TnG and still waiting for their response

Anyone here used rfid on BKE highway (butterworth - kulim expressway). The put rfid signboard there, but when I went through at normal speed, nothing happens. I had to reverse the car and use tng card. Tried both way. It's like they put the signboard, but never install the rfid reader..

Yeah unfortunately they are different - PLUS's claim in future can directly link to bank cards, while TnG's is linked to its own ewallet.

If not mistaken, gov directive is that in future one car can only own one RFID - so we can't have both PLUS and TnG RFID on the same car...

Anyone here encountered thier RFID e-wallet account was being deduction although we didn't pass through any toll?

It's happened to me today. I tried to call the RFID customer care but the line is too busy. I emailed to them too and no response received.

Sometimes, the deduction may not happen immediately. Delay could be a few days

delayed transactions, means you use the lane, but the amount not deducted by the time you use the lane.
after certain period (hours, days, or weeks), the system reboots & update your e-wallet so that's why you receive the notification (got deduction but didn't pass any toll).

Today when I pass through RFID it didn't detect my RFID and barrier didn't open. So I reverse to try to go out and use another touchngo card. While reversing suddenly it manage to detect my tag and open the barrier. So I stopped my car to proceed. Suddenly the barrier closed and upon moving forward a little bit it detect my RFID and open the barrier again.

I am not sure if I am getting double charged for this. So I checked the transactions in tng wallet app and it shows only 1 transaction. Will I be charged another transaction later once they do the delayed transactions?

DUKE2 highway. Have to drive like 15km/h or less for the RFID to detect. Really lousy lah. Other country, they can implement it in highway. Even you pass at 80km/h it will detect your RFID. Therefore no bottleneck for congestion. mad.gif

Not just 80km/h , actually some countries have those that are rated at 180km/h. Toll collection is separate from speed enforcement in those case. Thus one of the main thing is for the car number plate to follow certain fonts for additional cams to take pic of and process automatically, not really ‘font size for our safety’ like what some stupid minister says.

Also ideally whole Malaysia must have this, then even car parks and road tax use this. Sounds too good to be true? It’s already implemented more than 5 years in afew countries. Unfortunately we need to ‘test’ this unproven tech with lab rats....

If only uncle Loke is more assertive.

It appeared to be the problem of their system problem.
So far I tried in LDP and KESAS all no problem.

It's strange that the installer agreed to fit on your tinted headlamp. Mine die² refused to do so, ended up sticking on outside of windscreen. It's supposed to be SOP to avoid people cutting off the tint film to transfer to another car, according to the installer.

QUOTE(System Error Message @ Dec 18 2018, 11:18 AM)

I've been washing my own car and the sticker is still there. Just don't go crazy washing the windows.

This is not an official answer, but I don't think you should use any layer on top of the RFID sticker.

I sold my car with RFID sticker last 2 weeks. I have been calling their CS to cancel my RFID account but kept telling me line is busy.

I even make it as loud speaker and let it be for 20 minutes. Called for 3 consecutive days but no one pick up. end up, I just cabut the sticker on my own.

One time I was double charged on my RFID and my smart tag when passing through the RFID/Smart Tag lane. When made report they said no double deduction. sad.gif

Now got new car, I don't want to install RFID. well, at least until they are stable or when they fully enforce it. sigh.

How does it double charge RFID and smart tag? You didn't hide you smart tag? So did they actually double charge you? You know you can check via online, right?

I passed through RFID/Smart Tag lane. I hid my smart tag. The RFID did not detect my RFID and the palang also not up. So I used my Smart tag coz I thought RFID rosak. Then when I checked, they double charged me.

Show it to them and ask for refund.

Strangely, same thing happened to me when initially using RFID. I drove too fast and RFID failed. So I thought RFID is spoil. I then reverse and use smarttag. Then RFID detected. So I thought I will be double charged. Later I check my transactions and found only charged once. I guess their system still not 100%. However, I do agree their RFID is lousy. Have to drive so slow only it get detected. Overseas has been using RFID in highways. You just drive at whatever speed and don't even know you passed a toll They just detect your car and charge accordingly. No congestion, no slow down, no issue. Why are they implementing like some 10 year old technology.

I made a report already and they said no double deduction happen.

I quite agree with you. I would prefer if Touch n Go upgrade the smart tag system and its device as it is already stable and most people already using it. and of course their ewallet.

I did email them (and attach the SS) then they replied by giving me a link of double charges online form. But...cannot attach file. They just ask you where it happened, TnG number card, when did it happen and which lane you were using when it happened.

Hi, wanna confirm, the place I stay have set up the rfid barrier.
I have TnG RFID installed.
The notice from my housing management said their RFID barrier will not work with other RFID(means TnG RFID). I not yet install for my housing one.

You guys tried installed 2 RFID before? Will it really interfere each other?

Thanks for the fast reply.
I guess I just have to follow TnG RFID's guideline, 5cm apart from other metal (in this case, the other RFID tag). Then should be no problem.

It won't interfere because the reader will read the valid tag and ignore the invalid/irrelevant tag. In your case it will read the condo entry tag and will ignore TnG RFID tag.

I have 3 RFID tags (TnG, house, office carpark) and I have no problem with either one.

Previously, before PKP they already in the midst of testing in live environment. Then because of PKP, all work stopped. Then middle of June they started testing again.

My estimate is that they will finish testing by 3rd quarter of this year. Roll out live? Don't know rclxm9.gif

I tell u la. RFID even at housing area also sucks.

Just received my self-fitment RFID purchased thru Lazada.
Wish to check anyone here with new Honda Civic fitted with RFID. Where is the preferred spot - front light or windscreen?
Just wonder the protruded chrome grill above the front light - will it effect the RFID sensor detection?
Also can i fit the RFID onto the windscreen if i am using V-Kool Elite?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

I am not sure if this will work but I would try sticking on windscreen first using transparent tape. If doesn't work, can easily remove and put it in headlight.

New Honda Civic with rfid here. Stick at windscreen, inside beneath rear view mirror. Cut a hole for the rfid . The inside rfid is not the transparent one u use. It’s the white square one.

The method is to install rfid, run a day or 2 through till to check whether it’s working with the normal windscreen without tint (as most cars already come with a degree of tint level). Then proceed with tint.

Did it at tyre shop, had to force them to use the white one as they worry it cannot pass toll. Then later had to force the tint shop to do tint over the rfid and cut a hole(cause tint uses soap water and they worry it will damage the rfid). Common as Malaysia shops never see how overseas do these.

Anyway, used it around tolls in selangor/ KL and up to karak no problem. Best thing is not worry about outside stone chips and vandals .

The one sticking inside is square white color ones while the one usually u see is the see through long strip that sticks outside.

I use the white square one.

Thanks. I never noticed there are 2 types of RFID sticker. The one that I recently bought from Lazada I think is the see through type so guess no choice only can stick on the front lamp.

why you DIY yourself? Wouldn't it be better to talk to TnG and get their help? 1st replacement is free. If you damage then most likely they will charge you to replace.

Or unless you really don't want to use RFID anymore?

I comment on TnG fb and they told me i have to buy and replace a new one. So i get a new one and get my existing one terminated, so the problem now is it is really hard to peel it off my headlamp. I don't want risk it with any sticker removal chemical that might make my headlamp blur. sad.gif

The RFID tag needs to be fitted at the upper left windscreen or the left headlamp, 5cm away from metal elements.

Main reason because that is where the sensor is setup to focus on.

If it was positioned elsewhere, the sensor might not be able to detect the tag successfully

I have installed rfid and resident area having rfid boom gate. Both are working fine.

Its external bro. Your tint is inside.
Unless...you plan to self stick inside, but even I have another RFID (non TNG) under a black tint also no issue.

now the problem with self fitment is that theres nowhere for you to try out and see if the location you stick is OK or not. Have to stick, and then try with real toll.

I stick on windscreen halfway up, above road tax area. Need to really go near the toll gate before RFID detected. No confidence at all.

Better get it done at the centre. I sent my cars for installation the other day. One of them won't detect at all when sticked on the windscreen. Also, if your car has long engine bay, don't stick at the windscreen. You need to drive up very near to the barrier before it detects your RFID.

Just fitted my honda city with RFID tag via a shop that is authorized to do tag fitment. The seller recommended to install at headlight, which i agreed.

Just want to ask, if heavy rain or if i bring my car to auto car wash or manual hand wash, will have possiblity to damage the RFID tag?

Omg same case bro.
I bought the self fitment RFID tag and followed every single instruction.

I checked the website where you register your RFID tag and few days later it shows as suspended.
But in TnG eWallet app, it shows as Active.

Im lost.

Guys,

I bought RFID tag from Lazada but the seller said do not install on windscreen with auto rain sensor. Some also said do not install on headlamp if it is tinted.

Both places are tinted on my car. How about yours? Where do you stick the RFID sticker?

Nothing to do with your phone, the RFID is read by the toll gate and gives your ID, then they will deduct from your eWallet (stored online in their system).

Your phone is just for you to view their online system, not holding anything.

Theres no toll setup in with RFID but exit no RFID.

If have entry with RFID, exit will be too. At least that what I observe. But I never face any difficulty with entry RFID but exit RFID lane down.

If have entry with RFID, exit will be too. At least that what I observe. But I never face any difficulty with entry RFID but exit RFID lane down.
*
What if enter toll using smartag/tng card exit toll rfid?

As someone suggest, I tried install inside the windscreen, and it works. You can test it out before fully install it.

How do you install inside the windscreen? How do you stick it to the inside windscreen? The rfid tag supposed to stick Outside the windscreen.

Yes, I know the tag should be installed outside the windscreen/headlamp. But feel less secure and cost money to install again if someone break it or remove it lol...

Initially I installed it with selefon tape to test at few toll booths with RFID scanner to see if it can scan through my windscreen tint or not then I only use transparent roadtax sticker to stick it. Test at your own risk lol.

So by sticking a transparent road tax sticker to stick the rfid, so far so good? So you don’t peel out the rfid right?

Can somebody answer this. Planning to install it too.

Let say I enter toll A with rfid, but exit toll B dont have rfid lane yet, only smart tag available. So how aa?
*
I think currently, rfid is only present at toll booth where you only need to pay once. Thus, there is no entry / exit point.

Tngsb is still working with major highway operators to implement rfid with entry and exit points such as PLUS highway. Last I heard, it should be available by this year but probably the pandemic may have delayed the implementation.

Just to add some information, I had polished my car headlamp earlier this year (Jan 2020). Covered the rfid with masking tape and sanded the headlamp before removing the tape to spray primer and 2k clearcoat. To date the rfid still working fine and never fail to detect at toll. But no guarantee since its my own experience smile.gif

I don't think so. Previously we have to key in our car model & plate number when activating RFID.

Should be registered to one vehicle to prevent theft.

The sticker is also designed to be easily damaged during removal (also to prevent theft).

You need to call TnG customer service and ask for RFID customer rep. It can't be done by app or e-mail. Hope this helps.

Definitely reliable, it's been on my car for around 2 years. I was testing on Sungai Besi Expressway RFID/Smarttag lane last week and it still works smile.gif

You buy it and install on the left headlamp or left side on the outside windows. I have it on the left side of my windows outside. My only comment is try to never peel the sticker or scrub the area when you wash your car.

Sticking on the outside of the Wind screen is way too dangerous, as there is dirt and Car Wash Center might accidentally wipe it off.
Can't it be stick on the inner side of the Wind Screen?

I used the sticker and placed it inside my car windscreen. So far so good no issues. Also installed it on a Honda City eHev.

You can try it first. Put a clear plastic to secure the rfid sticker to the windscreen. Drive through a toll plaza if it works then good. However my car tint is JPJ compliant. If your car tint is darker you may have problem.

Can try. You will lose a bit of RF signal strength a bit. The transmitter at the toll booths are not the same. Some you may have problem and some no problem even with sticker on the outside. Then you have to drive slowly and person walking laugh.gif

Dark or light tint does not affect the RF so much signal but the material used in tinting does. Those using metallic particles will reflect the RF signal until even stick on the outside also cannot work.

For MyVi with built-in card reader, it will be a problem if you go through lane that support both RFID and SmartTag, right?. At least not many separate lane exclusive for either one. Even with separate RFID and SmartTag lane, I find I can drive way faster through SmartTag lane than the RFID laugh.gif

Not a problem. The RFID tag is passive device. It gets its power from the transmitter and reply back to transmitter. If you transmit high power, then the transmitter can cover all lanes probably and then capture all the car RFIDs that go through the toll, of course without boom gate. However, probably they do not want to waste money on finding those passing through toll without payment like cars having fake number. Therefore, they still implement boom gate. So each line has dedicated gate. Since we still have TnG and Smart Tag with boom gate concept, it is another reason probably need to have RF transmitter for each lane. In order to prevent transmitter receiving other lane signal from RFID, they have to turn power down. This affect the sensitivity of the RFID detection. Therefore need to slowly drive through, I believe.

The good thing about the RFID is that you can top up your e-wallet through phone, unlike TnG. They said want to toping up TnG also through phone but already passed implementation date. I guess TnG will also live online with e-wallet.

use IPA, dilute with water. But limit the exposure to the sticker part only, IPA is harsh on plastics, but since you're only wiping it should be fine.

Spray a bit and use a plastic/old credit card to scrap off. Hope it works!

No worries bro.
hmmm, I bought a bottle of 95% IPA solution for cleaning from Shopee, might be more than you need.
You can try using sanitiser first. Alcohol containing ones should be at 60-70%, might be enough.

If still too stubborn, try using hair dryer, heat it up first (will soften it a little), then use the IPA solution to try to scrap it.
Limit all the exposure to the adhesive area only, the smaller the better. Good luck!

Does the rfid booth have alternative payment method? plan to try have it on the road tax sticker, but afraid fail to detect.
*
No, if fail to detect, u will have to reverse and use normal lane

Do it in the middle of the night when there are no car because sometimes, there are 3-4 cars behind u and quite impossible to reverse safely

If you DIY the RFID sticker. Most likely will fail

This is why people still go to the RFID installation panel and do it. Because they have the right equipment to measure which location is the best

I dont get it why malaysia do not have alternative payment methods if the selected payment fail ... In Singapore even you fail to pay ERP charges can still pay later or even car parks provide another cashless method if it fails to detect

Do like me, dont peel off the sticker.

use road tax holder and place inside windscreen

position top left (if u are sitting inside car)
I place 5 cm from pillar and 10cm from roof, it works without any problem

Hi sifus,

Is there any extra charges by going to fitment center? l.e labour fee?

Do all fitment center test the RFID after installation or they just help you to fit?

Thanks

RFID is not some rocket scientist whereby it needs specialist to install one.

Previously mine was installed by some part time "teenager" girl which was promoting at a Petronas station (during the time when its offered for free)

I told her to install at the windscreen and she just stuck it there, without using any device.
I've been using it for more than a year, and it works fine every time I pass the RFID toll booth.

So if some young girl can simply stick it and it works, I bet anyone can buy one and DIY stick themselves.

I saw the instructions already but since you pay the same price in the fitting centre, i rather bring it to them to do it. Don't wanna get stuck in a freaking toll booth.

I tried RFID, it is so so

Smart TAG is more reliable to me

I got stuck two out of ten times, so, I think that is terrible

Smart TAG maybe once every 20 times?

A lot of people aren't aware that you need to keep the RFID strip clean. Dust and grim will reduce the scanning performance of RFID strip. I know there are user who don't wash their car for months!

Cleaning / washing it once a week will improve its performance and less likely will get stuck.

Put mine inside the car near roadtax. Just stick with tiny scotch tape.

Did the same to my friends and family. 7 cars, all 0 issue.

Only thing common is all of them have ceramic tint. Although they are different brands and price range, key is pure ceramic make sure not metallic nor metallic/ceramic hybrid.

Metallic tint even if you stick rfid outside the windscreen also will cause interference because the aluminum/copper etc particles will reflect RF energy. The guide said at least 5cm from any metal, that's the only rule need to adhere strictly.

Under your RFiD there is an option to de-activate the current one. Then only you can register the new rfid.

It won't interfere because the reader will read the valid tag and ignore the invalid/irrelevant tag. In your case it will read the condo entry tag and will ignore TnG RFID tag.

I have 3 RFID tags (TnG, house, office carpark) and I have no problem with either one.

My housing area scanner is not ignoring the rfid tag... It caused me couldn't enter/exit the housing area...haiz

Same here. The TnG RFID is interfering with my house rfid tag. Before installing TnG RFID enter and exit no issue takes only 1 scan, after installed, it takes the scanner around 3-4 scans before it manages to get the correct RFID info.

Bring ur m16 to their fitment centre ba.. should get settled quickly lol... After all the entire goal of RFID is to grab your cash. Why would anyone bother to provide after sales service.

My 2nd tag just arrived last week in case the original kong, but the build quality essentially is taobao.cn shit level crap. Goes a long way to show our future proofing topkek

Just sharing with everybody - I installed the RFID on a plastic sticker, and pasted it from the inside of the front left windshield - similar to how I stick my roadtax. It works on my Car + Llumar Tint without any perceptible delay. Your mileage may vary though

Depends on plaza tolls. Sometimes they put in the middle, sometimes on the rightmost lane. Like Setia Alam toll it's on the rightmost lane, at Damansara it's in the middle.

But new users have to share the blame too. Those who drive in too fast, follow too close, don't make sure their ewallet got enough balance, make sure they masuk correct lane, no RFID still want to masuk RFID lane, or masuk RFID keluar TnGO lane... those cannot blame the system. It's user problem

Was thinking to start using RFID, then I noticed some of the cars were reversing & re-entering multiple times at the RFID toll... Really stressful to see that happening during high traffic. Perhaps its just some specific area punya toll gates? Hopefully once I add it, it goes smooth at the toll gates!! dry.gif

Many ppl place the sticker on the wrong place. That's the main reason. I've seen some cars having the sticker on the right-side top corner of the windscreen. It is clearly written to place the sticker on the left side of the car

Certain rfid plazas has problems. I usually face problem at the rfid toll at the Sprint Damansara. You have to drive through it slowly. If you drive too quickly, it will not detect.

As for the other tool plazas, I do not face any problems. Location of my RFID is top left of my windscreen.

A sharing on my recent RFID experience on my new car at fitment center.

Front headlamp fail, Civic FE has a protruding hood and it blocked the RFID on headlamp
Front windscreen was tinted with metallic tint, RFID placement on OUTSIDE windscreen will definitely fail. We even tried to place the RFID on a piece of black sticker, also failed.

the only place to be detected is at the front bumper near the H logo.
I'll just use back Smart tag and see how it goes in the future.

So for those planning to stick on the windscreen, make sure your front tint are not those metallic tint.

New car sakit hati to stick on car paint.
Previous car rfid was on headlamp, the sticker already makan into the headlamp after 2-3 years. Now a bit phobia to stick on car body

I just installed rfid on my car's headlamp, once I'm done I notice there's some air bubble inside the sticker... Will this effect the rfid...?

I install my RFID inside the front windscreen using transparent roadtax sticker. It works without any issue. Lastly my RFID is removeable.

more importantly is cheaper than buying RFID holder from shopee and tends to fall when is way too hot under the sun.

the best part, the RFID probably will last way longer than sticking outside.

Totally frustrated with only one RFID booth at most toll gates. Many ppl have sensor issues, causing long queues and long waits at toll gates nowadays. As a result I am keeping my touch & go card loaded as an alternative.

7 out 10 times had to switch over to touch & go at toll gate after Tun Dr. Ismile towards Kepong.

Same thing here for the Senai / Desaru toll in JB.
You have to drive really slow or even stop below the sensor in order for it to detect, I have my RFID installed on the top left of my windshield (outside), so its easier for the sensor to pick up the tag.

for open loop toll, it's fine. just go to whichever lane that has no queue

the screwed up ones are the closed loop tools.. i see RFID no queue, i enter using RFID. upon exit toll, i see RFID got issue, long queue

now i gotta queue up at the RFID for nothing, cannot choose TNG lane because will get penalty for entering and existing using diff method

The problem I think is the sensor. New sensors are poor quality. I had fitted my 3 cars with the RIFD system way back when it was 1st introduced. All 3 cars have no issues so far. But my daughter & husband have issues with both their cars. They fitted last year.

Obviously, some crony is making money on this!

I usually went straight to their RFID installation center, after replaced my windscreen. Bring the old rfid and get replacement straight at there under foc. Usually went to Mines parking rfid

Same here bro, been thinking of getting RFID but the thing stopping me is — sometimes there's absolutely no RFID lane at all, then end up kena max rate. So macam no point also if still have to worry about that.
